Where's somewhere you've visited but wouldn't want to go back to?

Positive and negative!

I went to Las Vegas, glad I went, but no desire to return! :)

Would never return to Warwick Castle. It's quite over rated...and not much even happened there, it just looks the part! :)

New York. Some bits eg Brooklyn are nice. Some bits are okay - eg Manhattan/Central Park. Other bits are pretty grim. And the subway is horrific. I just find it overall somewhat dirty, overcrowded, noisy and not particularly welcoming. There are other metropolis I like - just not NYC.

Nairobi is in Kenya[/quote]
I know!!! Your post reminded me if the problems my husband had in Nigeria.

Istanbul - I was so excited to go. DH was working and I met him and we extended the trip. It was a city of 2 completely different worlds, abject poverty (that you would drive through) before reaching total luxury. All the cars were scanned for bombs before entering the hotel. When we went out and about on public transport, it was ok (nice underground system), but it felt like we were being watched all the time in the markets.

Livpool · 22/07/2021 14:26

Croydon

The Whitgift Centre was full of men behaving strangely and asking me for money.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 22/07/2021 14:27

to me having no desire to go back somewhere doesn't mean it was bad.
it's literally been there, done that, next.

for example I've loved the Quince Honey Farn in Devon and would happily live & work there but I don't want to go back as a tourist because I'd rather do something else next.

I can't think of any place I genuinely hated. apart from going to a rave party when I was 20. it was so fucking boring and I only stayed to keep an eye on my friend.

Notgoingonholiday · 22/07/2021 14:27

DinosaurDiana felt exactly the same. We went in 2003 staying in a relative's, friends apartment, so not a resort. Intense and at times scary when we were out and about. Jamaica is a gorgeous island but will never go back.

‘Norfolk Coast Holidays B&B and Camping’ near Hunstanton. Camped there last summer for my 40th, me & DP. Week after lockdown was eased. It was a joke… no covid measures, only 2 showers for whole site, no hot water, rough uneven pitches, extortionate prices for a rough thistly field with no amenities, paid extra for a car park space which never materialised. Owner was abrasive & rude. Crawling with earwigs (literally in our sleeping bags, underwear etc).
The area itself was horrible. V near beach but it’s one with big concrete sea-walls & shingle (hardly pretty). Nearby Hunstanton was horrid (kiss-me-quick type place).
Tried to cancel my future booking for family hol at the campsite & got charged hundreds until I threatened legal action.

The worst post-lockdown 40th I could’ve imagined.

You have been warned!

sociallydistained · 22/07/2021 14:27

Phoenix, Arizona and the whole of Arizona!! Would describe it as the fiery pits of hell. I also leant on a cactus and got severely prickled just to add to my discomfort 😂

PommieCheeks75 · 22/07/2021 14:27

Cuffley
Went to look at property.
Dull as dishwater.

gardeninggirl68 · 22/07/2021 14:27

Nairobi, scary place.
I loved Nairobi, precisely because of this! Then again, I was 19 and an idiot. I do remember though that the child poverty was horrific, and presumably still is.
TheOriginalMrsMoss · 22/07/2021 14:28

It's funny how different we are - I love New York, Rome and Lisbon. All fabulous cities IMO.

My absolute favourite city anywhere in the world is Venice. I love it.

Keepyourdistance000 · 22/07/2021 14:29

Disney Land Paris.

St Maarten.

Possibly Cape Verde.

Norfolk coast especially Wells Next The Sea and Cromer.

sHREDDIES19 · 22/07/2021 14:30

Wow some responses are harsh! How can you write off a whole country?!

MuckyPlucky · 22/07/2021 14:30

Ps: this is nothing that I haven’t already posted on Trip Advisor & the feedback form on their website. The owner is already aware this info is out there, so I’m not in breach here of any rules around slander.

If you look the place up on Trip Advisor there are dozens of similar horror stories from other disgruntled campers. The owner just responds to them all with weird insults & passive aggression- it’s quite funny really if it weren’t costing peoples hard-earned money & annual leave

flingingmelon · 22/07/2021 14:30

@ivykaty44

flingingmelon interesting view point, I found Cuba very different. what was it you found depressing? the ration shops? lack of produce in the shops? rice and beans meals?
We went back when Castro was still alive. Escaped Varadero (sp?) after 48 hours and relocated to Havana, thinking it would suit us better.

Hit Peak Cuba seeing the semi derelict yet inhabited homes opposite the super slick contemporary art gallery full of pro Castro works. Communism at its finest hey?

It was also a period when they were clamping down on the grey economy so all the informal eating options were closed.

I hope it's better now. Ive heard Santiago di Cuba is gorgeous but there's too many other places in the world to go. (Hopefully)

TheSockMonster · 22/07/2021 14:30

Somewhere I enjoyed but wouldn’t go back to is the Maldives.

Beautiful place and I enjoyed a very relaxing 2 weeks there, but the it is very much a resort holiday and, whilst I’m very glad I experienced it, I wouldn’t pay to do it again.

Googlewasmyidea1 · 22/07/2021 14:31

Gutted to see Paphos on the list, I've got a house in Paphos and cannot wait to go back once the 'vid fucks off.

What didn't you like about it?

Cam77 · 22/07/2021 14:31

In the U.K. it would be Liverpool. The whole place just feels menacing.
That's a bit strong! Grin

stellaisabella · 22/07/2021 14:31

I think this about the Maldives and I haven't even been yet 😂

Googlewasmyidea1 · 22/07/2021 14:34

I was underwhelmed by Barcelona, really struggled to find somewhere decent to eat and didn't feel safe especially around La Ramblas. I agree about costa Teguise in Lanzarote although Teguise town is very pretty and I absolutely love the Yaiza and the surrounding areas, also like Puerto del Carmen but the quieter part away from the harbour towards Matagorda

PatchworkElmer · 22/07/2021 14:35

Havana and Cairo, because of being hassled constantly.

Originalyellowbelly · 22/07/2021 14:35

Erm IseeScottishhills Nairobi is nowhere near Nigeria Grin

CustardySergeant · 22/07/2021 14:37

@waterlego

I love Vancouver, especially Stanley Park which is incredible and Granville Island

Me too @CustardySergeant. My parents lived there for three years in an apartment on the waterfront right next to Stanley Park. Loved it- felt like a very healthy city; everyone outside all the time cycling/sailing/skiing. The views of the water and the mountains were lovely and there are some really sweet little towns and villages along the coast to the north of the city. Lots of great restaurants too! We were there once during that huge firework display they have every summer. Was SO impressive!

How lovely. I'd love to live there. To have an apartment there would be heaven.
