6 year old DD got one for her birthday. I was changing her outfit today and noticed she has nipples 😳 is this really necessary in a doll? Wtf 😵

LOL OMG dolls

They don’t look like teenagers to me they look like toddlers, I don’t know why people Buy them for their kids. But they’re obviously very popular!

LOL OMG dolls
Blindleadingtheblind · 22/06/2021 12:36

They look more like strippers dressed up as toddlers, or is that the other way round, I'm not sure.

The whole premise if them is way off base. I have young boys who don't play with this stuff but if I had daughters, no way would I let them.

minipie · 22/06/2021 12:41

I find it more creepy that they got youthful, almost childlike facial features, covered in slap and full grown hips and titties

Yeah this
What kind of message is that sending.
Ugh

And commenting as I have thrown out some LOL surprise dolls I got as a job lot from ebay. My daugheter had them in the bath and some changed colour two had suspenders and strappy bondage looking bras

They sound fake. DD has hundreds —of the damn things— and not one has done that.

Not sure why people buy them
LoopTheLoops · 22/06/2021 12:50

They are not fakes, it takes 2 seconds to google to see that they are not fake.

WeatherwaxOn · 22/06/2021 12:54

The amount of plastic crap they are packed in and with got them an immediate ban in our house so no idea what they look like undressed!

HarrisMcCoo · 22/06/2021 12:57

Horrible things. I have four sons so it's easy for me to have that opinion as they are very unlikely to cross the threshold. All these toys seem to be very grown up in appearance. Completely unnecessary. Parenting is tough enough as it is without all that crap for sale influencing children.

cocoloco987 · 22/06/2021 12:57

The boy dolls have a penis too. Everyone has nipples so couldn't be offended

Isidore · 22/06/2021 12:58

LOL doll... Lolita?

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 22/06/2021 13:02

Carrie and Christopher.

Blast from my past that Grin

I don't buy these ones as they are too expensive but dd got her first normal LOL for the first time in ages the other day and there were a lot less of the plastic bits and came in cardboard rather than plastic wrap

AlmostSummer21 · 22/06/2021 13:05

@mimi14

There's nothing wrong with nipples, but what is the point of them on a doll. What's wrong with Barbie type boobs 😂
My barbie has nipples

Babies have nipples
Everyone (well almost) has nipples

Same as elbows.

Stop being daft!!

AlmostSummer21 · 22/06/2021 13:09
@DearFrutti I’m 52 and when I was a child I had Carrie and Christopher baby dolls that were about the size of a LOL doll - Christopher had a Willy!
I'm 52 & still have mine!!

Everyone else I mention them too just looks at me like I've made them up!!

Poorlykitten · 22/06/2021 13:09

I’d be more worried about her face.

irresistibleoverwhelm · 22/06/2021 13:11

Christ my eyes! The second one which looks like Stewie the baby at a fetish club is just - words fail me 😮

Which teenagers in the real world have sexualised Kim Kardashian type bodies like that? The fact these are being marketed to little girls with that porny aesthetic is horrible. No wonder teenage girls want to turn themselves into boys FFS. ☹️

AlmostSummer21 · 22/06/2021 13:21

@BlowDryRat

DD has a few of these over-packaged monstrosities. One of them is a baby with a dummy. If you dip that one in warm water then she gets knee-high boots and leopard print knickers Confused
No wonder they're called OMG dolls!!

The thing is, what we see as adults, isn't what children see whether it's a doll or whatever. Children don't see Lacy knickers as sexy, they just see knickers

YEARS ago someone bought the 4 yo a BRATZ lifestyle doll, it had heels, piercings, weird make up etc and I didn't let her have it, Looking back I was probably a bit OTT but it just seemed so inappropriate , but these days I'm less concerned as I realise they don't see things the same.

Same as I let her play with as much make up as she wanted, but it was not allowed to be worn out if the house, she went through a stage with it, then moved onto something else and never wore it as a preteen or much other than mascara as a teen.. it's not a slippery slope!

I’m afraid that long years of pretending to make my friend’s Barbies and Kens fuck each other (way back in the eighties!) says no to that idea 🤣

What makes you think children don’t pick up on the messages about sex that every bit of our culture sends them? It’s a nice idea, but I can tell you that primary school PSHE starts dealing with issues of sex and bodies pretty early, and you won’t find many kids who don’t pick up on the ways that women are heavily sexualised.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 22/06/2021 13:32

if they wanted the boobs to be more realistic they should've made them less perky

Worriesome · 22/06/2021 13:34

@mimi14 - the dolls are truly despicable, my DD has a few and the body shape is so unrealistic and she actually asked me why they had such wide hips. Very inappropriate I’d say x

Hallyup6 · 22/06/2021 13:35

It's not the anatomy that bothers me so much. I've seen plenty of dolls for toddlers with nipples or willies but they're always somewhat realistic. It's the blatant sexualisation of dolls that are designed for young girls to play with. It's absolutely disgraceful and I refuse to buy any for my children.

PaperMonster · 22/06/2021 13:42

@AlmostSummer21 I am very envious of the fact that you still have your Carrie and Christopher!! What used to annoy me was that they were really just a bit too big to be the babies of my Sindy and Barbie, which is what I wanted them to be!!

MarshaBradyo · 22/06/2021 13:45

Isn’t that part of the issue what is hyper something (freaky, sexy, odd) is normalised for the child.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 22/06/2021 13:45

Sindy and Barbie? Christopher and Carrie parents?

Oh no no kitty kat.

Pippa. Pippa was their mam along with eagle eye action man in this house. Grin

GreenWhiteViolet · 22/06/2021 13:52

I'd be less worried about the nipples and more about the bizarre proportions. Enormous eyes and tiny nose? Large eyes are supposed to make a figure look more childlike, but the waist/hips are anything but.

I'd be very worried about the people designing these dolls and marketing them to young children. They make Barbie look positively wholesome in comparison.
