we usually eat dinner around 7 - 7.30pm, but I haven't even put the food on because it's just too hot to turn the oven on!

I've already defrosted the chicken breasts so way past the point of no return (can't leave it for another day, already have other stuff lined up this week), but I just want to serve cereal & milk with ice cubes! 😁

what are you having tonight?

I know what you mean 🥵
If you have a gas bbq - use that!
Or cut the breasts up and fry them - will be hideous while you’re at the stove but warms up the house less than using the oven.

We are having lamb chops (grilled or fried not sure yet) and a chickpea salad. But won’t be eating till 9ish when it’s cooler (dc fed already)

Tlollj · 14/06/2021 19:16

I’ve just had a salad. Couple of pork pies too.

Babymamamama · 14/06/2021 19:17

Pre cooked packet Mackerel flaked into salad with olives and mozzarella. Way too hot to heat anything up.

It's 14 degrees here in Yorkshire, and my feet are freezing Sad.

Babymamamama · 14/06/2021 19:18

25 degrees in the south east still.

Lipz · 14/06/2021 19:18

I'm so fucking jealous, I'm in Ireland and it's raining, dark clouds and too miserable to think up ideas of what to make. I'm in my jeans and jumper and earlier I had to wear my heavy rain jacket and I couldn't even hold up an umbrella because of the wind. I'm thinking of ordering something, maybe order something in yourself as I remember cooking in high heat being a pain, it's a distant memory but I do recall a little heatwave last year.

garlictwist · 14/06/2021 19:18

Jealous. Cold, grey and windy here. I've got my coat on inside and have just had a massive pizza.

Councilworker · 14/06/2021 19:19

14 here in Greater Manchester too. The heating has clicked on again.

Dementedswan · 14/06/2021 19:19

Chicken kiev and salad. Too warm for anything else.

MaybeCrazy2 · 14/06/2021 19:20

It is so hot we had cereal for dinner.

Nohomemadecandles · 14/06/2021 19:21

If you bbq, for God's sake don't tell anyone on here! Grin

S'gone chilly here

BrutusMcDogface · 14/06/2021 19:22

I did the kids “packed teas”; they had school dinner today. They love me packing a big lunchbox full of all the food groups Grin and what is more, they eat way more veg when it’s raw and in a lunchbox. 🙄

No idea what I’m having, yet.

RampantIvy · 14/06/2021 19:23

Yes please Grin
I should have worn socks today.

MistySkiesAfterRain · 14/06/2021 19:25

I was just thinking it was too hot for the oven as I slung yesterdays left over in the microwave and pondered how bad are microwaves for the environment. I had lamb meatballs with aubergine and persian quinoa/lentils. Frankly my mouth is on fire and I'm sweating.

This! We had lasagne.
IAmDaveTheSerialShagger · 14/06/2021 19:30

Someone just posted a thread about her new neighbours barbecuing all their meals! I loose my appetite when it's hot, I think I will have some cheesecake all that's it!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 14/06/2021 19:31

managed to push myself and they are in the oven now.

but I refuse to cook rice and peas so it's bread & cheese for hot sandwiches and leftover salad from yesterdays bbq.

tomorrow we have bolognese and I'm so glad I just have to defrost & warm up, not cook from scratch!

@Babymamamama your mackerel thing sounds lovely.

sorry about freezing peeps in the northern direction (I'm in Surrey).

BruceAndNosh · 14/06/2021 19:36

You will have glittery poo tomorrow
BruceAndNosh · 14/06/2021 19:38

I made a chicken and roast squash curry tonight which required 200 degrees oven on for an hour.
I sat in the garden, it was cooler than the kitchen

Babymamamama · 14/06/2021 19:45

@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba thanks yes mackerel salad was yum and more importantly avoided any putting on of the dreaded oven. I’m trying to lose weight too so making quite an effort with my semi healthy eating but that’s another story/thread. It’s still 24 degrees now - this is when I need a private swimming pool (I can dream).

Ohdofuckofdear · 14/06/2021 19:51

We had a chicken noodle stir fry, brilliant for when the weathers so hot it took 10 minutes to cook on the hob so no need for the oven to be on.
