Do you let your kids wee in the garden...?

If your children are playing out in the garden and need a wee.... do you let them wee in the garden or insist they go indoors to the toilet?

I let my 4 year old do this, although he doesn't want to anymore. My dogs wee all over the grass anyway!

justanotherneighinparadise · 13/06/2021 20:18

Occasionally

AwFeebs · 13/06/2021 20:19

Nope. No need. I understand if children are caught short etc but not when they are steps away from a toilet.

Even if you agreed for this to be ok in your own garden, this is somehow going to MASSIVELY backfire. And you better pray its hubby on child duty that day and you are extremely far away

SamMil · 13/06/2021 20:21

I did when we were potty training as there wasn't usually much warning and we have a large garden.

I wouldn't have if it was smaller or if we were overlooked!

copperpotsalot · 13/06/2021 20:22

I don't have a garden but my best friend does and mine and her kids always weed out there. She and I have been known to on a couple of occasions too Blush

PurpleMustang · 13/06/2021 20:22

Can we run a list of guesses, I'll start
Grandma's prize winning WI begonias or in a garden centre or a shopping centre with fake planters......

Thisusedtobeaniceneighbourhood · 13/06/2021 20:23

Yeah our boys wee in the garden loads. I don’t feel that it’s yucky, it’s a huge garden and plenty of animals do their business in it. In fact, children weeing helps keep some of the other animal toileting away.

My 7yo doesn’t do it so much now, generally would prefer to go inside, and would definitely not wee outside if we have guests. My 5yo is still a big fan of a ‘jungle wee’

Calmyertits · 13/06/2021 20:25

My 7yo was in the pool in our garden and asked if he could pee down the drain and i didnt see an issue with it, saves him traipsing water all through the house!

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 13/06/2021 20:25

Did you see my 3 year old earlier?! She was naked and wet from the paddling pool and I was soooooo comfortable in the shade! 😂

IsThePopeCatholic · 13/06/2021 20:26

Of course. Urine is great for plants.

Allthegranola · 13/06/2021 20:26

Ew no. It's fine if they are caught short in the middle of nowhere, but not when there is a toilet right there in the house!

Dementedswan · 13/06/2021 20:26

No, toilet... unless they are desperate and dh is having one of his epic shits Hmm so emergencies only.

TheVolturi · 13/06/2021 20:27

Erm no, that sounds really scruffy to be honest, just go to the loo!

EvilPea · 13/06/2021 20:28

Grim really grim.

WhyDoesItAlways · 13/06/2021 20:28

I let DS go in the hedge when he is wet from the paddling pool. We have a large garden which is not overlooked.

But today he got out the paddling pool and took a poop in the hedge so I see now that's it's a slippery slope and while I don't mind wee we're going to have to put a stop to it!

Oneliner · 13/06/2021 20:29

Saves water, great for the environment.

Ickythefirebobby · 13/06/2021 20:30

@HotGlueGun

So the child in question is 6, almost 7 and male
Absolutely not. This just encourages males to think they take can have a wee anywhere. We saw a man having a wee outside Tesco the other day, just at the side of the road like it was the most normal thing. It’s disgusting. Start them off young knowing it’s not on.

That’s so disgusting. He’s not an animal and you shouldn’t let him behave like one.
SleepingStandingUp · 13/06/2021 20:34

If they had time then inside, if desperate and unlikely to make it or soaking wet, I'd let them do it outside

User0ne · 13/06/2021 20:35

Our garden is down the lane from our house and I've taught both of my kids to wee either on the compost heap or on the nettle patch.

No neighbours to see but there is a public footpath over the river.

Suzi888 · 13/06/2021 20:37

In the garden, in the OUTSIDE toilet! Otherwise inside or get a little camping loo!

jsp5642 · 13/06/2021 20:38

Ideally, I think not. But from practical experience with small boys, I think it can take time to get the message to sink in. Especially if the child is having toilet training or continence issues. These can be hard to spot until quite an advanced age.

ChittyChittyBoomBoom · 13/06/2021 20:39

Nope, inside. Nature wees are for emergencies only!

FleetwoodRaincoat · 13/06/2021 20:40

No way. But they are 25 and 18 Grin
