It started yesterday, I only koticed in the mirror to start with. It doesn't hurt. But it'd getting worse. There is a small white spot or head in the middle.

Oh crikey that looks painful. I'd guess an allergic reaction to a bite or sting.

TheDinosaurTrain · 18/07/2021 07:44

You need to get that checked out ASAP - if your lips are swelling, then your airway might also be.

StormBaby · 18/07/2021 07:45

Could be cellulitis which can cause sepsis so you will definitely need to be seen

Take an antihistamine and see if it goes down a bit. Have you got a magnifying mirror? It is probably a bite.

RubyGoat · 18/07/2021 07:47

You say it doesn’t hurt, but does it feel different? Itchy, reduced or increased sensation, does it “feel” swollen?

I also think bite allergy. Or possibly a cyst.

HowManyToes · 18/07/2021 07:48

My first cold sore was like this. Tiny white spot and my lip swelled massively in a very short space of time (a single lesson which freaked the kids out no end!)

The doc gave me anti viral cream and tablets and told me the first one is always the worst.

RubyGoat · 18/07/2021 07:50

YY to getting seen ASAP. Pharmacist is probably the quickest way. Even on a Sunday.

MoirasWigStand · 18/07/2021 08:02

It feels swollen, in that I can't close my mouth properly. I'll try try and find some antihistamines. Added complication is that I'm self isolating due to dc positive test, although did a PCR yesterday and it was negative.

I noticed it yesterday about 3pm so the swelling has been pretty slow.

I'll be furious if it is a cold sore. I managed to be married to a cold sore haver for over 10 years, only to get one after we've divorced.

It looks like allergy to me, and you need a Dr. Call and explain.

MoirasWigStand · 18/07/2021 08:19

Who do I call on a Sunday though. Not 111, they are about as useful as a chocolate teapot.

I've got some antihistamines, ill try that.

I'd have said a bite or sting considering the white spot in the middle and swelling? Looks sore hope you get it sorted

Eleoura · 18/07/2021 08:24

You could go to a walk in centre/minor injuries unit.

bert3400 · 18/07/2021 08:26

My son had this last week, he's 12 ....I thought he had been sucking his top lip at night . Seems to have sorted it's selfout now. Could be a some sort of bite ?

I agree. Needs attention.
TolkiensFallow · 18/07/2021 08:28

It’s no a cold sore, it’s an allergy, most likely to a bite.

You need to take an antihistamine ASAP.

Also try to get medical advice, maybe a virtual doctors appointment when you can show or at the very least text lip pic!

endofthelinefinally · 18/07/2021 08:37

If it is just the lip an antihistamine should be sufficient. OP hasn't said tongue/throat/airway are affected. It looks like a bite.

Im2sexyforthissite · 18/07/2021 08:41

Did your lips get in contact with the swab when you took the PCR test? Once I tore opened a choc ice package with my teeth and I ended up having a mild reaction. My lips were swollen.

knobblykneesandturnedouttoes · 18/07/2021 09:22

Ring your normal doctors. There should be an option to be put through to an out of hours service .

LadyCatStark · 18/07/2021 09:25

It’s been watching Love Island and decided to join in?? 😂

Seriously though, I think you’ve been stung, do you have any antihistamines?

PamDenick · 18/07/2021 09:30

Cold sore.

Zovirax.

JemimaMoon · 18/07/2021 09:37

As you are isolating, do you have a friend or neighbour who could show this pic to a local pharmacist?

Passthewinebottle · 18/07/2021 09:40

111 did a secure video call with my daughter & I when she burnt herself. They were very good & the advice was excellent. Worth a try, or the PP suggestion of showing a pic to a pharmacist is a great idea too. Hope you're ok OP x

HowManyToes · 19/07/2021 11:13

Did you get seen yesterday OP?

MoirasWigStand · 19/07/2021 12:29

I took antihistamines and it went down. Still a bit of a bump, but much better than yesterday.
