Celebrities you should love, but don't!

So. I was listening to Zoe Ball this morning and Joe Wicks came on which got me thinking...

He's a really nice bloke. But I really don't like him! So unmanly and squeaky of voice!

Same with Michael Ball. Annoying grin and smugness!

This is totally lighthearted by the way, but are there any celebs that are totally lovely, but you can't stand them? And why?

cliffdiver · 11/06/2021 18:33

I feel awful about this one.

Katie Piper.

paradisaea · 11/06/2021 18:36

Frodo Baggins is a whiny twat.

dotty12345 · 11/06/2021 18:37

I have to mute Andi Peters, don't know why he irritates me so much but my god he does.

HeronLanyon · 11/06/2021 18:44

Want to preface by saying there is so much to love about the following wonderful people but I just have never ever warmed to them in the slightest.
Deep breath.
Julie Walters
Dawn French.
Joanna Lumley after seeing her speak at a planning meeting Re the Garden Bridge.
Justin Bieber and many others - honestly just look like standard ‘lads’/men - facially I mean. Under all the wealth and clothes and hair. Really normal looking it himself. Surely.

wincarwoo · 11/06/2021 18:57

@LubaLuca

Victoria Coren-Mitchell. She's one of a rare breed of unaffected people on TV, but I don't think she's a good host and she's nowhere near as funny as she's been led to believe.
I'm pretty sure that she knows she's not funny and everyone cringes. It's all part of the schtick. (I may be wrong 😄)
FleetwoodRaincoat · 11/06/2021 18:58

Alex Jones
Carol Kirkwood
The gardening woman with the strong northern accent
Stacey Dooley
Paddy McGuiness
Sara Pascoe
The long-haired Coast presenter
Pru Leith
Comedian with giant teeth

Maybe I should stop now ... Or stop watching telly

runoutofgoodusernames · 11/06/2021 18:58

Oh yes, just remembered I don't like Joanna Lumley either! Love Julie Walters though 😍

Yes my theory is that Dermot O Leary must have some serious dirt on someone. Either that, or he has shagged lots of people to get where he is. So bloody dull. And the cringey dad dancing! 🤮

OP posts:
HeronLanyon · 11/06/2021 18:59

I do not like Pru Leith very much at all !! (Sure she’s lovely just doesn’t appeal at all).

Cottonheadedninymuggins · 11/06/2021 19:00

John Barrowman makes my skin crawl - always has done. I didn't watch Maria but I did see clips of him literally GRABBING all the contestants and dragging them into him and forcibly kissing them as 'acting' and they all looked uncomfortable as hell.

He's far too full of his own importance.

Also can't stand:

(not a celebrity but) Giles from Gogglebox.
Phil Schofield - lots of secrets he tried to hide, not a nice man
Holly Willoughby - linked by the above.
Miriam Margolyes - All I see is rude and uncouth. I'm not a prude or stuck up by any accounts but she takes it to the extremes and pushes it further.
Paddy McGuiness - fake laddish nonsense and apparently not that nice.
Victoria Coren Mitchell - The smugness that exudes at the start of Only Connect is painful whilst trying to be contrary and different - it just comes across as a fake attempt at trying to be the 'geeks' pin up girl - ala Carol Vorderman.
Carol Vorderman - what has she done to herself? I feel for her but something is very wrong, poor love.
Sara Pascoe - I agree with someone else above about how she comes across. I felt for John (thank god he's moved on with Coco and gotten engaged now!) His explanation of their last Christmas was painful!
Naga Munchetti - Very self important. Her appearance on Saturday Kitchen recently was painful.
Tess 'Dead Behind The Eyes' Daly.
Andi Peters - I love the QVC Christmas stuff but his food fest are essentially hours for him to show off and make everything all about him and not the products. He's unbearable. Good luck to him, he managed to make himself a huge businessman and he looks incredible (he hasn't changed from the broom cupboard!) but I can't warm to him at all.
Keith Lemon - makes my skin crawl.
Josh Widdecombe - I don't know what it is but there's something that puts me on edge about him. It's not 'Salty Josh' (the podcast he does with Rob talks about this) there's just.... something.
Iain Stirling - His taskmaster series essentially was 'LOOK AT ME! I WILL WIN AND BE THE BEST!!!' yelled over everyone else.(spoiler: he doesn't)
Grace Dent - I only know of her from her BBC4 specials which should be good - especially the Christmas ones - but I honestly don't think it's possible for that woman to speak without physically moving her hands for every syllable. It's very distracting and very annoying.
Kay Burley - 'nuff said.
Rochelle Humes - horrific presenter - not even chemistry with her own husband.
Martin Freeman - not as nice as he likes to pretend he is.
Amanda Abbington - very loud and irritating.
Milton Jones - I don't know what it is, I just can't stand him. I have to FFwd him on MTW.

