Who are you all? Family? Housemates?
Ages?

Lotsachocolateplease · 17/07/2021 07:32

Do you have a garden?

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 17/07/2021 07:32

Go for a v early of v late walk somewhere remote is my suggestion.

IsolaPribby · 17/07/2021 07:33

Hobbies? Netflix? Gardening?

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 17/07/2021 07:34

What have you done already?

StealthPolarBear · 17/07/2021 07:35

Sorry family, me, dh, two young teens.
We are very lucky, big house and garden.
We all watch loads of TV already (and I read). I need something to fill in the time so that when we flop down to do that at say 4pm it's not the only thing we've done all day!
Gardening a good call, think dh and are doing some later. Ds will be doing some extra maths!!

Baking?
Other more elaborate-than-usual cooking? (Obviously dependent on what you’ve got in.)
Online yoga/Pilates/other exercise?
Board games?
Charades?! (Ok, I’m clutching at straws now…)

Atalune · 17/07/2021 07:40

A big chore/DIY project

Panting the windows or doors
Sorting through your clothing and getting a big bag ready for the charity bin
Sorting out the shed/garage
Cleaning out the messy drawer

Write a letter
Go through all direct debits and bank statements for the month and file
Organise your important paperwork

Make a scrap boot or photo album for your children with all their stuff from over the years

Do service wash on your washing machine and dishwasher

OhTheTastyNuts · 17/07/2021 07:40

We have a badminton set from Argos that keeps us entertained for quite a while.

Decorating - would one of the teens want to plant their room?

Art tutorials on YouTube.

Download Pokemon Go. It's GoFest this weekend and if you use an incense you can easily play from home.

StealthPolarBear · 17/07/2021 07:43

Excellent ideas thanks. I will insist we play a family board game later.
I do have cleaning to do, thorough sort out of kitchen and dining room. Tbh the thought of that is what's boring me! Will be enjoyable when it's done though.
Also meal planning to ensure we use up what we have before it goes out of date.

Wonder if a 14 and 11 yo would still enjoy the paddling pool

Lotsachocolateplease · 17/07/2021 07:46

Great weather this weekend so get out in the garden, sort out your shed/garage. Weed those flowerbeds, cut the grass, have a bbq, could you get a largish pool delivered? That would be great fun!
Sort through wardrobes and get rid of old clothes, you have lots of time to list stuff on eBay for example. Same for anything you don’t need. Go through cupboards, kitchen units etc.
Do you have any of the kids old games hanging about? Family games night with those would be fun! Relive the past!!
Baking? Batch cooking? You could really get ahead for the next few months!
Christmas shopping online? Again a perfect opportunity to get ahead!

Divebar2021 · 17/07/2021 07:50

Organise your photos and order some photo books. I have tons of photos on my phone and laptop that never see the light of day.
Hunt down the best Air BnB property ever for a short break
Organise your spice cupboard / underwear drawer / junk drawer
Marie Kondo your wardrobe

StealthPolarBear · 17/07/2021 07:51

You are very motivated. I am to some extent, but I also want something fun or interesting to happen.

OP posts:
ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 17/07/2021 07:51

have a party!
put up your Christmas fairy lights, put on some music and do a bit of karaoke. or just dance like a drunk uncle at a wedding!🤣

that's my go to mood-lifting activity

StealthPolarBear · 17/07/2021 07:53

That sounds like fun. Yes, music while we work. And am seriously considering the paddling pool.

OP posts:
HarveySchlumpfenburger · 17/07/2021 07:58

YY to the paddling pool. They'll probably say no until it's actually up and full, then it'll be different.

Divebar2021 · 17/07/2021 08:00

Cocktail making.

StealthPolarBear · 17/07/2021 08:06

Urgh we have about 3 litres of bacardi no one likes. And I don't feel quite up to cocktails just yet although I will have a couple of glasses of wine witj our barbecue.

ineedaholidaynow · 17/07/2021 08:10

Board games like Taskmaster or Crystal Maze, which involve activities not just sitting at the table

StealthPolarBear · 17/07/2021 11:11

Preparing food for the barbecue soon!!

MinesAPintOfTea · 17/07/2021 11:13

Fill the paddling pool, then you can have a paddle in the sunshine. Just be ready to run when the kids get the water pistols out...

GivingItUp · 17/07/2021 11:28

Yes to getting all your old board games out and the paddling pool
Build an assault course
Order swing ball from amazon (other Internet sites are available Grin)
Make your own version of twister
Do a treasure hunt
Print off some riddles/quizzes and give naff prizes
Play bulldog /what's the time Mr wolf. All the old playground games. I bet they'll really get into it
Or just let them get on with it and crack open the gin

TheChosenTwo · 17/07/2021 11:56

Oh definitely get the pool out, even if just the adults use it!
We had one of those big blue pools last summer, all 5 of us were in it every day. Great weather this weekend too.
