How do you pronounce Covid?!

You know when someone pronounces a word completely different from what you have ever heard before?
I just wondered if anyone else pronounced it differently.
Someone today pronounced it Cov-id
Rather than cove-id.

Is this common? Have I only just noticed?!

I heard a Cov-id the other day and it left me baffled for 5 minutes.

Did anyone see that episode of have I got news for you when the guest kept calling Putin putain with a French accent? He wasn't French (I assume british) and it was so jarring and there was an awkward few moments when everyone looked at each other and thought "shall we go there? Shall we?" And then ripped him apart

*my knowledge of French is shocking but isn't putain a swear word or something? If a poor attempt at irony he was left red faced and didn't explain it!

Yes we need voice notes! It's two syllables. Op is saying the first one is 'cove' I'm saying it's 'ko'.

My Dad says cor-vid but he says lots of words wrong.
I think he mixes it up with the first letters of corona.

On the Futurelearn course about it, they pronounce it Co-vee.

Started with Covid like cove, now Covid like God. Or Coronavirus wine I speak!
