I’m going to campaign for dresses like these to come back into fashion - will you help me?

I can’t understand why they went out of fashion in the first place.

Imagine all the things you could hide under there - so practical. I think I may have to make my own though unless TopShop get on board with my campaign.

They’d certainly help with social distancing, as well.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 04/07/2021 20:57

Shoplifting?

Americam · 04/07/2021 20:59

Precisely - to both of you. It’s a no brainier!

Also somewhere to camp overnight if you need an impromptu adventure.

I’m a textiles geek though and must warn you those kind of skirts require some serious resistant materials craft skills as well as sewing.

They would also be very helpful in covid times when all of the public toilets are closed, you can have a wee down a drain and no one would know.

terrywynne · 04/07/2021 21:02

Fine until you need to go through a doorway or sit down Grin and let's not mention going to the loo

RedLemon · 04/07/2021 21:02

You could also do your ironing on them, serve dinner, hook a couple of wheelie chairs up to them and the kids could be doing their homework under your watchful eye while you wipe surfaces/order some peasants flogged etc.

If I start making one now I could probably have it done by autumn. Autumn 2041.

I imagine the material would have to be so rigid that you could get away with no underwear. Save on the washing, and get a lovely breeze that saves you 'clamming up'.

Americam · 04/07/2021 21:05

Well honestly, they are seriously adaptable aren’t they?

We all need one, and think how easy to transform it from office wear to going out wear? Nice pair of earrings and you’re done.

I'm in! No one will notice my lockdown weight gain.

LeanneBrownsLonelyBraincell · 04/07/2021 21:07

How am I supposed to wee when wearing one?

SuperSange · 04/07/2021 21:07

Plenty of room for pockets!

parttimedrifter · 04/07/2021 21:07

I’m in! So practical

isitjustlockdown · 04/07/2021 21:08

I would love to be in...... but I get the tube so often and I worry I would get stuck in the doors.

Americam · 04/07/2021 21:08

You wouldn’t have to worry about unpacking the weekly shop would you?

You'd have to get through the barriers first Grin

Emanchego · 04/07/2021 21:09

I wish bonnets would come back into style 😏

You could leave half your skirt hanging out the doors and clean the tunnel walls as you go along. TFL would prob give you free travel

Over a drain? Squat & go, no queues for the ladies ever again!
FindingMeno · 04/07/2021 21:10

In black please with some zipped pockets so I don't have to ferret around my underskirts for lipbalm and my phone.

We can campaign for that at the same time

Id bet you'd loose it in no time having to haul around that amount of material. There really are so many benefits to this style.
