6 year old DD got one for her birthday. I was changing her outfit today and noticed she has nipples 😳 is this really necessary in a doll? Wtf 😵

I think the OMG ones are supposed to be teenagers.

My DD has one. I hate hate hate it. I can tolerate normal lol ones because I managed to get DD into learning about chibi and other forms of anime and she loves drawing. But these omg ones are too much. Her one has a lacy bra and huge heels. She only got it a few weeks ago though as a gift so I'm going to wait a few weeks and strategically lose it behind the sofa.

PaperMonster · 21/06/2021 21:56

@DearFrutti I’m 52 and when I was a child I had Carrie and Christopher baby dolls that were about the size of a LOL doll - Christopher had a Willy!

@mimi14

I think the OMG ones are supposed to be teenagers.
they want teenagers to be even more insecure seeing these unrealistic figures in dolls from when they are young, to photoshopped/cosmetically enhanced 'stars' that are paid millions just because they have this plastic look, botoxed and filled up creatures like kim kardashian/kylie jenner (large pert breasts, tiny waist, hourglass figure with flat stomach, huge arse from a BBL, pumped up lips, tons of make up) going to make a whole generation of kids depressed with how they look naturally... But I am sure advertising companies, cosmetics industry and plastic surgeons must be laughing all the way to the bank, what a sad society. soon you will have to have some kind of procedure to appear 'acceptable' Feel so bad for girls mental health especially as they are now being indoctrinated from the age of a toddler, discusting.
DearFrutti · 21/06/2021 22:05

@PaperMonster Oh, yes, I remember them too! Smile

GreyhoundG1rl · 21/06/2021 22:08

I thought the point of these dolls was that they looked like toddlers, unlike Barbies who look (supposedly) look like women?
Am I confusing them with something else? That's one shapely toddler!

BlowDryRat · 21/06/2021 22:15

DD has a few of these over-packaged monstrosities. One of them is a baby with a dummy. If you dip that one in warm water then she gets knee-high boots and leopard print knickers Confused

BathwaterBaby · 21/06/2021 22:21

What the actual fuck. I thought this was a joke for adults based around LOLs. So you can actually buy a children's doll that looks like a sex toy?

My 5yo is desperate for an LOL and this is a new huge reason why she's not getting one. Jesus Christ. Designed by paedophiles.

Blindleadingtheblind · 21/06/2021 22:28

I think the Barbie brand has fone the correct way now. They make dolls in all sorts of shapes/sizes, some with disabilities. A lot more 'normal' looking than the standard barbie doll and a far cry from the LOL monstrosity posted here.

DramaAlpaca · 21/06/2021 22:29

Missing the point I know, but what a revolting doll Shock

EvenRosesHaveThorns · 21/06/2021 22:44

Eeeh, that doll is so unnecessarily sexualised, no way is that acceptable for child. Makes Barbie look like a nun!

Womendohavevaginasnick · 21/06/2021 22:50

Baby Annabel has nipples too

LOL OMG dolls
Ingridla · 21/06/2021 22:50

What a horrible toy Sad

goddessofmischief · 21/06/2021 22:55

I remember the weird boobs and torso on the 90s Barbie dolls. Graduated down to more slimline as time went on. LOL dolls have been controversial for a while. I do confess to going through DD's box of proper dolls and dressing them in the outfits they came in though, rather than naked or mismatched Grin

VodselForDinner · 21/06/2021 22:55

Revolting doll, and the nipples are the least of it.

Blindleadingtheblind · 21/06/2021 22:59

I just googled the baby LOL dolls which change when dipped in water. Who the fuck designed those??? Totally inappropriate. I would never buy them for any child. I'm surprised they haven't been banned.

nowayjose2 · 21/06/2021 23:59

@Womendohavevaginasnick

Baby Annabel has nipples too
that is in no way comparable to a blatantly sexualised doll that is supposed to be for toddlers that has exaggerated hips, breasts, a tiny waist, blown up lips, full makeup, and is wearing a thong. are you serious with your post?
Shehasadiamondinthesky · 22/06/2021 00:06

I'm more concerned with the massive ET eyes and high rise pants, she looks like a porn star.

Peach01 · 22/06/2021 00:31

Don't care about the nipples, nipples are normal but he nipples add to the already inappropriateness of them. They're dressed like hookers and look like they have enhanced Kardashian bodies. Some of them have fish nets or thigh highs. Gutter dolls 😂
Poor Barbie got a hard time for being thin and blonde.

LoopTheLoops · 22/06/2021 00:45

I don’t buy them for my daughters, I think they’re gross.

Yep, those dolls are all kinds of wrong. It's quite worrying that people actually buy them for their children - they are so freakish! Shock
Womendohavevaginasnick · 22/06/2021 07:05

I'm just making the point that nipples aren't unusual on toys. It really is the last thing to be concerned or outraged about. I'm not saying there aren't issues with the dolls. But nipples aren't what's wrong with them.

MarshaBradyo · 22/06/2021 07:10

The whole thing is odd

5128gap · 22/06/2021 07:26

The dolls are clearly intended as teenagers and designed to reflect the aspirational body type and look of today. The body shape doesn't look particularly weird to me, although I agree it's not helpful for girls to believe they should aspire to any particular shape. Having the dolls in a range of body shapes would be more inclusive, but the ones with that shape would probably still be the most popular, as its the shape seen all over the media as aspirational at the moment.
The style of underwear sounds inappropriate and if that's the case I would be asking for a refund on the grounds the doll is not fit for purpose, ie, to be played with by a young child.
Otherwise, if I disapproved of a toy I wouldn't wait passively for its popularity to die out. I wouldn't allow my child to have it.
