Waiting for a bacon wrapped turkey joint & dauphinois potatoes to cook. Just need to sort the veg ( frozen cauliflower & broccoli). Had a very hot quite stressful shift at work so glad to be chilling at home. Bit peed off with a couple of my colleagues but will talk to them when I’m next in to get it sorted. I may do what I did last night which was to stand on the back doorstep naked & look up at the stars! It felt amazing & the night sky was stunning. Meteor showers were supposed to start & last until mid August so I will keep looking as I didn’t see any shooting stars last night. May watch a film later with DH( DD doesn’t concentrate very well plus it’s her bedtime around 9.30 anyway). Or May watch Casualty & Love Island Unseen Bits.

Just came back in from playing pool in our summerhouse with my husband. Was meant to have gone for a meal with my best friend to celebrate her birthday tonight but it got cancelled yesterday when she tested positive with covid. Spoke to her on the phone earlier and told her to let me know if she needs anything.

Husband is now watching a series on Netflix and I am going to read a book while the children are asleep.

TrivialSoul · 17/07/2021 22:28

Child 1 is in bed with bad PMT, child 2 is hopefully sound asleep.
DH is watching some sort of awful rubbish about abandoned towns on YouTube and I am avoiding looking at the pile of clothes waiting to be ironed and having a flick through mumsnet.

PickAChew · 17/07/2021 22:32

Dh and I are chilling - quite literally - in the garden, watching the moths and listening to the various shy rodents. I've had a few glasses of malbec and dh has just put the kettle on now I'm finally unsweaty enough to face a warm drink.

Ds2 is in his bedroom, sounding like a seagull (asd and tic disorder) supposedly winding down for bed.

Ds1 is in the front room, probably in the dark.

BillyRaywasapreachersson · 17/07/2021 22:35

Bored!! Nothing on TV, can't focus on a book. Contemplating bed but the bloody cat won't come in. So I'm drinking wine and watching crap and being bored.

mamaduckbone · 17/07/2021 22:38

Half watching 'Catch me if you can' with ds1, contemplating giving up and going to bed. Had my Dbro, SIL and mum over for a bbq for my birthday so I'm hot, full and drowsy.

Hyacinth88 · 17/07/2021 22:41

Watching a documentary on Netflix. DH has just led tto pick up teen 1 from her Saturday job at KFC
2 others asleep

girlmama32 · 17/07/2021 22:42

DD is asleep upstairs, DH is out visiting friends. so I'm ignoring the dirty dishes and messy kitchen and having a bottle glass of wine while watching Netflix on the sofa Smile

HandforthParishCouncilClerk · 17/07/2021 22:46

DS is asleep, DH is playing Xbox in the man cave, the dog is snoring peacefully on the sofa, and I’m about to tackle the mountain of washing up after making a massive spaghetti bolognese, which is DS’s current obsession.

Seasidemumma77 · 17/07/2021 22:50

Just finished watching a Marvel film with dc4. Reminded dc3, AGAIN, to empty dishwasher. Now watching The Spy Who Dumped Me with a glass of spiced rum and lemonade

LyndaSnellsSniff · 17/07/2021 22:52

DS2 is asleep, DS1 should be but is still bumbling about in his room. DH and I are sat outside with a glass of wine and enjoying the cool breeze.

There are loads of stars out and apart from the distant rumbling of the A3, it's incredibly peaceful out here.

Nuggetnugget · 17/07/2021 22:53

At this precise moment everyone is asleep and I am considering getting up to find frozen cauliflower to take back to bed 😛

frustratedwiththepandemic · 17/07/2021 22:56

Had a stressful day with flare up of my
Underlying conditions and 2 little ones .. add in a disagreement / row
With dh and bedtime was a disaster for eldest dc. So now dh has popped out for a McDonald's so we can comfort eat Blush

MellowMelly · 17/07/2021 23:01

I've just had a stern word with the cat not to cause a riot with the dog again in the morning at 5am just to get me to wake up so he can have food.
I've also just polished off a couple of Marks and Spencer's Egg Custard Tarts.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 17/07/2021 23:02

Spent the day in my garden reading. I had lots of plans today and this week, all of which got cancelled when my headteacher phoned me to tell me that one of my class had tested positive o the last day of term and we all had to then isolate for the next bloody week.

We were soooo close to getting away without having to isolate all year, then bam!

Xiaoxiong · 17/07/2021 23:04

Friends staying for the weekend made us bacon and broad bean risotto for dinner which was lush, and we sat up late with wine, cheese and biscuits setting the world to rights. Walked the dog down to the harbour and revelled in the cool breeze, now MNing to wind down! Tomorrow back to the beach Smile

Mother87 · 17/07/2021 23:04

Been out for an Indian meal with DH - we're amicably separated/working on reconciliation and currently 'dating' again - or that's how it's starting to feel, which is good...And am now home alone, sitting here with the fan on/too hot but feeling 'ok' and watching Catch Me If You Can for the gazillionth time...

TheVolturi · 17/07/2021 23:06

Cramped in asd ds bed, he's 8 and can't fall asleep alone. Still waiting. Everytime I fall asleep he thrashes around in frustration and wakes me. Too hot for this!

echt · 17/07/2021 23:09

It's Sunday morning in Melbourne. I've had my morning cuppa and am contemplating taking the dog for his walk.

danadas · 17/07/2021 23:11

18yo is outside in the back garden listening to music (quietly!). 16yo appeared for food and has disappeared back to his room, 8yo is sitting quietly in the front room as too hot in his room and he can't settle. Hubby is sat next to me playing a game on his phone with the volume on full (why do they always do that!) and I am sat here with a blank piece of paper that I am supposed to be making a list on of what I want to make sure we take for our day out tomorrow.

Silkiecats · 17/07/2021 23:14

Had scallops with parmesan in a white sauce for dinner, now having some water before going to sleep. Had vaccine yesterday so a bit drowsy and a big rash. Did a little carpet cleaning.

Ds in isolation doing nothing.

Dd and dh went out to orthodontist for dd, pets at home for chickens 🐔, home bargains for hair dye and sainsburys for food.

TheVolturi · 17/07/2021 23:15

Ahhh amazing to think its actually tomorrow there!
Silkiecats · 17/07/2021 23:16

TheVolturi my ds is also asd and used to sleep with me until 8 then I got replaced by a 4 foot panda and 4 foot penguin.

aleC4 · 17/07/2021 23:20

We've had a lovely evening actually.
Dd was at a friends until 9 so ds and I barbecued our tea. It was too hot really but we managed.
Dd and I went outside again at about 10 and it was a lovely temperature.
We chatted and played some quiz type games then ds joined us and we had a real laugh together.
It's unusual that we spend time all of us together without anyone falling out or having a bad attitude so it was a really nice evening.
We stayed out until we couldn't read the cards anymore and then came in and played charades.

whyMrsRobinson · 17/07/2021 23:22

What a nice and reassuring thread! I always imagine everyone else is doing amazing things in amazing houses so it’s nice to hear everyone is kind of calm and mellow
I’m in bed ( bliss) after cooking steak and salad and drinking half a bottle of wine ( oops). Told ds 13, I was too tired to nag him so to use his judgement about coming off the computer. He did! About 10 os he was tired, not Cos his friends had had to come off. Oh ok then.and he told me what he’d been up to! No nagging lesson learnt!
