Do you know what I’m seeing everywhere at the moment and really turns my stomach?

Those revolting ‘grazing boards’, also ‘grazing boxes’.
Now I hate different types of food touching each other at the best of times but these things really make my stomach churn!
If you don’t know what they are, I’ll see if I can find a pic to attach.
Just an ugly mishmash of food which has no place being squished against something else, with everyone digging their fingers about it all to get the bits they want, are there plates involved or do people literally stand over these eating them?
I can’t be the only person who thinks these are vile! The waste must be ridiculous too.
The boxes remind me of kids packed lunch boxes, things all smooshed together crumbing up things with no crumbs Envy
Bleurgh.
What turns your stomach? Humour me, make me feel like less of a weirdo Grin

Bleugh: the second box down in this one has separated Kit Kat fingers and squares of chocolate just broken from a bar. So just boring high street chocolate broken up by someone else’s hand and put in a tatty box

Look at the "fondue box". Two half bananas on sticks!

I am also loving the Return to the 70s of some of these boxes. Add ££££s to the price by cutting tomatoes on half with the classic 70s zig-zag garnish cut. And then, in a flourish of artistic genius, do the same to a kiwi fruit. Get some slices of fluorescent pink salami and fashion them into ‘rosettes’, can’t go wrong with some cubes of Cathedral cheddar (Cracker Barrel being no longer available) and straight in with an inflated C21st price.

For added authenticity just add one cheese, pineapple and pickled onions on sticks orange hedgehog - complete with glacé cherries for eyes as a ‘ta daaa’ centrepiece Star

WTF?! Until this evening, I'd never even heard of a grazing board. Now I'm wondering what other monstrosities have passed me by??

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 17/07/2021 22:14

Someone local does grazing boards for £40 a pop

£40!!!!

For some cured meats, cheese slices, olives and cherry tomatoes

Seasidemumma77 · 17/07/2021 22:55

DP and I ordered a charcuterie board in a bar/restaurant the other day, to see what the fuss was about. I was bitterly disappointed, so much money for something I could arrange on a lump of wood for 1/4 of the price.

Cocolapew · 17/07/2021 22:58

@Rowofducks

I saw this one on my local Facebook. It all seems to be on some sort of animal bedding. Confused
DD bought me one of these for Mothers Day, the dome thing is chocolate and it came with a teeny wooden hammer to smash. It was full of mini eggs. It was in a box on its own though, no shredded paperConfused or fruit.

@Livingintheclouds

Trifle. The texture, the cold custard, yuk. It looks like a kid vomited up a birthday cake and someone put whipped cream on top.
Absolutely agree, it's vile!! Envy
TheChosenTwo · 18/07/2021 08:58

@MaMelon that’s it, munchy box! Absolute shit show Grin
Ahh yeah I hate trifle too, soggy squelchy cold slop Envy actually I don’t think I’ve ever eaten trifle but I hate custard and jelly,
I don’t trust their texture. Or flavour.

@ahoyshipmates

That photo is actually quite disturbing, and I'm not sure why. Perhaps there's just too much of it all at once.

Spread out and arranged properly it would look far better.

It's the holes, I tell ya!

@MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat

They are just grim. Especially the ones with sweet and savoury mixed together. The ham is touching the party rings Envy. I keep seeing them advertised on fb marketplace where someone has made some sandwiches, bought some cheap cupcakes and just boxed them up all together with a load of other crap and flogs them for £15. Who is buying them?
Good god, what sort of animal does that?! Angry
tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 19/07/2021 14:40

@dreamingbohemian

Yes these become a trendy way to do cheese and charcuterie boards a couple years ago, probably for Instagram reasons. I HATE it with a passion. Respect your cheese and meats! Don't just shove them all together.

Me three, I'm just deciding which actress/character voice it would sound best in - Margot Ledbetter, Hyancith Bucket (pronounced Bouquet) or Lady Catherine de Bourgh.

Hope its naice ham Grin
