Most young people/teenagers seem to take off their shoes without untying the bow. Do you see that as well and why do they do that?

Well this is clearly an important issue for you, given that you have posted the exact same thread in three places!

NiteWotcha · 07/07/2021 02:51

Great, someone replied to this vital issue - I will hide the other two threads Wink

AnaViaSalamanca · 07/07/2021 03:27

I am mid 30s and do it. Because I am lazy. HTH

beadsunlimited · 07/07/2021 03:30

I do it too as it takes me ages to get the laces just right. So I don't bother untying them each time.

ApolloandDaphne · 07/07/2021 03:30

I am 58 and I remove my trainers without untying them. I untie them when I want to put them back on. I am obviously lazy.

hagsrus0 · 07/07/2021 05:59

Quote from memory (someone's nanny, I think): "There are little sins and big sins and taking off your shoes without undoing the laces."

Frenchfancy · 07/07/2021 06:16

I'm 49 and I still do it. I need to sit down to tie and untie laces because of my back. I can take shoes off without sitting down. Not difficult to understand.

3Britnee · 07/07/2021 06:26

I don't even tie mine. I lace them so the ends are on the inside and then tuck them in the trainer.

Onlinedilema · 07/07/2021 06:31

I was going to say laziness but it wouldn't bother me at all. I 'd be impressed that they were taking their shoes off in my home. What does annoy me is people who don't offer to take their shoes off in my house. I do not want you tramping around on my carpeted floors in our door shoes.

EverythingDelegated · 07/07/2021 06:31

There was a thread about this a few months ago, lots of people of all ages do it. Including me. I undo them when I go to out them on again. Means I can kick them off inside the door without having to put down whatever I'm carrying and if coming in with other people its quicker. At least they mostly do tie them up now, the trend for just tucking the ends in seems to by dying out.

Danoodle · 07/07/2021 06:34

I started when I was pregnant because tying and untying my laces was getting difficult Grin. Any shoe that could was left with its laces done up but loose enough to slip on/ off.

miltonj · 07/07/2021 06:35

Me and my husband do it. In fact I can't remember the last time I saw anyone tie their laces. It's quite odd now you mention it!

FluffyPJs · 07/07/2021 06:35

I am 48 and have done this my whole life! Why? Laziness, speed, they are already tied perfectly so why undo them and mess up the perfect?

Shadedog · 07/07/2021 06:35

I’m nearly 50 and I do that

I work in a healthcare setting where we ask patients to remove shoes. Almost everyone in trainers does it, even over 80s. The exception is converse type trainers which have no give. Lots of elderly people favour sketchers which are easy to get on and off without undoing laces.

mellongoose · 07/07/2021 06:37

I'm 45 and I do this. I don't think it's pure laziness (for me anyway) as;

  1. I will have to untie and tie them again eventually when I put them back on , and
  2. when I get home I am generally weighted down with shopping, dogs and children. I then have to find a free hand for my key. Shoes come off in the porch at our house.
wheresmymojo · 07/07/2021 06:38

I'm 38 and do this because it's more efficient / I am lazy.

Why would you untie them and re-tie them every time when you don't need to?

OrchidLass · 07/07/2021 06:39

I'm 54 and do it. Lazy I suppose, I haven't given in any much thought.

DwangelaForever · 07/07/2021 06:41

30 here and I do it. No idea why, maybe cause it saves time putting shoes on again and I don't have to retie

SoapboxFox · 07/07/2021 06:44

I untie them because it's easier to get them back on again and then do up the laces so they fit snugly.

Bagelsandbrie · 07/07/2021 06:44

I’m 40 and do this. Just quicker!

itsme · 07/07/2021 06:46

I'm a self confessed lazy person. I've just got some slip on stretchy trainers because I can't be arsed with tying up.

Iggly · 07/07/2021 06:48

Because they’re spawns of the devil and this is their secret code. The tied laces carry a message.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 07/07/2021 08:09

I do that, and I'm 49.
It's great to be "down with the kids" finally 😂

Hollyhocksarenotmessy · 07/07/2021 08:29

I do.

I also - gasp - leave my blouses/shirts buttoned up (bar the top button) and pull them on and off over my head. They get washed like it and everything.
DP finds this disgustingly lazy, but why waste time fiddling around with buttons if you don't have to?
