Wallah! It's the first time I've seen voilà written this way. But when I think about it, it seems like a really obvious thing to do so I wonder how common it is.
Is it a "thing" that I've just missed before now?

Oh is it Parmesan?

arithanaggerton · 14/06/2021 21:05

I used to think it was Chester drawers. I know, I struggle to sleep at night because of it.

Something I can't stand is "could care less". That means you do care because it's possible for you to care less than you already do! Arrgh!!!!!

@OpalBerry

One thing that always tickles me, (and I am amazed no-one has said this yet,) is when people write on a memoriam for someone who has died, 'you are now with the angles.'

I have seen this written soooooo many times now! Shock

MakeMineAdoubleChocolate · 14/06/2021 21:07

I saw wallah everyday lol. Its I swear to God in Arabic

But the classic one is chester draws. And discusting.

ChrisOnTheBeach · 14/06/2021 21:07

@Salome61

Anyone else know people who say chimley instead of chimney?
Yeah, and hospikal, and sumberine. Grin
arithanaggerton · 14/06/2021 21:08

@ChrisOnTheBeach I see so much of this on Facebook. Obviously I don't say anything, but I always get an image of the deceased person in heaven surrounded by various obscure shapes. It's not funny in the least but it's the image I get.

Benjispruce3 · 14/06/2021 21:09

Acute or obtuse? Smile

suspiria777 · 14/06/2021 21:10

Oh is it Parmesan?
bingo! I think because the waiter asks permission before grating it over your risotto or whatever?
roobicoobi · 14/06/2021 21:11

@Salome61

Ambliance too

MakeMineAdoubleChocolate · 14/06/2021 21:12

Someone once told me they are struggling with their renteries. She meant rent arrears.

Inastatus · 14/06/2021 21:13

Love these. My fave today was someone on a local site selling an inflatable hot tub which was in good condition ‘except for a small puncher’.

walchesterweasel · 14/06/2021 21:14

I saw an estate agent one, the house had a ' gallery kitchen '

Nothappyland · 14/06/2021 21:14

@PeterOhanrahahanrahan

Damp squid. I've known people who believe it's "damp squid", maybe because it's a better visual image than the actual phrase. I'm sure a couple of weeks ago I heard a R4 presenter say "damp squid".
This one’s driving me mad, I can’t work out what damp squid is! Blush
Benjispruce3 · 14/06/2021 21:14

I saw ‘air to the throne’ written once and mused that it was a regal passing of wind.

arithanaggerton · 14/06/2021 21:15

I accidentally once told my husband to get the Durex paint when I meant Dulux.

Damp squib

Benjispruce3 · 14/06/2021 21:16

@Nothappyland it should be damp squib. A squib is an unremarkable explosion/firework hence the meaning being a bit of an anticlimax.

Grin puncher!
DaphneMoonsSeattle · 14/06/2021 21:19

@Nothappyland It should be 'damp squib' not 'damp squid'

A squib is a type of explosive. If damp, it won't go off so would deliver a disappointing anti-climax and be a let down if you were expecting an explosion.

bonbonours · 14/06/2021 21:19

@MistySkiesAfterRain

I always thought it was alum key. You know made of aluminium, who the heck is allen anyway 😂
In my favourite book "A man called Ove" the main character is appalled when someone else refers to it as an Eileen key 🙂

PS my husband is Allen, I'm always asking him where his keys are

coldwarenigma · 14/06/2021 21:20

Benji parmesan?

Jaymar · 14/06/2021 21:22

Brought instead of bought 😑 Not sure if it’s a regional thing but I see it on here a lot.

Lulola · 14/06/2021 21:23

I get annoyed by a relative that writes “dident” and “nextd”
