Does anyone want to be friends?

I understand how sad this thread title sounds but I'm in desperate need of some friends.
I'm pretty isolated and find it hard to put myself in situations were I can find lasting friendships.
A bit about me, I'm a sahm who homeschools 2 dc. Ds is 7 and has asd and dd is 3.
I have 2 dogs and a cat, I really like going on dog walks.
I don't really have any hobbies, I occasionally play sims, read all sorts of book genres, I like most genre movies, I'm not a particularly fitness fanatic but I do like walking.
So if anyone would like an online friend or someone to message and talk boring everyday rubbish with I'd love to get to know you.

I hope this doesn't come over as a pity thread, I'm sure many people have felt really isolated in these times to.

Hey! Where about are you from?

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 05/07/2021 17:18

Whereabouts are you op?
I saw someone on our local Facebook group actually put up a post like this recently - they got absolutely inundated with comments from people who also felt lonely and wanted friends locally - I think it’s a lot more common than you think!

Suggest also maybe working something on your towns local Facebook Page, setting it out maybe as a “walk and coffee”?

angstyalways · 05/07/2021 17:20

Hi both, I'm south west Wales, I'm not on Facebook (I really want to avoid if possible). I know this sounds like I'm not really actively looking for friends but I have always found I relate a lot to the people on Mumsnet, hence the post.

I think also, although it would be lovely to meet up with people it would be quite difficult as I'm constantly with the dc.
I would like to have someone to talk with, share my day, have a moan/ laugh.
The best way I can describe it for me is you know when you see something funny online and you want to share that with someone I would like to have someone other than my mum to do that with.

I’m familiar with the area and spent many a happy day at the Dinisaur Park in Tenby with my children.

I’m mum to a now adult man who is Autistic amongst other things and I’m happy to have a blather with you.

I think what you’ve done by posting is great and I think you may have just open the door to others posting and looking for chums.

angstyalways · 05/07/2021 17:47

@MaBroon21 thank you for your reply, it's hard to get over that although I'm not very available there is still a need there. Can I dm you?

OP posts:
ClawedButler · 05/07/2021 17:55

Oh I think that's a lovely idea. Feel free to DM me for a blether. Be warned, though, I am prone to sharing terrible jokes Grin

Laiste · 05/07/2021 17:56

Hello OP. I am happy to natter to anyone about anything and can and will waffle on for ages Grin

I'm DM to 4DDs. Three in their 20s and one who is 7. SAHM also, doing massive building project with DH. Mumsnetter for more years than i dare to admit. 2 cats, used to have dogs.

Don't live anywhere near Wales. Debated upon moving there a few years ago instead of starting this building project. In hindsight: shoulda' gone to Wales! HmmGrin
PM me if you fancy a waffle :)

Hellocatshome · 05/07/2021 17:57

Feel free to DM me but beware I am prone to sharing cute photos of otters.

Choice4567 · 05/07/2021 17:58

DM me too. I overshare memes I find on Pinterest. Mainly cringe bad jokes from Twitter!

Akire · 05/07/2021 17:59

Maybe find a thread you interested in on here. I enjoy the soap threads (tv not washing!) for example so you get used to families faces and have a laugh with strangers. It’s not same as meeting up but means you have some interaction while you sort out things more in real life.

Laiste · 05/07/2021 18:04

I should have warned you i talk about kitchens too much GrinWink

MaMelon · 05/07/2021 18:05

Feel free to DM me - I’d love to be in your MN gang! Smile

Funnily enough I’m on holiday with the gang in Pembrokeshire at the moment. I love it down here, I’m planning my retirement here.

Silkiecats · 05/07/2021 18:05

Feel free to DM me. I'm a Mum of 2 children, one 15 year old DD and one 14 year old DS with ASD, 2 silkie chickens, a cat and an indoor rabbit who lives with DS and they generally can be found snuggling on the sofa together.

YouLookSoCool · 05/07/2021 18:14

Not sure if I'm allowed to mention it on here but Netmums used to have a Meet-a-Mum section specifically for trying to meet people in your local area. Hope my Mumsnet membership won't be revoked 😉

WeMarchOn · 05/07/2021 18:16

I'm an autistic adult and have autistic children xx

Bobbiebigbum · 05/07/2021 18:21

Yes! I have some things in common with you which I won't go into on here! Shall I PM you?

angstyalways · 05/07/2021 18:29

Wow! Thank you all for your messages, I already feel so much better!
Thank god you all waffle and natter... I'm a talker to.
Maybe we should start a Mumsnet WhatsApp group? I know some probably won't be comfortable with that, but please let me know if you would.
I love a funny meme, I have far too many Pinterest boards and who doesn't want to see cute otters Grin

I’ll be friends, OP!!

I am a SAHM with a 8,3&1 year old. DS1 (3) also has ASD.

I’m not on Facebook either. I love reading and my Pinterest is full of interiors 😂😂😂😂

HotPenguin · 05/07/2021 18:43

Hey I'd like to chat too! I work part time but it doesn't really give me any opportunity to socialise, especially since covid. I feel I've drifted away from old friends recently. I have two primary aged kids both with autism. It can be quite draining and they aren't always easy to be around. I love reading and walking.

WhateverHappenedToFayWray · 05/07/2021 18:44

Feel free to DM me too, OP.

I am a SAHM and I have a 6 year old DD who is also Autistic

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 05/07/2021 18:57

@Hellocatshome

Feel free to DM me but beware I am prone to sharing cute photos of otters.
Can you just share a photo of an otter anyway on the thread? Grin

I’ll swap you for a cute platypus

Tiredmum100 · 05/07/2021 19:05

Hello, I live in South West Wales, if you'd like a chat!

Skinnymalinksmalogenlegs · 05/07/2021 19:07

Hi, I'm always up for making new friends!

I'm a mum to 3, 16, 14 and 10. I work part-time and come home. Don't have many friends but I'd love a natter and a moan some days. 😁
