Imminent trip to Ireland - advice please!

Hello, I am hoping someone might have made the trip recently and be able to offer some advice- I haven't been able to get all the answers online. We are going shortly after the 19th July, so I know there might be some rule changes before we go.

  1. Do children under 6 have to quarantine at the named address? They aren't required to get PCR tests - I assume they do have to quarantine.
  1. Is it legal to get a taxi or bus from the airport to the address we will be quarantining at? We may not have a lift.
  1. We fly around noon on a Tuesday. Getting quite anxious about finding a qualifying PCR test. The test has to have been taken within 72 hours prior to arrival, so we can't take it before around 2pm on Saturday. Which means it won't make a Saturday post. Which means can't post till Monday- won't be back in time for Tuesday. Anyone flown on a Tuesday and found a solution?

Thanks!

Thanks @MegCleary
That's great news about the quarantine and for us doing 2 PCR tests is better than 4.

Been many folks on twitter and mumsnet sorting and asking

BlueRaincoat1 · 22/07/2021 20:02

Can an existing ehic card still be used in Ireland? I mean one i hot prior to brexit but not expired yet.

ssd · 22/07/2021 20:20

Got

MegCleary · 22/07/2021 20:24

From what I’ve read it’s still valid, and what I’m bringing. DH’s had expired so we got him an GHIC oh my god it’s like a UKIP membership card!

Do you normally get travel insurance as well as the ehic card when you go to Ireland?

Germolenequeen · 22/07/2021 22:11

And people wonder why our cases here in Ireland are rising 🤦‍♀️

No?
ssd · 22/07/2021 22:12

Cant find rhe ehic anyway Confused

WeatherToday · 22/07/2021 22:17

You can still apply for an ehic online or something similar called a ghic. It's a fairly simple application process but may take a week or two to arrive.

ssd · 22/07/2021 22:26

Dont have time unfortunately

I wonder if i can buy travel insurance that covers covid?

MegCleary · 22/07/2021 22:41

Martin Lewis website good about insurance

BlueRaincoat1 · 22/07/2021 22:54

I bought travel insurance from LV recently, no exclusion for catching covid in the medical section (bit about it in pre existing conditions though), so long as you follow local rules, govt recommendations etc. Also covered if you can't go because of being told to isolate. It seems pretty standard to be honest.

We made it yesterday. Stanstead was pretty hectic, even at 6am. No issues coming through irish aide but plenty issues with ryanairs 'seamless' organisation. Some people even turned away at departures gate as clear they didnt have correct docs. How they got that far I dont know 🤷‍♀️
