Celebrities you should love, but don't!

So. I was listening to Zoe Ball this morning and Joe Wicks came on which got me thinking...

He's a really nice bloke. But I really don't like him! So unmanly and squeaky of voice!

Same with Michael Ball. Annoying grin and smugness!

This is totally lighthearted by the way, but are there any celebs that are totally lovely, but you can't stand them? And why?

OP posts:
APJ1 · 12/06/2021 11:33

Beyonce was my first thought.

Whyhello · 12/06/2021 11:37

Holly Willoughby is actually a twat IRL. If you read any thread on here about celebs people have met, pretty much everyone says she’s rude. My friend works on the celebrity juice set and says she’s horrible, Fearne is lovely though.

I don’t like Joe Wicks and I don’t like Ant and Dec, particularly Ant after his recent antics. I can’t stand James Cordon.

Whyhello · 12/06/2021 11:38

I went off both Beyoncé and Jay Z when I read about their elephant skin shoes and the fact they’d paid over a million dollars for a gold crib for their baby. Idiots.

Whyhello · 12/06/2021 11:42

Why do people dislike James Corden so much? I think the majority don't like him cos he's a big bloke

Really not about his size at all. More the fact he’s moved to America and adopted a pathetic fake American accent. He also seems to be everywhere and I don’t get why, he isn’t funny and he isn’t remotely charismatic.

Plenty of ‘big blokes’ are popular as well as big women.

LittleMissPeggySue · 12/06/2021 11:53

Stacey Dooley, I really want to like her as us redheads should stick together but she gets on my nerves.

Also Ryan Reynolds for no other reason than I associate him with memories of my former best friend who behaved like an absolute c*nt towards me a few years ago. I can't see RR face without it bringing back a whole load of hurt and upset.

Moonwatcher1234 · 12/06/2021 12:10

Can I add all celebrities who become all I’m the first person to have a baby ever. Then release books and constant updates because nobody has ever had or raised a child before them...then expect our undying gratitude for bestowing their pearls of wisdom on us. I mean myleene klass, holly willougby, Kate wright, binky from made in Chelsea, Millie mckintosh etc etc etc ad infinitum. Feel better now I got that off my chest haha

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/06/2021 14:01

Luckily I don't watch Phil'n'Holly but I've seen enough clips to tell me I don't want to .

Usually when they're doing some cookery with Gino , she'll say some faux "oh was that a bit rude" then dissolve into squeaky schreechy high pitched tittering .

Like Gino will give her a sample of food and she's all "Oh I can't get all this sausage in my mouth"
Cue Phil falling about laughing ( FYI , Fern did it first , funnier )
Holly is alll "What ? What's so funny ?......"
Then practically spitting out her food as she twigs the implication (that she's trying to be all coy but yeah , we get it . Gino/Meat/Your gob Ha Hmm )

Grow the Fuck Up , you're not 12 .

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/06/2021 14:04

Johnny Vegas is head and shoulders above James Corden

MumofSpud · 12/06/2021 14:08

Fab Question!
I can't stand:

Ant and Dec (but will tolerate them on I'm a Celeb and BGT) on their Saturday Night show
Holly Willoughby
Gino D'Campo
Alex Peters

There must be more - although looking at this list, it seems to be all the chirpy ones! This says more about me!

TSSDNCOP · 12/06/2021 14:13

Liza Tarbuck

enigmatoto · 12/06/2021 14:14

Many have already been mentioned by pp, so in addition to those, I'll add:

Denise Van Outen - I don't know what it is, but just can't stand her
Ulrika Johnson
Aled Jones AND Katherine Jenkins - they appear to be trying too hard to portray a 'holier than thou' persona.
Natalie Casey - ever since she was in 'Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps', and in her voice overs... i think it's her voice that grates and he seeming 'overacting'.

oldperson1 · 12/06/2021 14:19

It’s funny how the same names that are cropping up on this thread, are mainly celebrities that are just a little bit too pleased with themselves, and that’s the reason posters just cannot take too them.
I like Bradley Walsh love Anna Maxwell Martin and couldn’t care less about James Corden’s size it’s just the way comes across.
The reason I can’t take to Laura Kuinssberg ( is that right) is she always seems to have an agenda whenever she interviews anyone especially the government , it’s more don’t care what your going to tell me I’m going to find fault and try and get you to say something you’ll be sorry for later.
The same goes for Kate Burley Naga Munchetti Charlie Staat and the other women on Sky who was suspended with Kate Burley Beth someone or the other.
I’m adding Olivia Coleman to my list stick to acting girl and stop telling us what we all should be doing in your eyes to save the world.

CandidaAlbicans2 · 12/06/2021 14:22

Nicole Shirtswinger?
AKA Nicole Shitslinger

Let's remember though everyone - lovely people that you don't like! Not absolute twats that everyone already hates!

OK, here goes
Richard Osman - I just don’t get why he’s so popular. He looks odd, and he and Zander are so awkward on Pointless it makes me cringe.

Carol Kline (TV gardener) - I want to love her because she’s a successful older woman (which I massively admire about her) and I love gardening, but she’s just too cheery and enthusiastic that she grates on me.

