Hi everyone I'm 22 with a 16month old girl. After a scare I took her to the hospital laat monday. I usually go out everyday but this week I havnt so that's the main day i couldve got anything.
Thursday I started getting a sore lower back.
Saturday that lower back pain turned in to entire body aches, i got a headache when the body aches started. I felt week. I had a low fever, then 9ish I got really cold and the fever jumped up to 38.9 on my head.

Next morning I was perfectly fine.
Sunday night I'm trying to sleep and then a fever comes on, this time I cant sleep the entire night because my body is just so cold and shaking. Fall asleep 5 ish. Get up with my chis 6.30 and I'm really warm, but perfectly fine. If I breath in tk the max my chest feels a bit thickly but it's extremely mild.

No one else in the house is sick with anything, just me. I tested on the Saturday but it was negative. Is it worth another test? Does it sound like something else

Other viruses are available. Could be a cold, flu, anything really. If the test is negative then ride it out for a bit then see a Dr if it continues after a couple of weeks?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 21/06/2021 07:56

Did you take a LFT or a PCR?

It's probably just a virus, like everyone used to have before covid- and still do but everyone has forgotten that all the same bugs are still around.

Get better soonSmile

I would take another test.

Retty · 21/06/2021 07:56

Take another test and then ring your gp if still worried and its negative.

SoupDragon · 21/06/2021 07:57

I agree - it just sounds like an "ordinary" virus like we used to have before Covid. I do think we've become blinkered now (unsurprisingly!)

spotcheck · 21/06/2021 07:58

Sometimes that happens if you are fighting something off.

Echobelly · 21/06/2021 08:00

There are a few other viruses doing the round - heard of a few friends who have been ill with a feverish bug but tested negative.

Sophie1029734 · 21/06/2021 08:01

Yes I did just put it down to a normal bug, it's just the comeing and going of it all. I'm confused why LO isnt feeling some sort of way because we are so close all the time, we sat in the same area at the hospital so wouldnt she show sighns of illness before me? Ahe does breastfeed though

The PCR test is more accurate than the LFT but can still give a false negative quite often. Your symptoms sound very much like covid whilst your family might be asymptomatic. I would be inclined to get tested again asap - treat it as though you have covid in the meantime. I know of instances where people have had 2 -ve tests in a row but later shown to have the antibodies- it's not uncommon to have negative tests but still actually have covid.

I have the at home 30min test, how do you go about getting the other one ? Sorry I know about all the restriction but dont know how to go about getting the other test

What is the difference between them

www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

However, how's your lower back now? Any issues with peeing? I'm thinking kidney infection based on the first onset of symptoms (I'm not a medical person though!).

stayathomegardener · 21/06/2021 08:56

Sounds like my experience of Covid.

Bluntness100 · 21/06/2021 08:57

Sounds like a kidney or urine infection to me. You might need some anti biotics, call your gp.

eurochick · 21/06/2021 08:59

I also thought kidney infection.

DancesWithDaffodils · 21/06/2021 09:02

The 30 min at home tests are a crude screening tool. They miss cases, but they also pick up some asymptomatic cases
If you have symptoms, you need a PCR test - from the government which takes longer, but is much more accurate.
You will need to look at the time scales carefully - there is a limit on days past starting to feel I'll they can be used accurately.

Carycy · 21/06/2021 09:03

There are plenty of other viruses that can do that. If it’s the proper home test kit that’s fine. I have had all sorts of weird virus in the past. Not everything is covid.

Sophie1029734 · 21/06/2021 09:07

I havnt had any pain or any burning when I pee. When I was experiencing body aches the first time, I had a really warm pee?

OP posts:
MoltonSilver · 21/06/2021 09:08

It sounds like it might be a urinary tract infection of some sort but you need to ask a Dr.

MoltonSilver · 21/06/2021 09:09

The cold and shaking (rigors) is typical of a urinary tract infection.

Jellifer · 21/06/2021 09:12

The 30 minute LFT tests are for people with no symptoms. You need to book a PCR test to rule out covid but it does sound as if you might have a urinary tract infection.

casualacquaintance · 21/06/2021 09:26

Sounds like a urine infection. Contact your gp

Sophie1029734 · 21/06/2021 09:36

I do have a bit of a lower bad back, I did have pain where my kidneys are and do have cramps. My abdomen is sensitive and hurt when LO climbs on me. I never considered a kidney infection as I've had no sighns of a uti, I usually get burning down there and burning when I pee. Its completely possible though. I wake up in the night with an extreme urge to pee.m about 3 times a night. I'm just in a que for the doctors x thank you everyone
