I just can’t keep those little sock things on my feet when I wear trainers!! I put them on but by the time I get out the garden they’ll have slipped down under my feet.
I can keep the ankle ones on, but because I’m chunky of leg they don’t give me the right look iykwim? It’s driving me bananas and my trainers stink!

I buy the next size up from my shoe size in men's trainer socks and so far they seem ok. I used to buy my size in women's, the largest you can get, and they'd always shrink in the wash and then fall down when I wore them.

I have some Primark ones too - no gel though. I’m sure it said on the packet that they were for plantar fasciitis or maybe I’m making that up and it was for another foot condition!! Anyway, they are the best trainer socks ever!!

I saw a tip that was something like instead of putting the trainer sock on your foot, put it around the insole of your shoe (maybe get a new insole if the existing insole doesn't come out?). So your feet are bare, but the sole of your foot will still have the sweat absorbed by the trainer sock.
I haven't done this myself but it seems like quite a lot of people wear them this way.

wiggly that’s one of those kind of obvious things that I have NEVER even thought of before ! I am absurdly excited by this and will try out later this afternoon (hope I don’t come hobbling back). Ta for that post (and op for this whole vitally important thread)

That is genius! Well I decided to go to primark today instead of waiting until tomorrow, they had lots of the gel ones but they were all in black , well the few white ones were too big Envy Next stop ..online shopping

Do report back please! I’ve never started a vitally important thread before Grin

Report - it worked ! Wore older trainers where the insole was easy to lift out. Comfy underfoot. Can imagine on a hot day it would be so much cooler but wonder about top of toe rubbing. Think some trainers I have won’t work as well - would need additional insole etc.
So verdict - bloody brilliant at 60 ish degrees - subject to further findings in warmer weather/longer walking. May need a spreadsheet and power point charts Grin.

Ah brilliant Heron that’s good to know! Will await further research and publication of same Grin
