When I'm going through the channels to go up in numbers you have to press the bloody down button and vice versa.

With normal sky you could press the play button to bring up your recordings and play something.

Now the play button just pauses the effing screen.

Nothing makes sense.

I've had Sky Q for 2 years now and the reason I haven't got used to it yet is because NOTHING MAKES SENSE.

They have massively over complicated it all to the point where I've looked and still looking to leave them.

Anyone else hate SkyQ?

Yep! Can't set a reminder or switch back to the previous channel like you could do before. So frustrating!

Bryonyshcmyony · 19/06/2021 08:13

Yes, me. I've had it for 6 months now and still don't understand it. It's over complicated and also the quality of the picture is shit compared to my old Sky

Oh yes! I forgot about that function!

That's the thing, they have over complicated it so much that I use the whole thing much less.

Literally switch on, change channel, switch off.

I used to use all the other features but now I use nothing.

And if you record something it goes into the recording folder, which is different to the catch up folder. I can never find anything.

No.

SKY IS STUPID

I used to press the middle button and it would tell me what was on now and next. Now it seems to tell me what the last person was watching in tiny white writing and I hate it.

It often fails to series link.

It lost all the saved programmes when it arrived.

It makes a hissing noise every night at 3am.

The wifi connection needs redone about every five minutes, nothing else has this issue. Hate it

EssaysOfElia · 19/06/2021 08:27

I used to use the new series feature on sky. That disappeared and I was convinced by sky to upgrade to Sky Q for all their great features! Can’t find this anywhere and can’t understand how to use it at all! Not impressed!

FlyingFlamingo · 19/06/2021 08:27

The play the next episode function isn’t as good - it used to be as soon as the actual programme finished the next episode played - now you have to go back through the menu, or wait until the end of the entire recording (so a good few minutes later) for the next episode to start. And deleting after watching isn’t as simple.

Has anyone discovered how to ‘catch up’ during the ads? As in when I start watching say a 9pm programme at 5 past, during the break I used to press the sky button to go back to the ‘live’ programme to watch it in real time - that doesn’t seem to be an option anymore, unless I’ve missed it?

BiggerBetterHealthier · 19/06/2021 08:27

seems we aren't the only ones.
I wonder if we can downgrade?!

Actually I don't think we can because we changed the dish.

I'm always turning on at 10 past and unable to rewind. It's infuriating.

No, I don't think it does any more. I've tried many times and fail.

I’ve found my people!! We’ve had it for around 2 years now and I still hate it.

My biggest bugbear though is the fucking teeny tiny slippery remote controls.

The number of times I’ve dropped it or it’s flown out of my hand, and don't get me started on how sensitive the buttons are - you barely have to breathe on it and it changes channel or it jumps out of the recording you were watching and takes you back to the home page.

Give me a chunky, heavy, rubberised old school sky remote any day!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 19/06/2021 08:31

None of these posts bears any resemblance to the Q remote we have! It's easy peasy and I love the fact you can talk to it. I wonder if they've upgraded since the original one?

Bryonyshcmyony · 19/06/2021 08:33

I have the newest version.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 19/06/2021 08:33

Now just press the SKY button and it brings up your recordings.

MrsJackRackham · 19/06/2021 08:34

If you press the button to the right of the middle, round button it will show you the last watched channel in a banner down the bottom of the screen.
If you've paused and want to go back to live press the back button, to the left of home.

Ivy48 · 19/06/2021 08:34

My biggest hate is that you can’t just carry on a programme where you left off! Regularly fall asleep etc and the programme I’ve recorded will end but you have bloody fast forward the whole thing to find where you were! Can’t just type in 20 minutes on the planner it have automatic play back!

BiggerBetterHealthier · 19/06/2021 08:38

Yes! I only realised recently that you can no longer do that.

What the fuck were sky thinking?

Not able to browse what's on whilst watching a pre recorded programme without going into TV guide, miss that about the old sky :(

JM10 · 19/06/2021 08:58

When I'm watching a series I have several times deleted the next episode instead of the one I have just watched then I have to go find it in the deleted folder and bring it back.

CircusMistress · 19/06/2021 09:01

I don't get on with it either. We were convinced to upgrade to sky Q when we enquired about improving our broadband and both are worse now than they ever were. Also seriously thinking of switching.

We moved house and they had upgraded and we had no choice 😭

Just press forward to skip through the ads and it will catch up with live TV then auto change over to the live channel. It's all so much easier to use than the old Sky, it sounds like some people through the thread have poor connections or haven't set the box up properly

You just press the back button to get back to live viewing. I do that all the time