BrilliantBetty · 11/06/2021 19:00

Jameela Jamil.

osbertthesyrianhamster · 11/06/2021 19:01

James Corden
Anyone who is a celeb via nepotism.

Cottonheadedninymuggins · 11/06/2021 19:03

Kevin Clifton - I knew him in RL from being teens as my best friend at Junior/senior school did dance competitions and his parents obv have a dance school.

INCREDIBLY pleased with himself, always thought he was the best at everything, thought he should be the winner , threw tantrums at certain shows when he didn't place.

From what local gossip from the dance community says he wasn't that nice to his ex wives either (don't know about the last one who was on SCD with him, I don't really see the friend anymore other than the odd chat online as she's moved to the other end of the country)

Not a fan of Stacey Dooley either, but that's more the voice and the fawning interviewing mode.

UrgentExitRequiredLOD · 11/06/2021 19:04

Cannot stand Joe Swash (and pretty much everyone listed above).

LubaLuca · 11/06/2021 19:21

Yy to David Attenborough. I rarely say it in real life because people think I'm trying to wind them up. I'd much rather watch someone with new, fresh ideas. I always found his brother to be far more charming and engaging.

highlandcoo · 11/06/2021 20:00

@StopPokingTheRoyalTitDear

Peter Andre. I can’t stand him but I can’t quite put my finger on why? He’s apparently a really nice person and I’ve never heard of any diva behaviour.

Can’t stand Ed Sheeran either but I hate his music too so I feel vindicated with that one.

I think Peter Andre is very fake. There was a split second on Strictly when he didn't realise the camera was on him and was scowling bad-temperedly at one of the team, then as soon as he realised he was being filmed he plastered on this big cheesy smile. Tries to be appealing but it's all an act IMO.
SeigneurLapindeGrantham · 11/06/2021 20:09

Jo Whiley as she was rude to George Michael in an interview once upon a time and he was far too gracious to respond.
Phil Schofield
Naga Munchetty just spiteful

Mogloveseggs · 11/06/2021 20:12

Keeley Hawes. Until LOD.
Holly and Phillip

Lampzade · 11/06/2021 20:15

@Sudename

James Cordon David Walliams
Can’t bear these two
Violetparis · 11/06/2021 20:42

Adam Hills from The Last Leg, I agree with a lot of his views but find him so smug, and condescending.
Another vote for Caitlin Moran, shallow and cringey.

runoutofgoodusernames · 11/06/2021 20:54

@Cottonheadedninymuggins

You are spot on with all of them, so many I had forgotten about!

Paddy McGuiness!
Tess Daly!
Phillip Schofield!
Carol Voderman!

Just realised why I don't watch much telly. I don't actually like anyone. At all. 🤣

ChunkyKitKat123 · 11/06/2021 21:09

Holly Willoughby - smug and irritating.

Jimmy Carr - gives me the creeps and his laugh is so put on. I have to switch over when he's on.

Stacey Dooley - everything she says just sounds trite, even if it wouldn't be if coming from someone else.

Amy Schumer
Lena Dunham
I feel like I should like them because they're meant to be feminist but their personas seem to be centred entirely on a "look how wild and quirky I am" affectation.

runoutofgoodusernames · 11/06/2021 21:11

Jimmy Carr 🤮🤮🤮

notacooldad · 11/06/2021 21:12

My phone keeps telling me about Kate garraway, no idea what hellish algorithm I have bocome entangled with. At least it's stopped with the van Halen
I am getting the same news!

Colouringaddict · 11/06/2021 21:12

Phillip Schofield
Holly Willoughby
Katherine Jenkins
Paddy McGuiness
Cliff Richard

Spied · 11/06/2021 21:21

I came on to say John Barrowman. I get sinister vibes from him. I get similar vibes from Michael Barrymore ( even before his fall from grace)
Would be terrified if I was left alone with either of them.
