You can post multiple times but there must be at least one post in between.
@Gingerkittykat

were you smoking when you were 12?
Nope, that was first year so still a good girl then.

It was second year so around 13 or 14 that the smoking started.

My DD and her friend used to go down to Poundland and buy huge packs of Haribo and biscuits with their dinner money, crisps sounds like a healthier option!

KurtWilde · 18/06/2021 15:29

I was an absolute goody goody as a teenager, but then I had overprotective parents who dropped me at the school gates and picked me up at teatime everyday without fail. No chance of being naughty. I saved that up for when I went to college haha

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 18/06/2021 15:32

🤣🤣🤣
I think I love you!

you know my sister and her bestie had their first cigarette when they were 11.
(I hate smoking, so I had my first one when I was 24 but instantly regretted it).
it was quite funny that both my dad & mum knew about it for over a year but they didn't know the other one knew 🤣

my mum found a fag end in her lunch box so told her to promise to stop and she wouldn't tell dad.
my dad saw her & bestie smoking out of the window while gardening and hosed them down. also told them to stop else he'd tell mum.

I was blissfully unaware of it all

AutistGoth · 18/06/2021 15:38

@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba This was in Magyarórszag, right?

I've never smoked... tobacco, that is. shuts up quickly

PandemicAtTheDisco · 18/06/2021 15:39

@FlowerPower3110

Just read that you're having a hard time with your daughter PandemicAtTheDisco. I have 4 younger ones so can't give any advice at all, but I just wanted to say: please don't be too hard on yourself!

Sending you virtual hugs (insert heart emoji)

Thanks.

The school wellbeing service have been in touch and provided lots of informative links to look at. They placed a lot of emphasis on the fact she recognised she was struggling and went to them for help - which is actually a very positive step.

I think when things are difficult then a stable environment is much more important. Covid just pushes everyone a bit closer to that edge. I think I'm the one she feels most safe to lash out at.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 18/06/2021 15:55

@AutistGoth

yes & A+ for excellent effort!
(It's Magyarország, but close enough😉)

AutistGoth · 18/06/2021 15:56

Ah! Köszönöm. My beloved piano tea

PurpleyBlue · 18/06/2021 15:59

How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

UnlimitedChipsAndSalsa · 18/06/2021 16:08

Teens sound tough! Still a long way off that with DD.

I pressed post too quickly, sorry about that. I didn't want to break the rule of doubling up on a post.

Köszönöm, @ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba. My beloved piano teacher is Magyar. I'm not much good with the language, but he is helping me. I like to say "Igen Úram*," when he asks me to play a piece and he laughs and says "nice one!"

*We're friends, despite what the overly formal language would imply.

Looks like it's YouTubers shouting at Fortnite for the next couple of hours in my house.

Is it too early for wine..Hmm

@UnlimitedChipsAndSalsa

I like camping except for the being damp part.
I like it apart from the camping part Grin
KurtWilde · 18/06/2021 16:25

Thanks all Smile

UnlimitedChipsAndSalsa · 18/06/2021 16:26

That's "some lovelies", not "done lovelies". I couldn't fix it until another post. Thanks, KatherineJaneway

That's a fantastic response, if I had been hosed down I would have thought twice about smoking, or at least got better at hiding it!

AutistGoth · 18/06/2021 16:39

My grandma once told me that her dad (a fanatical anti-smoker) once caught her smoking at the age of seventeen or so and decided to "cure" her by making her a sandwich with the contents of an ashtray and making her eat it! Envy < Not envy.

I really hope she was pulling my leg.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 18/06/2021 16:41

@AutistGoth

that is so sweet!

I did wonder earlier what "piano tea" was 😁

UnlimitedChipsAndSalsa · 18/06/2021 16:42

AutistGoth Oh, that is rank!

Only at 620ish posts...is this taking as long as you thought @UnlimitedChipsAndSalsa?

FlowerPower3110 · 18/06/2021 16:49

Ughh AutistGoth that sounds horrible!!

AutistGoth · 18/06/2021 16:58

@UnlimitedChipsAndSalsa There is of course the possibility that she was having me on. This would have been in the 1940s. Men generally didn't make sandwiches then. I comfort myself with that thought.

@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba Thanks. Yeah, he's great. Like a big brother as much as a music teacher. He's in Magyarország now (though he normally lives in England) looking after his widowed mum.
