Which norfolk beach

Over the holidays we'll be taking a day trip and want to sit and eat fish and chips while the sun goes down.
We had thought about cromer as I've been before years ago but are we missing somewhere better?
Happy with a pebble beach.. Just need it to have a chip shop. Our children are over 8 so they'll be happy beachcombing
Any recommendations?
Bonus points for somewhere quieter too
We may have an hour in cromer and do the slots/pier etc but then we want to head off for tea
Thanks!

Wells?

vladtheimp27547 · 26/07/2021 23:39

Or Old Hunstanton

Zhampagne · 26/07/2021 23:55

Does it have to be for sundown? Brancaster beach is beautiful, often quieter than Wells and Cromer, and has a kiosk which does chips (you’d have to check if they also do fish) BUT it closes around 5.

Sea Palling - amazing beach and lovely fish and chips

TheOnlyAletheia · 26/07/2021 23:58

Or go to the bucket list at overstrand

Heacham - chip shop is nice, you can watch the sun go down over the sea. Or Hunstanton.

TheOnlyAletheia · 27/07/2021 00:01

Or west runton at low tide because of great rock pooling and go here

Misbeehived · 27/07/2021 00:01

Wells or Brancaster

Davros · 27/07/2021 00:08

Hunstanton or Sheringham

HeddaGarbled · 27/07/2021 00:15

Wells: the fish and chip shop is a mile from the beach.

West Runton: Rocky Bottom has had some staffing issues and may not be open.

newnortherner111 · 27/07/2021 07:10

I'd choose Cromer or Wells.

MinnieMountain · 27/07/2021 07:10

Hunstanton because it faces west. Go to the fish and chip shop behind the fair.

MyOtherProfile · 27/07/2021 07:17

Overstrand is lovely for a sunset.

Pippoppap · 27/07/2021 07:18

No fish at brancaster only chips!

Wells?

Labradabradorable · 27/07/2021 07:20

Get fish and chips at Eric’s in Thornham and drive to Homlme beach. It’s huge and faces west so the sunsets are absolutely beautiful. We were there yesterday and the sun was fiery red.

Labradabradorable · 27/07/2021 07:21

Holme will be very quiet. There might be a dozen of you and a similar number of dogs. Maybe a horse or two 🙂

MotherWol · 27/07/2021 07:27

Overstrand - it’s the next beach along from Cromer and it’s really nice. Or Mundesley, it’s got a lovely beach and a chippy and the pub beer garden has great views.
Wells beach is miles away from the chippies, Hunstanton is a long drive along the coast road which is often busy.

Violetparis · 27/07/2021 07:30

I was in Cromer a few weeks ago, saw a few seals in the sea, had never seen that before Smile.

EdithWeston · 27/07/2021 07:34

Cromer will be fine for you!

If you've been on a day trip, and are coming back through Roughton, stop off at the chippie there.

You can easily visit verywhere mentioned on the thread if based in Cromer.

If you definitely want to see seals, try Blakeney or Horsey

IheartJKR · 27/07/2021 07:37

I went to see the seals at horsey last week - it was totally gorgeous. No chips though - or toilets. Proper old school Smile

justaweeone · 27/07/2021 07:50

Mundesley

ZenNudist · 27/07/2021 07:52

Fishers at old Hunstanton. Very good chippy.

MirandaMarple · 27/07/2021 08:01

Chip shop in Holt then a 10 min drive to Salthouse (pebble beach)

stclair · 27/07/2021 08:07

Blakeney lovely when sun going down and there is a fish and chip shop. You’ll have quite a drive from Cromer to most of the beaches mentioned though.
