electrician has just arrived.
is it 11am already?😁

I call him our stray cat; he turns up whenever, leaves to get stuff, returns unexpectedly 🤣🤣

@KurtWilde

Thanks.

I have no idea how to proceed. I don't know how much is my fault and what I'm expected to do.

I feel guilty for failing her but also have no idea how to help.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 18/06/2021 12:50

Pandemic

I didn't see what the problems are (you don't need to indulge details) but sorry you are struggling.

4 teenagers here but I doubt I could give you good advice, I have no idea what I'm doing🙈
sending you hugs instead x

HannaHat · 18/06/2021 13:12

Aww Pandemic, mum of a 16 year old girl here, virtual hugs to you ❤️

ElGuardiandenoche · 18/06/2021 13:13

2nd load of laundry just about to finish in the machine. I love sunny weather! Grin

ElGuardiandenoche · 18/06/2021 13:18

Lots of Fill the thread up hugs (but very unMumsnetty hugs) @PandemicAtTheDisco

HoollyWugger · 18/06/2021 13:18

Pandemic - I've survived - just!! - through three daughters; hang on in there and go back to toddler tactics. Their brains are messed up in teenage years - imagine her with a sign saying "This brain is under (re)-construction". And don't take anything personally. I have another foster child with major SEMH issues and get told I'm a fucking twat on regular occasions. Rubber skin, but it's easier said than done, I know. Hugs for solidarity.

Right - oven cleaned, shower being de-moulded, Woolly Hug underway, and new thread started about whether this is hypomania ...

I managed to get three washed and dried in the line in one day a few days ago. No chance today.

DS2 (17) has just admitted that when he was at high-school and we gave him money for the bus he'd sneak on and spend the money on sweets & crisps.

I always knew there was an air of mystery about empty crisp packets.
(I shook my head in disbelief but still laughed)

KurtWilde · 18/06/2021 13:42

Pandemic yeah that's something I can definitely sympathise with. And they're all different so the approach has to suit the kind of teenager you have. My DS just won't take advice or criticism. If he tells me I problem and I instantly try to fix it (as is my style), it causes friction. So I have to tailor my parenting to his character. I hang back, wait for him to come to me, and then offer solutions he might like to try. Far less agro and he comes to me more often now. My eldest DD, she's the opposite, she's always wanting my input and is so easy to handle and talk to. My younger ones.. well that waits to be seen really!

ElGuardiandenoche · 18/06/2021 14:00

I have been washing our bedding, pillows and duvets today but can’t hang them out as DH and I have hay fever so it’s got to go through the tumble dryer.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 18/06/2021 14:11

DS2& DS3 are cooking their lunch

DS2 & I are about to watch Sweden v. Slovakia game.
school pick up in half time, he's gonna jump out of car to get DS5 & DD .
I ain't even getting dressed, pjs are fine for a chauffeur.
DS6 picked up by a friend, DS4 is taking bus home.

then at 5.30 DH will drive me to get jab. He'll wait in the car with 2 youngest, it's a just turn up invite so no idea how long it will be.

then I have to take DS3 to a friend's while DH makes dinner.
then we are all sitting down to watch England v Scotland.

then something else no doubt

Thanks everyone. We are hopefully getting a handle on the situation.

One of my daughter's friends has an eating disorder and another of her friends is very ill. She hadn't said a word to me about it. She has been confiding in her father and we have a plan going forward to support her more.

I'd never have been able to cope with more than one child. One is more than enough! I don't know how people manage. It has been a hard journey so far. I was so worried I'd handled her badly this week because she's been so difficult and I was impatient with her.

In my day the bus money was saved for cigarettes, kids these days are so tame!

My tummy hurts, the long awaited gastroenterology appointment is next week.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 18/06/2021 15:03

@Gingerkittykat

were you smoking when you were 12?

FlowerPower3110 · 18/06/2021 15:07

Just read that you're having a hard time with your daughter PandemicAtTheDisco. I have 4 younger ones so can't give any advice at all, but I just wanted to say: please don't be too hard on yourself!

Sending you virtual hugs (insert heart emoji)

PurpleyBlue · 18/06/2021 15:08

Just saw a man with a very tall England flag hat so I'm guessing there is more football on? He was swigging from a bottle of cider so maybe it's been on and they lost?

funnyoldonion · 18/06/2021 15:09
