Do you know what I’m seeing everywhere at the moment and really turns my stomach?

Those revolting ‘grazing boards’, also ‘grazing boxes’.
Now I hate different types of food touching each other at the best of times but these things really make my stomach churn!
If you don’t know what they are, I’ll see if I can find a pic to attach.
Just an ugly mishmash of food which has no place being squished against something else, with everyone digging their fingers about it all to get the bits they want, are there plates involved or do people literally stand over these eating them?
I can’t be the only person who thinks these are vile! The waste must be ridiculous too.
The boxes remind me of kids packed lunch boxes, things all smooshed together crumbing up things with no crumbs Envy
Bleurgh.
What turns your stomach? Humour me, make me feel like less of a weirdo Grin

I actually like the grazing tables... it saves on the washing up! Grin

superram · 17/07/2021 09:09

I saw one advertised on fb and actually asked if I was weird that the strawberries touching the meat freaked me out. The seller replied and said they could separate them. I love a good buffet but prefer to be able to choose the bits I like instead of hammy party rings.

RubyGoat · 17/07/2021 09:26

@Rowofducks

I saw this one on my local Facebook. It all seems to be on some sort of animal bedding. Confused
Or possibly cat litter.
SpacePotato · 17/07/2021 09:40

Holy shit that nacho one 🤮.
She mixed it with wallpaper scrapers!!

The mermaid one is quite impressive but it annoys my brain that the tail scales are all pointing upwards.

BabyFartsDoStink · 17/07/2021 09:53

Cutting baby fingernails. I just did it for the first time (DS 8m) as we are away from DP for two weeks. He was sleeping, it was fine. I nearly threw up in my mouth with each snip.

I'm not really the missing people type but my goodness if I didn't want DP here! 😅

BabyFartsDoStink · 17/07/2021 09:54

But that original board, yes, I'd probably eat that. Lol

TheChosenTwo · 17/07/2021 09:58

@BabyFartsDoStink nice recovery Grin
(I used to file their nails when they were tiny!)

I don’t know where nice recovery came from! I just meant to put the grin there Confused

How do you sort out the left overs if it's all dumped on the table? Peel it off?

TheChosenTwo · 17/07/2021 10:04

The whole thing looks like leftovers to start with!

BabyFartsDoStink · 17/07/2021 10:12

@TheChosenTwo I'm actually cutting them because we are going to a small party today and I don't want to be judged for baby talons. 😅

While a well done professional grazing board doesn't faze me I have to say doing the first social thing post Covid, and now with Norovirus on the rise, I am DREADING the food table in whatever form.

Will probably just make an appearance and hightail it out of there! Tongs, no tongs, it all seems too soon and too nasty.

TigersandTeddybears · 17/07/2021 10:15

This looks like what my toddler does to his plate when I serve him from a party buffet. Looks like it would be complete with dribble, snot and spat out bits too.

TigersandTeddybears · 17/07/2021 10:17

How is this so popular during covid times? I thought we had got a bit better about germs, obviously not.

I won't really eat buffet food either though, and in the supermarket I never take the front pack of anything because of all the germs that might have been breathed and touched on to it. Can't really explain why, but it makes me feel queasy. I never use a salad bar either

CeliaJ · 17/07/2021 10:23

I am aware that levels of hygiene are on the decline, like everything else, and this is a sure way to spread infections. Other cultures have a communal dish which everyone dips into. Is this where this idea originates?
I hate to see any food left exposed to contamination from coughs, sneezes and dirty fingers. The whole concept should be banned.

I guess it can all be arranged on a binliner... esay peasy! 🤫

Haha!

It just looks so gluttonous and like quantity is the important thing.

curryandpastaandwine · 17/07/2021 11:40

Someone on Facebook has this business doing sweets in boxes. Which is essentially a bunch of sweets dumped in a box, melting together and mixing flavours. Amazed people pay for this shit.

Crankley · 17/07/2021 12:58

Yuk, totally revolting. It reminds me of one of those all you can eat places. The man in front of me put some of every type of hot meat and veg on his plate and two yorkshire puddings. He then piled on salad, a ladle of salad dressing and topped the who thing off with two ladles of hot gravy. It made me feel sick.

TheChosenTwo · 17/07/2021 14:09

Now I think about it, it’s reminiscent of people on here who have mentioned these horrible sounding boxes from perhaps a kebab shop, where it’s all the meat, maybe also pizza, chips, anything else sold in the shop, I can’t really remember properly but anyway it’s all just chucked together in a box and looks like dog food.

Munchy boxes. Absolutely disgusting.

Fattyfattyfatty · 17/07/2021 16:14

There's a bloody woman on Instagram who has an army of followers for making these awful things. Great, you can put food together on a board, give that woman 1000000000 followers.

Livingintheclouds · 17/07/2021 16:28

Trifle. The texture, the cold custard, yuk. It looks like a kid vomited up a birthday cake and someone put whipped cream on top.

Noooooo, I love trifle! I come from a family of trifle lovers, there’s outrage if there’s only one trifle at a big family get together! Watching bake off professionals when they do the “live plating” showstopper - placing cake directly on the table, drizzling sauces into it and then dropping something onto it so it smashes open - makes me feel queasy every time! I also can’t bear the smell of food after cooking/eating. Had to open all the windows the other day after frying some mushrooms! Love eating them, but the smell of them afterwards… can’t see why open plan kitchens/living rooms are a thing, the whole place filled with cooking smells. My worst nightmare!
EverythingDelegated · 17/07/2021 19:27

Agree with trifle, I absolutely hate it. Soggy sponge, cold custard and alcohol, just awful.
