When are schools back in September?

Our schools go back on Tue 7 September this time. I'm wanting to find out if any other areas go back sooner - to see if holiday places might be quieter towards the end of the previous week.

So when do you go back and where are you? I'm just looking at England and Wales. I know Scotland go back well before us. Thank you.

Monday 6th September - South Wales.

7 whole weeks off!!!

North east - I’m back sept 1st. My children are back sept 7th. Same local authority…!

Seems late to me. We are back on 2nd (1st is inset day). This is London.

Curious 7 weeks wow! We have less than 6!

2nd September. But we break up this Thursday

One of mine is back Tuesday 7th and the other is Wednesday.

London and primary has got a couple of insets and then goes back on Fri 3rd for one day that for some unknown reason. Secondary starts the week after.

Friday 3rd. The Wednesday and Thursday are inset days. Doncaster.

I thought Friday was an odd day, but on reflection they can get all the admin stuff and everyone catching up on the Friday then hit the ground running properly on the Monday.

2nd September in Peterborough.

25th august for one child and 31st august for the other. We are in Leicestershire. Mine break up on Friday.

Tues 2nd (Lancashire)

I work in a school in Devon and the kids will be coming back really late this September - Monday 13th. We go back on Tuesday 7th and have 4 staff days in a row before the kids come back the following Monday. Seems a bit odd to me but September is always crazy so it will be good to have a bit longer than usual to get set up for the first ‘proper’ day back.

2nd Sept for one child, 6th Sept for the other, I’m back at work on 1st Sept…

7th for DD, though some year groups go back on the 6th. South Wales.

Friday 3rd September (South Wales), although we've not yet been told whether that's for all years or whether there will be some sort of staggered start.

We've booked to go away the end of August/beginning of September. There was definitely more availability then so I figure lots of schools are back the previous week.

6th of September in my London Borough

Dc1 2nd September.
Dc2&3 6th September (although their school is having a staggered start from the Wednesday before - prempting the need to test in school).
We're Yorkshire.

Ours is Mon 6th as inset days the week before. Holidays are definitely quieter and we just booked an Air BnB on the Dorset coast for that week. Bit of a risk as we're supposed to be moving house so if the kids do move school I'm hoping they won't go back earlier!

Technically Thursday 2nd September but ds's school and quite a few others are having teacher training days Thursday and Friday so won't start till Monday 6th. West Midlands.

Oxfordshire - I've got one going back Thursday 2nd, one going back Friday 3rd (same school, but the Y7's get a day on their own before the rest of them come back) and then one at primary is back Monday 6th

1st September in Nottingham

2nd September earliest I’ve known it. Inset is on the 1st sept. We don’t break up til the 24th July! It’s a short holiday this summer.

East Midlands secondary back 1st Sept, primary back 6th

25th August. Leicestershire
