Sad news for their children.

This doesn't surprise me as I read something she wrote in the DM Blush last week re: Hancock. It was: www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-9728749/amp/SARAH-VINE-problem-wife-knows-youre-not-Master-Universe.html

newnortherner111 · 02/07/2021 17:46

It cannot be easy for their children, especially given that most parents have strong opinions about their dad.

Sad news for their children.

It might not be sad news. They might welcome this news.
SometimesIFeedTheSparrows · 02/07/2021 17:49

It's probably not news to them.

I do wonder why though. Apart from the obvious he's Michael Gove and she's Sarah Vine issues.

Yes, after that article by Sarah Vine last week, this is the least surprising news ever!

Amrapaali · 02/07/2021 17:55

I remember reading a book long ago by Sarah vine. It was "Backwards in high heels" a very insightful and pragmatic lovely book. Was really surprised to find it was the same Vine dripping poison in the Daily Mail. Good luck to both her and Gove. (Please gods let there not be an ingenue aide or SPAD waiting in the wings..that would be so predictable)

longwayoff · 02/07/2021 17:56

Yes. Gilt's off the gingerbread now. Poor Sarah will never be Mrs PM.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 02/07/2021 17:56

Yes, I gather SV was preparing the ground for this announcement.

YouLookSoCool · 02/07/2021 17:57

Yes, probably sad for their children, but I find both of them completely vile so can't muster a great deal of sympathy for either of them.

SW1amp · 02/07/2021 17:58

It was obviously an open secret given all the thinly-veiled tweets when the Hancock news broke

One of the regular themes on Twitter was that he had already moved out of the marital home and in with a male ‘friend’

Quite a few have fairly robust ones about their mother too
CassandraTrotter · 02/07/2021 18:05

Wow. That article is quite damning.

debbrianna · 02/07/2021 18:06

So Diane abbot knew of this 🤔

Bookridden · 02/07/2021 19:08

Twitter full of rumours that he's gay, but goodness only know if this is just malicious tittle tattle.

TheSpottedZebra · 02/07/2021 19:10

Yes, the twist is appara that the (his) ingenu aide is male.

TheSpottedZebra · 02/07/2021 19:11

(The pedant in me is agonising over aid or aide, paired with ingenu that I have already taken the -e off.)

veeeeh · 02/07/2021 19:19

I am in Ireland. The private lives of our TDs (MPs)and Ministers is off limits completely. No one is bothered by what they do or don't do and long may that remain. I am mildly amused by the awe and salacious journalism/comment about British MPs and their liaisons, sex lives, affairs, divorces, sexuality and so on. Who gives a damn? As long as they do their job as MPs that's all that should matter in the end. Hancock caused such a furore a week ago, but nothing about him anymore now.

I'm just speaking generally, not about posters on the thread.

Mydogisagentleman · 02/07/2021 19:23

Couldn’t give a shiny shit.
Both vile human beings

KaptainKaveman · 02/07/2021 19:28

Yes they are both nasty attention seekers with delusions of grandeur. No sympathy from me!

CommanderBurnham · 02/07/2021 20:26

@veeeeh while I agree that someone's private life should be private, when MPs are hiring their mistresses and snogging them in work time, it's fair game if they are voted in by the electorate, and paid with public funds. Private things happen in private times and private places.

Funny that, I could've told you the name of Charlie Haughey's mistress but I don't even know what his wife was called.

Frownette · 02/07/2021 21:11

@Amrapaali I read that, I liked the cooking bit

What's the collective noun for a group of tory aides?

Surely not a "harem"? No, that's probably too on the nose. A "concealment" of aides? A "scandal" of aides?

nancy75 · 02/07/2021 22:21

A brothel?
