Anyone have any recommendations for hotels in Cornwall, Devon or Dorset? Planning a child free break for next year but not sure where to start!

The Scarlet. It was my absolute favourite hotel although haven’t been there for a while because of children.

Kezzie200 · 15/07/2021 19:16

Talland Bay Hotel?

Watermark Hotel, Looe?

Martinisarebetterdirty · 15/07/2021 19:21

The Boskerris in Carbis Bay, but no pool - is lovely apart from that. The Scarlett is nice too but I prefer being close to St Ives and the beach at Carbis Bay is nicer

Not the Scientology one. Camelot or something like that it’s called near Newquay.

I nearly booked it by accident once. The trip advisor reviews are worth a look for a giggle though.

Thanks everyone I'll go and look them all up xxxx

Watergate Bay Hotel? Agree The Scarlett is very nice too

DaftVader42 · 15/07/2021 20:24

The new pig hotel …

Mousehole in Cornwall is lovely.

Provencerose · 15/07/2021 20:25

The Scarlet, Carbis Bay or St Michael’s in Falmouth.

underneaththeash · 15/07/2021 20:25

The driftwood in Rosevine is my favourite. 3star hotel, but a michelin star and amazing service and location, just near the hidden hut.
I wouldn't go to watergate bay without kids.
I like the Scarlett too.

You could actually do both and walk between them, the driftwood, would transfer your luggage.

FrownedUpon · 15/07/2021 20:26

The Scarlett or Fistral Beach Hotel & Spa. Both adult only so great for a child free break.

underneaththeash · 15/07/2021 20:26

Just to be clear, it's a distance between them and you'd need to stop off half way!

StormBaby · 15/07/2021 20:29

Avoid the Pentire Hotel, it’s a dusty shithole

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 15/07/2021 20:30

Have a look on the website canopy and stars. There are loads of little unique places to stay on there.

FurrySlipperBoots · 15/07/2021 20:35

The Driftwood must be 4 stars surely? It's pretty luxury there! I'm not sure it's Michelin starred any more but the restaurant is beautiful and romantic. It's a much quieter spot than the bigger Watergate Bay type hotels. No pool or hottub or anything but a nice secluded beach, good for local rambles, and the Hidden Hut is just down the road - best lemon drizzle cake ever invented, and I don't like lemon cake! 10 mins drive to St Mawes and then you can mess about with boats if that's your thing, or nip over to Falmouth for the day.

actiongirl1978 · 15/07/2021 20:45

The pig at harlyn

Screwcorona · 15/07/2021 22:25

Scarlett is beautiful, I'm wanting to go for our 10 year anniversary even though it's literally 2 villages away from me.

ChinookPilotsGoVertical · 16/07/2021 00:23

@Provencerose, I used to live in the St Michael's, my grandparents used to own it.

Shamoo · 16/07/2021 00:55

St Moritz is lovely 😊

MiloAndEddie · 16/07/2021 06:19

Fistral beach or Rick steins seafood restaurant has beautiful rooms

Boomshakalack · 16/07/2021 06:32

Saunton sands
The Endsleigh

Thisusedtobeaniceneighbourhood · 16/07/2021 06:36

The Nare Hotel on the Roseland Peninsula is the one I would pick for child free luxury:
www.narehotel.co.uk/

I’m a west Cornwall girl at heart but that hotel looks stunning.

Thisusedtobeaniceneighbourhood · 16/07/2021 06:37

Though actually, if budget allows I would consider going all the way to the Scillies

FurrySlipperBoots · 16/07/2021 16:38

The Nare is just pretentious I think. Staff opening doors and calling you 'Madam', urgh!