But the one which I feel is even worse than saying David Attenborough is…[sticks head above parapet]...
Captain Tom (sorry). If he hadn't ticked a few boxes (war veteran, old person, public desperate for a good news story, NHS) plus having a PR savvy daughter, the media wouldn't have latched on and he consequently wouldn't have raised all that for the NHS. He would just have been an old man walking around his garden as part of his physio regime. And because he (or rather the media saturation of him) raised all that for NHS charities he was branded a hero and knighted. So OTT. So he may be the nicest person on the planet but I got totally sick of it and him.
[ducks and hides]

LovelaceBiggWither · 12/06/2021 14:29

My ASD son was passionate about Ainsley Harriot and when he came over here to do a wine and food show, Ainsley's PR organised for him to meet my son.

Ainsley was soft spoken and the complete opposite of his TV self. He spent time with my son and gave him a very expensive Japanese knife as a souvenir. He was just lovely (and I say this as someone who had to endure Ainsley on permanent loop on DVD for months, I was not prepared for the man in real life).

@Whyhello someone I know used to work on the planes. He said once she kicked up a right tantrum because the car that had been sent to pick her up wasn't good enough for her. She refused to get in it.

She sounds like a right brat.
Can't stand her and her silly screechy laugh!

I share the same birthday as her Feb 10th. and she made the whole morning show all about her birthday literally after every ad break the audience had to be reminded "it's Hollys birthday today" Phil is so far up her arse it's cringey.
It shouldn't be called This morning, they should rename it the Holly & Phill show because that's pretty much what it is

@Rebornagain

Why do people dislike James Corden so much?

I think the majority don't like him cos he's a big bloke

Nothing to do with his size. I think he is a really good actor. I saw him in The History Boys at the National Theatre and in One Man, Two Guvnors and he was great in both.

In real life he is way too pleased with himself and has been ever since the success of Gavin & Stacey. Also, he conducted the Friends Reunion in the same fake accent that Smithy used in the Christmas episode when he was with his new girlfriend

Sparklingbrook · 12/06/2021 18:32

I don't get the 'way too pleased with himself in RL' vibe from JC at all. Not that I know him in RL.

I never really watched G&S but it was very popular, loved Carpool Karaoke.
But I was upset when Chris Moyles left Radio One and people thought he was smug so maybe my radar is broken.

HoneyzAiy · 12/06/2021 19:15

I work at a UK based film studio (in the offices). I meet a lot of celebs and most are quite different to how they appear on tv. I’ve met quite a few of those mentioned in this thread in real life.

James Cordon - awful to those he perceives as ‘beneath him’. Sucks up to other celebs but can be rude and a diva with staff. Not a nice person.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z. - both very lovely and polite. Kept to themselves and weren’t overly chatty, but definitely weren’t rude when approached.

Ainsley Harriott - lovely, lovely guy and a lot quieter and more softly spoken in real life than he appears on tv.

Nicholas Lyndhurst - very nice and down to earth. Ate lunch in the work cafe every day rather than the posh fancy one. Greeted everyone.

Holly Willoughby - awful. Had to liaise with her pa several times during a shoot. She was rude on several occasions and very much up her own arse!

Phillip Schofield - he really irritates me on tv but was actually lovely the few times I met him. Very polite and pretty much just got on with the job, no fuss.

Daniel Craig - polite but quiet and reserved. On set he does his scenes and keeps himself to himself. Never rude to anyone though.

Ann Robinson - despite her character on The Weakest Link, she was always lovely with our office staff. She used to regularly stop by between filming and have a chat. Very nice lady.

To be honest, the A-list celebs tend to be the nicer ones. The worst are usually the reality tv ones. Very arrogant and seem to think they can get away with treating people like shit. We had to do a shoot with the TOWIE lot a few years back and, apart from one of two, they were awful. Had huge lists of demands.

Sparklingbrook · 12/06/2021 19:21

He seems lovely, and very private. Heartbreaking what happened to his son, that must have been so very difficult.

augustusglupe · 12/06/2021 19:29

Glad Ainsley is nice, I imagined he would be.

I don't like Mary Berry.

HeronLanyon · 12/06/2021 19:31

I laughed as yesterday I said I had never liked pru leith. Today - arise Dame Pru.
Grin

Yes it’s awful. I can’t even imagine how painful that must have been for him and his wife, who is also lovely. Actually saw their son a few times, when he came in for lunch with his dad. It’s an absolutely tragedy, he was a lovely lad
RevolvingPivot · 12/06/2021 20:29

Her who presents love island and her boyfriend who narrates it

TheVolturi · 12/06/2021 20:46

Holly and Phil. Holly when she does that stupid fucking dance thing when they are ringing the person for the spin the wheel thing 🙄. Phil loves himself so much.

James Corden, just how the actual hell is he popular in USA? What do they see in him?

Amanda Holden is another that is too full of herself and I have not forgotten she cheated on poor Les Dennis 🤣🤣

TheVolturi · 12/06/2021 20:47

Omg and YES to Michael Ball! He bugs me so much!
