Anyone know what I do? I've managed to lose my brand new iphone (not insured - weep) this afternoon. I am supposed to register it lost I think, but my landline not working - so don't know how to call.... it's on voicemail, so nobody answering obviously. I don't know what to do!!!

@honestogod

Cant believe I opted not to get insurance. It's only about three weeks old.

honestogod · 29/07/2021 18:24

to be fair quite likely it had a flat battery

AbsolutelyPatsy · 29/07/2021 18:25

why can't you retrace your steps?
are you very far away?

honestogod · 29/07/2021 18:27

thing is, and I'm not being dramatic (or not trying to be), but have been a bit on the edge of losing my shit all week, and now I feel like I really am. this feels like a total disaster. I'm supposed to be meeting a friend for a swim tomorrow morning first thing and I can't let her know. Whenever I try and report it to 02 it just says I have to call. I don't know what to do.

work is a nightmare.

ZealAndArdour · 29/07/2021 18:28

I don’t think it sounds like OP really wants to find her phone, lots of excuses, not much action.

honestogod · 29/07/2021 18:29

yes- I'm not in London now. went in for the day for lunch with colleagues - had to come home to Hertfordshire to get my children. Its my birthday tomorrow so supposed to be here with family - not likely to make it back to London until next week.

OP posts:
honestogod · 29/07/2021 18:29

home with kids now. don't even know my husband's number - not that it would help as landline doesn't work.

Is your Apple pay on? I would call my bank and block Apple from taking any money. Just in case a thief observed me using my pass code on my phone and then proceeded to steal it.

honestogod · 29/07/2021 18:31

are you serious @ZealAndArdour. Not very nice. Was only really posting in case anybody knew what I was supposed to do if I couldnt report via phone to 02, then everyone was being quite nice, so I was conversing. That seems a bit mean of you.

OP posts:
AbsolutelyPatsy · 29/07/2021 18:31

cna you ring with facebook ?

AbsolutelyPatsy · 29/07/2021 18:32

ring your dh in london? on facebook?

honestogod · 29/07/2021 18:32

yes my apple pay is on as I set it up yesterday. thank you for the tip @Bananarice - will do that when my husband is back and I can use his phone.

HilaryBriss · 29/07/2021 18:32

Assuming that you don't have a landline, can't you borrow a friend or family members phone? If it is on contract you need to report it otherwise you could well get a shock when you get your next bill.

Do you have a laptop/tablet or PC? O2 have a live chat facility which you can also use.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 29/07/2021 18:32

its a new phone, where is your old one?

honestogod · 29/07/2021 18:34

yes am on my laptop now. It was the 02 live chat that just seemed a bit circular and kept sending me to a page where I had to make a call. Think will have to wait for husband rather than try neighbours as am a bit flustered and don't entirely know who I would phone really.

OP posts:
Bananarice · 29/07/2021 18:34

Send out emails to the people you are supposed to meet and ask them to forward the message on, in case one or two don't read their email in time. You can send your dh an email to.

ZealAndArdour · 29/07/2021 18:34

Use Facebook to try and get a friend or family member with a phone to pop over?

Message your husband on FB?

Go to a phone box?

Go to a family members house with a phone?

Borrow a neighbours phone?

Maybe you’re just feeling a bit despondent with everything you’ve mentioned about having a hard week, and that’s come across in your post. Sorry if I’ve upset you. But one thing is certain, nothing will get sorted with your phone unless you take some action! Anything, just do something!

honestogod · 29/07/2021 18:35

ah I don't really do Facebook (am a bit old). but will investigate as I do have a page I think.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 29/07/2021 18:36

wait til your dc are older op, you will be well versed in dealing with lost phones/lap tops
etc,.

did you have a train journey without your phone?

Lockdownbear · 29/07/2021 18:37

Email or chat with O2, go into nearest shop if possible.

The need to block the phone from others burning a big bill.
Get them to send you a new SIM with the old number.
If you have an old phone use it for a few days or buy a cheap android just so you contactable. Argos cheapest phone is about £18

Then speak with insurance.

honestogod · 29/07/2021 18:39

okay thank you @ZealAndArdour. I'm in the midst of a breakdown at the moment and this is sort of last straw. I've seen threads like this before where whatever people suggest the person says, but I can't, so I get why it is annoying, but I'm not one of those people with FB, or family nearby, or who knows their friends email addresses. Hard to help. a phonebox though - I love that idea, but really do they still exist anywhere?

OP posts:
honestogod · 29/07/2021 18:40

yeah, I knew I hadn't got it just before I got on the train. Would have retraced steps then but it was my last option train to get back to pick girls up from holiday club so had no choice.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 29/07/2021 18:40

o2 will have web chat
