What silly or affectionate nicknames do/did you have for your kids?

Or anyone - your friends kids / nieces / nephews / grandchildren?

I refer to my baby as "little potato" (in my Spanish: papa pequeña).

What silly or sweet nicknames or terms of endearment did you start using?

These are shared between 3 kids by the way we don’t have 7 children.

Loads of silly ones that I can’t remember the origin of.

DS is Thing One, Stinks, Sweet-Pops, Boyster or various plays on his name. He’s 16 and 6’4, so these are strictly indoor pet names lest I embarrass him (and myself) Grin

DD is Thing Two, Noodle Doodle, Curly Sue, Missy Moo, Dolly-Anne and various silly plays on her name. She rolls her eyes at me a lot.

Collectively they are The Kiddles or The Beanheads.

Ds1 was froggy or frogamir because of his little kicking legs, or Lukesta von Pooksta

Ds2, poor thing, still has endless nicknames...piggy wig, wiggy, squidge, figgis, baron von weigenmier, wigamir...he's nearly 12 now and tolerant for the most part although he did put his foot down when he started secondary school and say we weren't allowed to call him wiggy any more. It didn't last! Grin

“Chooch” from the old cartoon
‘Topcoat’ ….. he thought it was a funny name when he was a toddler, so it kind of stuck….
He’s 35 now! Is aghast if I phone him and call him by his proper name and not “Chooch” 😁

Jellybelly and ellibean

CigarsofthePharoahs · 03/07/2021 11:12

Ds1 was peanut, then squiggle.

When ds2 came along they were fiddle and diddle and we never agreed which one was which.

Nowadays it's wallychops or dingleberry.

Angel bear

We've always called my eldest "Pips". She's always been extremely small for her age so my DM started calling her pipsqueak which then graduated to just plain old Pips.

She's 17 this years and we still call her Pips.

Youngest is affectionately named "the dooby" or "dooby" as it rhymes with her name 😂

As a group I refer to my D.C. as Curly-Wurlys. It started when they were tiny as rhyming slang for girlies and just stuck even now they are in their 30s.

@Confusedandshaken

As a group I refer to my D.C. as Curly-Wurlys. It started when they were tiny as rhyming slang for girlies and just stuck even now they are in their 30s.
When I was very small, my Dad's best friend used to call me 'Curly-Wurly' because I had very curly hair. He died when I was 8 or 9, and I'd forgotten that nickname until seeing your post!

My 6'4" hulk of a 16-year-old son is generally referred to as the following:

Poppy Imogen (which got shortened to Pops).
Florence.
Contrary Carey.
Grumpy.
Grumble Grot.
Luggalubs (how he'd mangle "Love you lots" as a toddler).

My oldest, DD(25), was known as 'Bartholomew' when she was a toddler, after a series of books in which a little bear called Bartholomew said "NAH!" an awful lot... This then led to my son having girls' names as nicknames. I still call him Pops every now and then, which amuses his friends no end - thankfully in a non malicious sort of a way! But yes; he can be quite grumpy and typically contrary.
