Or celery and houmous?

Or neither?

Looking for some healthy snacks that are actually nice....

Ooh well got to be worth a try! I am really invested in your change of lifestyle BlushGrin

TheNestedIf · 26/07/2021 00:09

Absolutely pointless eating 12 calorie celery and then whapping up the calories with 650 calorie peanut butter, which few people would be able to resist overloading the celery stick with. You may as well eat chips for how the calories work out.

What about some cherry tomatoes, or frozen green beans, or strawberries?

paddlingon · 26/07/2021 00:13

I make kale crisps

paddlingon · 26/07/2021 00:14

Sent too soon, olive oil spray and a sprinkle of paprika, actually very tasty.

MistySkiesAfterRain · 26/07/2021 00:19

These are some of mine:

Scrambled egg (add second egg white only if want more) with 10g avocado
Half a small apple chopped and microwaved with cinammon, and yoghurt
Handful grapes (low sugar fruit believe it or not)
Sliced strawberries and zero fat natural yoghurt (Skyr is good as it is high protein) on rice cake
A few raisins or goji berries
Sugar snap peas
Itsu seaweed slices
Green olives
Celery or crunchy pepper with lowest fat philidelphia
Ryvita slice with philadelphia and marmite
Couple of walnuts
Half an orange with Skyr and cacao powder
Frozen raspberries straight from freezer (another low sugar fruit) with Skyr

The trick is to get snacks that taste ok, but not so good that you will want to eat a lot.

MistySkiesAfterRain · 26/07/2021 00:20

Half a teaspoon of PB is fine.

Micemakingclothes · 26/07/2021 00:22

Yes to celery and peanut butter.
Apples and peanut butter
Cheese and olives
Cheese and pickles

I’ve lost 3 stone so far this year and I try to include protein with every snack.

DrCoconut · 26/07/2021 00:23

Celery with peanut butter down the middle and dipped in grated cheese.

rubbletrouble · 26/07/2021 00:30

My DH dips in and out of the Keto diet and has celery with peanut butter down the middle, he loves it,

Etinox · 26/07/2021 00:32

@HollowTalk

Try fasting, OP - it's the best way to stop thinking about snacks. 18:6 is very good for that.
Seriously op, look into it. I’d skimmed past the thread titles for years as I can’t fast for a day- I faint and get light headed, but I can easily skip breakfast and have a late lunch. The weight falls off.
rantymcrantface66 · 26/07/2021 07:46

Cucumber is tastier but practically just water.

Okbutnotgreat · 26/07/2021 08:27

Tzaziki (sp?) is a really good dip for salad veg and celery with Philadelphia is delish. I also like sliced edam with marmite on if you fancy something savoury.

crumpet · 26/07/2021 08:32

Are you recording exactly what you eat? I have tried Noom (am sure there are others) which was really useful in terms of helping me really understand what I was eating and how much. They provide analysis too, which provides a good pointer into what kinds of food to focus on for the rest of the day etc.

Hello everybody 👋
I’m finding it really hard, but I’m doing better than I thought!

If my app is correct, once I’ve eaten dinner I should have taken in 1,225kcal today.
Though i did have a kinder egg earlier.
Apart from the egg though i haven’t had any ‘unhealthy’ snacks.

I’ve set my phone wallpaper to the body I want.

I went for celery and houmous in the end.
It’s not comparable to a packet of crisps but i am going to buy myself some bags of kale soon and try and make my own kale chips..

Powertothepetal · 28/07/2021 14:48

And yes, I am aware kinder eggs have dairy.
I’m a new vegan 😖

Humous and peanut butter are pretty fatty and incredibly salty… I would rather spend my calories on something nicer personally.

Reallyreallyborednow · 28/07/2021 14:55

I need something to replace crisps.
I prefer carrots but they are quite high in sugar

Come on, you can’t really believe that swapping crisps for carrots will mean too much sugar?!

It doesn’t actually matter what you eat, it’s calorie deficit. You will lose weight on 4 mars bars a day if that’s all you eat and you burn more than 1000 calories (and I know someone who actually did this!)

Have a look a James Smith PT stuff. Basically common sense, fasting, low sugar, exercise, no exercise, it’s all about eating less calories than you expend.

Ditch the “good” and “bad” mentality. Find foods that you enjoy. Stop snacking mindlessly and think about what you eat.

ChickenTimeBomb · 28/07/2021 15:01

I read that as cereal and peanut butter! I was wondering how the hell that would work! Celery makes more sense but - yuk. Apple and peanut better is nice though.

Powertothepetal · 28/07/2021 15:09

pretty fatty and incredibly salty…
All the best things are!

Sliced apple and marmite peanut butter is where it's at!

Willowthewispp · 28/07/2021 15:20

Cucumber and peanut butter is actually really good 👍

Roselilly36 · 28/07/2021 15:24

That is taking back some years, it was a trend in the 80’s to put peanut butter in a stick of celery and then put salted peanuts nuts along it, a hit at many a Tupperware party.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 28/07/2021 15:27

Cream cheese mashed with Stilton is delish on celery.

KaptainKaveman · 28/07/2021 15:29

peanut butter with cucumber is delicious!

Hm2020 · 28/07/2021 15:46

I love peanut butter but stay well clear of it on a diet it’s extremely high in calories how about celery with be good to your self humus from sainsburys
