DH and I are planning a trip to London over our anniversary and my birthday. We want to eat out somewhere special both these nights. Can you give me your best recommendations?? Money is not an issue. We want fabulous food but not over pretentious. Thanks!

One of the most memorable meals I had was at Ronnie Scott's. The atmosphere was absolutely electric, food was good and the music superb. Just throwing it in as an option.

Hakkasan - amazing food and really attentive staff which helps when you don't know how to navigate the menu let alone the directions to the rest room.

Duck and Waffle (Heron tower) is my go to place for somewhere exciting with friends from out of London

A Wong as someone mentioned earlier is very good indeed.

Is there any particular type of food you enjoy OP? That would help narrow it down - there are so many wonderful places in London

Daffodil Mulligan has become my absolute favourite! I’ve been three time since restaurants re-opened Blush
Gunpowder near Spitalfields
Seabird - fresh seafood with lovely city views

Rules, in Covent Garden.
Londonderry oldest restaurant with a game based menu. Decor to die for. Cocktail bar. A real occasion.

We had great fun at Evans & Peele detective agency. Earls Court Road

ApolloandDaphne · 24/06/2021 07:49

So many wonderful places. Someone asked what sort of food we like. We like all most everything except sushi. I'm going to try and collate all the places you have suggested into a list to sort by type. Thank you for all your fabulous suggestions.

For a couples meal I always love Andrew Edmonds. It’s got an amazing vibe and a fantastic wine list. I like a restaurant with hand written menus that change every few days Smile

Extraordinary take on avant-garde quirky and eclectic Britain culinary history. Variety of intriguing playful dishes each of which represent a particular period or event. Chef’s Table menu for nine courses is recommended for a memorable evening particularly with specially selected wine pairing. One to savour for a special treat!

This looks good. Is it a bar or do you all do a detective experience thing?
