Strange email from Royal Mail.

Why would they receive a request not to deliver our mail? Nobody here has given that instruction. It’s DH’s birthday and he was thinking nobody cared!

Strange email from Royal Mail.

Weird, never seen that before. Is it a scam email?? Can’t exactly see how tbh.
Has someone sent dh a gift which they thought would arrive early and requested it to be held for you if it does? Again - never heard or seen this option.
I know you can ask for post to be held at a delivery office if you are on holiday - so has someone mixed your address with another one due illegible writing - eg no66 and no88 abc street. That seems most likely scenario.

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 10/07/2021 17:01

Is there a bit further down to 'click here to arrange delivery'? If so, could be a scam.

annacondom · 10/07/2021 17:02

Were you expecting a parcel from Fitflop? If not, sounds like a scam. If yes, is still weird.

TheChippendenSpook · 10/07/2021 17:03

I'd phone them up and ask them but don't use the number on the card. I'd use one from their website.

debwong · 10/07/2021 17:03

What's the from address?

greensnail · 10/07/2021 17:05

Have you ordered something from fitflop to be delivered? Sometimes there's an option to say the address is only able to accept parcels Monday-Friday (eg if it is a business address) so maybe you have selected that by mistake.

Imissmoominmama · 10/07/2021 17:05

I was expecting a parcel from Fitflop, yes- which I’d had an email to say would be delivered today. We’ve had no mail at all today, which is odd.

Our house has a name, not a number and is one of three in a small courtyard- none of our neighbours are away at the moment.

I’m really puzzled!

I wanted to wear the sandals tonight too.

No card- nothing in the postbox at all!

Imissmoominmama · 10/07/2021 17:07

The from address was Royal Mail. I’m not doubting that it’s genuine- I just don’t understand why.

Idontgiveagriffindamn · 10/07/2021 17:08

It’s a weird message but if it’s a parcel from Fitflop and you’ve ordered something from them surely that’s the most likely delivery.
Or I am being really dumb?

ForeverFloating · 10/07/2021 17:09

It’s not a scam, I deal with Royal Mail a lot at work and have seen this a few times. Customers never know why and Royal Mail always say it’s due to their backlogs, delivery will be attempted

MouldyPotato · 10/07/2021 17:10

Maybe they don't like to deliver at weekends in case it's a business address? Seems odd.

Bargebill19 · 10/07/2021 17:12

Is it second class delivery ? We only get first class post on Saturday nothing else. Even if it a a parcel. But we don’t get an email regarding it. It was a decisions made around Christmas 2020 and just in the media.

ahoyshipmates · 10/07/2021 17:12

Here's a question to ask yourself:

How did Royal Mail get your email address?

That would make sense, we’re on deliveries every couple of days at the moment due to shortage of posties (thanks Covid!). Logically I’m guessing the way they organise the rota would be to use an existing system like the one that amends deliveries due to the request of the resident.

I’d give it a couple of days and if nothing appears pop to the local sorting office.

LightAsTheBreeze · 10/07/2021 17:13

Maybe Fitflop get a lot of orders to peoples place of work so say only to deliver Mon-Fri, it looks like they don't deliver on Sat, Sun or Bank hols on their website

WeAreTheHeroes · 10/07/2021 17:13

They'll be short of delivery staff - we had post one day this week and there was lots, all pit through our letterbox including next door's, presumably because the postie didn't know the two similar addresses are two different houses despite the different names.

They’ll have it from Fitflop, I often get an email from a company saying X is being delivered today and then one from RM saying ‘your parcel from X will be delivered today’.

I'm sure I have had emails from Royal Mail about delivery, I think they get it from who you are ordering from, Seasalt is one of these.
Imissmoominmama · 10/07/2021 17:18

Yeah, they will have got it from Fitflop- it’s pretty usual to get emails saying when something will be delivered. This is the one that came first thing.

There hasn’t been any post at all, so it’s not just this parcel.

Strange email from Royal Mail.

girlmom21 · 10/07/2021 17:28

Your postman's probably off sick and they couldn't get cover or something daft so they're notifying you of the delay. Alternatively, they've put the wrong number on the parcel and someone's responded to a notification text saying they're not available to accept a parcel today.

Imissmoominmama · 10/07/2021 17:34

That sounds plausible (postie being off), it was just the way it was worded that puzzled me.

OP posts:
Dollywilde · 10/07/2021 17:37

Agreed OP, that’s why my guess is that they’re using the ‘resident’s request’ system to manage the rota. Really silly but would make sense.

This has been withdrawn by MNHQ at the poster's request.

I think that’s the mystery solved!
