I just can’t keep those little sock things on my feet when I wear trainers!! I put them on but by the time I get out the garden they’ll have slipped down under my feet.
I can keep the ankle ones on, but because I’m chunky of leg they don’t give me the right look iykwim? It’s driving me bananas and my trainers stink!

I hate trainer socks for this very reason! I’ve found some really good ones in primark though that have a gel on the inside heel to keep them on - they don’t move an inch! 100% recommend.

Seesawmummadaw · 30/06/2021 09:27

Yes yes yes. Stupid things.

Purplefrizz · 30/06/2021 09:28

Ohh thanks yellow! I’m passing a primark tomorrow so I’ll check it out Grin

Have you tried the wool, bamboo or eucalyptus trainers intended to be worn without socks and fully machine washable? Things like : www.allbirds.co.uk/collections/womens

TheLeadbetterLife · 30/06/2021 09:30

Yes trainer socks are shit. I just embrace the 80s look and wear big socks with them, but then I only wear trainers for walking or working out, never for fashion.

niceupthedance · 30/06/2021 09:32

Trainer socks are out now anyway. Just wear big white ones like the 80s

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 30/06/2021 09:33

Mine never stay up, either.

I tried buying the small men’s size from M&S - they didn’t stay up, either.
I think it must be my feet - not the daintiest in the world. 🙁

ShirleyPhallus · 30/06/2021 09:34

I wear Stance trainer socks which are bloody amazing and never fall down inside your shoe

InpatientGardener · 30/06/2021 09:35

I got some invisible trainer liners from next, they have a sticky rubber bit on the heel which keeps them on.

Tangledtresses · 30/06/2021 09:36

Gap used to have great trainer socks with little silicone strips inside but they've stopped making them...

Off to primark! 😀😀

Velvian · 30/06/2021 09:37

Have you tried the ones with the bobble at the back that sits on top of the back of the shoe? I think I've seen them in Tesco.

KatyMac · 30/06/2021 09:38

Oooo @UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme they look fab

I wonder if they use much glue in the making of them

I'm terribly allergic to trainers (& wellies)

MadeForThis · 30/06/2021 09:39

Primark ones are great. They have grips just inside the back of the heel.

Think they have some without grips so check you buy the right ones.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 30/06/2021 09:44

You are not alone OP, and thank you for starting this thread because I am now going to seek out these Primark ones people are recommending.

yumscrumfatbum · 30/06/2021 09:46

You need to get ones with a bit of cuff at the ankle they stay on!

Youdiditanyway · 30/06/2021 09:51

Ha, I’ve always hated them for this reason. I used to get big blisters as a child because they constantly slipped down so my trainers rubbed me. Recall having blood stains in a new pair of Nike trainers once. They’re crap, I haven’t bothered with them for years.

TheLeadbetterLife · 30/06/2021 09:54

Ha ha, really? So I've inadvertently become fashionable again?

80s casual wear was so much more practical - big socks, comfortable jeans, loose cuts. Bring it on, I say.

genericperson123 · 30/06/2021 10:01

Second Primark - the men's ones ones in Primark are good if you're large of hoof Wink

QueenOfDuisburg · 30/06/2021 10:04

I recently bought some in Asda with a little grip thing on the back of them buuuut... they still slipped down.

I have also given up with trainer socks.

PattyPan · 30/06/2021 10:16

I have the same issue so I buy trainer socks in a bigger size. I think they’re normally in something like 3-6 and 7-11 and I’m a 5 so I get the bigger size.

HeronLanyon · 30/06/2021 10:33

I wear invisible socks. I’m ludicrously lucky about the shape/size of the gel strip which holds them in place. Loathe the big thick oval blob on so many. Have some with three small thin stripes of gel which are great.
I also am picky about the elasticity of the top of them. I have small thin feet but some elastic is so vicious that they are painful (right size).
Can’t believe the time I’ve spent discounting various invisible socks. Unfortunately I can’t remember where I bought my great ones and I have only two pairs left !

Well I always thought it was because I have dolls feet 3.5 Blush

Trainer socks are so 2019, embrace the white sports socks!

MistySkiesAfterRain · 30/06/2021 10:43

Try tennis socks from Decathlon. They have added elastic around the foot and a low rise.

MistySkiesAfterRain · 30/06/2021 10:45

Artengo they are called. Juat see past the Artengo writing on the toe.
