I struggle to get past 12,000
I'm on 8,000
But that's because I've walked 1 mile today to work.
What's your count ?

Mine is currently 1100. Rarely get above 3000 currently due to mobility issues!

Vetyveriohohoh · 14/06/2021 13:19

Average of about 5,000. Have a desk based job so some days even that’s a struggle. Weekends usually 8-9000

Finfintytint · 14/06/2021 13:22

10,000. Lots of walking about at work. Need to do more on rest days though but I do swim.

Handoverthechocollate · 14/06/2021 13:22

9,500 but I've had a good walk this morning. I aim for 8000 which is quite difficult!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 14/06/2021 13:23

About 3 today HmmGrin

TakeYourFinalPosition · 14/06/2021 13:26

If I don't actively make an effort, about 3,000... but I aim for at least 10,000. I've been doing 15,000 a day since mid April... it feels like I'm always walking and I ache a bit, and I haven't lost any weight, but I am 13 weeks pregnant.

I find it far too easy to sit at my desk all day!

that's good! On normal fairly active days 6-8k. go for a run at least twice a week so considerably more on those days. When I had a desk based job it was really hard. I'm now looking to return to a desk based job and really quite worried about it.
pooiepooie25 · 14/06/2021 13:28

I aim for 10,000. On work days (part-time teacher), I reckon I do about 15,000. On a Saturday, I tutor all day online and barely move!

MsRinky · 14/06/2021 13:28

12k plus, but that involves an average distance of 7 miles. The average number of steps per mile for an adult is about 2k, so not sure how your mile to work is getting you to 8 thousand...

reallybreexy · 14/06/2021 13:32

@MsRinky I've walked to and from the shopping centre (I'm guessing about a mile )
Then looking around the shops/put bin out /washing up etc
So that's built my steps up

I walk at least 10,000 per day. Sometimes I only just scrape it, other days I'm well over.

ExplodingCarrots · 14/06/2021 13:54

I do 20000 weekdays and aim for 10k on the weekend. This has gradually built up over months. I go for a long walk after morning school run . Also walk on afternoon school run. The rest of the steps are pottering about the house and doing workouts . Not driving to school has made a huge difference. I'm trying to lose weight and have lost 20lbs so far.

theneverendinglaundry · 14/06/2021 13:55

Usually between 13-15k, but on particularly busy days I have clocked 20k! I don't have a car so walk EVERYWHERE.

reallybreexy · 14/06/2021 14:07

@ExplodingCarrots oh wow !!well done !!
You have inspired me
I want to loose a stone if possible

2,000 daily.. but I have Cerebral Palsy!

Imapotato · 14/06/2021 14:14

Last week (a fairly average week) my highest was 18k and my lowest 5k.

It averages out at around 10k across the whole week.

fantastaballs · 14/06/2021 14:17

3-6k a day but I have RA and need a replacement. Went out at the weekend with the kids and did 12k and boy am I paying for it with pain and swelling.

Peacelillyhippy · 14/06/2021 14:17

About 3000-4000 on a average work day, including commute. Then up to or slightly over 10,000 because of dog walking by the evening.

I really struggled to get over 7000 a day before the dog. I could never find the time to walk. Now i can go up to mid-20 k at the weekends! (But have little time to do anything else!)

AlternativePerspective · 14/06/2021 14:19

So far today I’ve done 5843 steps which is 5.44km.

I am in heart failure but I attempt to do At least 10k steps a day.

When we were in lockdown and I was shielding I wandered around my house to bring up my step count.

AlternativePerspective · 14/06/2021 14:20

Sorry that should have been 7843.

Yellowbrickrobe · 14/06/2021 14:21

I aim for about 12500 a day which is five miles for me. If I haven’t got enough I walk up and down my living room to get my steps in.

emmathedilemma · 14/06/2021 14:27

I tend to go off my 7 day average and aim for that to be over 10k as I do other things such as weights, swimming, spin etc that don't clock up steps but are still worthwhile exercise. My current 7 day average is just over 12k, plus a couple of swims, a bit of cycling and a gym session.
To hit 10k on a work day (desk based) i need to go for a walk at lunchtime and do some form of "step counting" exercise in the evening. i don't bother with the wandering round the house thing, I'll happily to go to bed with it on 9700!

reallybreexy · 14/06/2021 15:07

Well done everyone
I've started doing a fitness program and they telling me 15,000 is easy but I don't think it is

I WFH and have a desk job. Unless I go for a run, I struggle to get to 7000 and that's including going for a walk in the evening. I would much rather be more active but i just don't go anywhere!

ExplodingCarrots · 14/06/2021 15:49

It's really not easy. On the weekend days I'm trying to reach 10k it can be hard going because I don't have the school run walks. It takes me an hour and a half to hit just over 10k steps.
