Tie dye 😥

I had a white top ruined with suncream stains. My bright idea was to buy a tie dye kit online and tie dye it.

My tie dye operation is failing badly.

My plan was for pink and green and yellow. I ran out from my colours and at that stage I didn't know what to try next so I decided on a blue and now it looks kinda like navy blue.

It's failing badly. I suspect I will be mopping the floors with my top instead of wearing it.

Wait and see...it might be fine!

Has anyone else tried tie dye?

I like the yellow that I used. That's turning out very nice. Bright and vibrant. Disappointed that it's probably gone to waste in a ruined top.

If I was to do a tie dye job again I think I won't be skimping on the elastic bands. I would definitely use more bands and create smaller sections.

I’ve never tie died before. Would love to try it.

It was definitely fun. I enjoyed it. I think this top will be gone though. I'm not too happy with it so far.

I do have a white vest top that I don't wear any more. I think I might tie dye that with some other colours.

How long does it take?

All the same. Keep us updated. I bet it will look better than you think

I’ve done it with the kids and it was great fun. We did use lots of bands and got really cool patterns. It may be ok!

The instructions say to leave for 8 hours or longer if you wish.

I will leave it 24 hours.

I think it'll look good when it's been washed and dried!
I did it on one of my son's t-shirts and he hated it, ended up bleaching it white again! I thought it looked cool.

I'm nearly tempted to let it dry and then bleach it back to white just to start the process all over again and hopefully do it better next time.

DD got a tie dye kit for Christmas, she used it on plain white t shirts, leggings, paints & bed sheets, none of them were done particularly carefully but all came out well. The beauty of tie dye is that it isn't meant to be neat

My daughter did some recently and it turned out better than expected at the stage your pic’s at! She got a kit for her birthday. I’m going to try some white shorts that I don’t wear. I think the colours in your pic look great!

I didn't leave it in for a full 24 hours. That red was supposed to be pink. I'm now in the process of bleaching it back to white.

Oh yeah, It's not great...practice makes perfect

What design did you want?.did the kit come with instructions for different designs, e.g. Bullseye, stripes, spots? A top of that style will be more difficult than something flat like a t shirt unfortunately
