Fabulous restaurants in London

DH and I are planning a trip to London over our anniversary and my birthday. We want to eat out somewhere special both these nights. Can you give me your best recommendations?? Money is not an issue. We want fabulous food but not over pretentious. Thanks!

Scotts of Mayfair is nice.
Very good food, and excellent, unobtrusive service.
We have both entertained, and been entertained there, and have always been very pleased.

We are thinking about going to Kew Gardens on our anniversary then having lunch out that way. Sadly the Glasshouse isn't open on a Tuesday. Any other suggestions nearby?

Any views on Grill Off the Green, the Antony Worrall Thomson place?

Actually none of the places around there appear to be open for lunch during the week.

We decided to book a pub restaurant in Kew as I will probably be hot and sweaty from walking around Kew Gardens and I definitely won't be dressed up.

On a different note - we have booked tickets to see Hamilton when we are down! I am so excited. We were supposed to see it on Broadway in April 2020 but obviously that didn't happen. DH has bought me the tickets as my birthday gift. I cannot wait.

For low key lunches etc this Australian brunch place has a few places across the city.

Morito in Hackney is lovely and more on the relaxed side and also Honey and Co - food is amazing there. I went to circolo popolare which is Instagram gold and really hard to get a table at and whilst it was gorgeous to look at and really great fun, the food was awful to the point we were all refunded for our main courses - cocktails were great though so much fun still had

For a casual lunch near KG, Ma Cuisine is a five minute walk (near the tube), a sweet little French restaurant and local favourite (with the proviso that I haven’t been there since before covid).

I’ll add Margot great Queen street COv garden. Smart Italian. Not great for vegetarian. Good bar. Bit touristy. Good food.

I see people have beaten me to it w Petersham. Def go there when you’re in kew!

My “occasion meal” pick would be River Cafe.

Would also look at J Sheekey, Wolseley, Roka, bocca di lupo. Hide on Piccadilly has sensational food. Kings X has loads of great options, I love Coal Office or Barrafina.
