Celebrities you should love, but don't!

So. I was listening to Zoe Ball this morning and Joe Wicks came on which got me thinking...

He's a really nice bloke. But I really don't like him! So unmanly and squeaky of voice!

Same with Michael Ball. Annoying grin and smugness!

This is totally lighthearted by the way, but are there any celebs that are totally lovely, but you can't stand them? And why?

Alex Beresford
Amanda Holden
Alex .......can't remember his surname, smarmy little git who's just been given his own show

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 12/06/2021 00:33

@Boood

Sara Pascoe. I feel I should be supportive of any female comedian who says she’s a feminist, but actually I find her whiny and self-obsessed and I felt really sorry for the boyfriend she wheeled out and was all “look here’s my boyfriend, did I mention I’ve got a boyfriend” and whom she then promptly dumped.
I'm mixed on Sara Pascoe, I find her quite funny off the cuff on panel shows or chat shows but find her stand up very heavy going even though it's obviously well thought out, intelligent stuff. John Robins (the boyfriend she dumped), on the other hand is absolutely dire on any kind of panel type show, you can see on his face that he's thinking of the funny thing about 3 minutes after the moment has passed. His stand up is fantastic though, full of bitterness and self-loathing and totally reduced me to tears of laughter when I saw him live.

@InkKeepsRunning

I didn’t like Joe Wicks but then I heard his episode of Desert Island Discs and heard him in a whole new way. It was totally heartbreaking - he grew up with a drug addict father and a mother with OCD. I don’t begrudge him his cheery adult persona any more.
Yes yes !!

Have listened to this one over and over 🙌

Kapalika · 12/06/2021 00:36

Maya Jama and Laura whitmore.

asprinklingofsugar · 12/06/2021 00:40

@WithANameLikeDaniCalifornia I know but I wasn’t convinced even before the story came out. I had friends who loved her but I just never got why? Like what does she even do all day? Try and shill cookbooks and talk about parenting whilst having staff (including a maid and a nanny) and her mother who seemed to do most of the cooking living with her. I’m not trying to be a bitch but it’s genuinely something that perplexed me, given she didn’t seem to do much cooking at home, and had help looking after her (admittedly much wanted) children. I followed her for a little while as I was curious but her whole online persona seemed fake and too try-hard and carefully curated for me. Just because she has cute kids, a husband who writes romantic songs about her, is a foodie and posted some funny tweets sometimes doesn’t mean she’s actually “super relatable” or lovely, as has now been proven. And yes those are things I heard people say about her

Wincarnis · 12/06/2021 00:40

James Corden because he isn’t funny
Dawn French because she isn’t funny
Lenny Henry because he isn’t funny
Ant & Dec because they aren’t funny
I could go on, but….

Moonwatcher1234 · 12/06/2021 00:43

Whoever said Michael sheen...yes! I caught a clip of him performing do not go gently into that good night and bleugh...it was the earnest “I’m acting...watch how good I am” face that was unbearably irritating.

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 12/06/2021 00:44

Alex Jones, her Welsh accent grates on me (sorry any Welsh Mumsnetters! blush)

I’m Welsh and she gets right on my tits. Ditto Katherine Jenkins

Zotter · 12/06/2021 00:46

@LubaLuca

Victoria Coren-Mitchell. She's one of a rare breed of unaffected people on TV, but I don't think she's a good host and she's nowhere near as funny as she's been led to believe.
I don’t mind her but loathe her brother.
ChiefClerkDrumknott · 12/06/2021 00:48

Same with Michael Sheen. I used to think he was underrated and lovely.
I still think he’s great in the right role (recently Aziraphale) but he’s disappeared up his own arse

Goldieloxx · 12/06/2021 00:48

Mary Berry

ClairKingston · 12/06/2021 00:50

Keith Lemon

The novelty stupidity and the voice, well they wore off a very long time ago.

PyongyangKipperbang · 12/06/2021 00:51

Kylie, she just grates on my nerves for no reason that I can put my finger on!

Tiramiwho · 12/06/2021 00:53

David Walliams, Kate Garraway, Jonathan Ross, Ant & Dec, Paddy McGuiness, The Dr Michael fasting-diet-guy, Sarah Pascoe, The American/Canadian one who is on EVERYTHING..Kathryn something?.., Grace Dent, James Corden, Michelle Heaton, Jamie Rednap, Stacey Solomon, Janet Street Porter...

TomBradysLeftKneecap · 12/06/2021 00:55

This thread makes me realize how long I've lived in the US for. I've read it with absolutely no clue who half the people you're talking about are, and wondering why, if we're talking James Corden, no-one is mentioning Jimmy Fallon! Blush

Prongate · 12/06/2021 01:07

Stacey Dooley and Ferne Cotton - both seems so empty and boring to me. The wrong people to be discussing serious topics as seem pretty shallow and neither of them have much talent.

Laura Whitmore - don't like her - get bad vibes for some reason.

asprinklingofsugar · 12/06/2021 01:15

Oh yes, Jonathan Ross, ant and dec, and stacey Dooley also irritate me

IDontDrinkTea · 12/06/2021 01:30

I find it irritating the amount of people that praised Joe Wicks for working “so hard” during the pandemic… he did a half an hour live stream each day and earned so much money and publicity from it that be nabbed himself a new multi million pound mansion. I made the mistake of following him on Instagram for a while and he does nothing but binge eat (like six slices of marmalade on toast, biting cheese from the block, plus tonnes of chocolate), which grates if you’ve paid for his plan, if even he can’t follow it himself. He also constantly posts about how wonderful his eldest child is and moans about the youngest, and I don’t like the constant favouritism.

CustardySergeant · 12/06/2021 01:39

Brian Cox has always reminded me of a ventriloquist's dummy. I keep expecting him to say "gottle of geer".

MrsW150917 · 12/06/2021 01:45

Holly Willoughby - she loves herself far too much! And that stupid dance she does every morning to the Spin the Wheel game makes me cringe!!
Phillips Schofield - he's just as annoying!
Alison Hammond - don't find her funny in the slightest. Just gobby!

MrsW150917 · 12/06/2021 01:46

David Walliams - another person I do not find funny in the slightest and makes BGT the David Walliams show. So cringey

MrsW150917 · 12/06/2021 01:47

Oh and Matt Watson the YouTube car reviewer for car wow. Annoying!!

Bloodypunkrockers · 12/06/2021 01:53
@Bloodypunkrockers thank you darling! Doom-mongering thread police 🤣
It's pathetic. Posters like that always ruin threads

Backtoblack1 · 12/06/2021 01:53

Cliff Richard
Andy peters
Richard Ayoade
Noel Fielding.

Urgh!

Bloodypunkrockers · 12/06/2021 01:56

@notacooldad

Who died and made you thread police Let the OP have her say without your moderation Absolutely no one made me the thread police but when you hear of someone being refered to as a cunt and 'Wtf is going on with her mouth' it' beyond light-hearted as the Op said it was going to be and has become quite nasty.
Frankly, you need to take a step back
