In an ideal world what would you eat?

I mean if you weren't on a diet/have allergies/live somewhere where you are pining for certain foods you cannot get.

I was musing about this on the way to work. I needed a drink as I had left mine behind so went into Greggs. Big mistake. Came out with a vegan sausage roll. I am supposed to be cutting down for God's sake!

In an ideal world my life would be pull of pastry covered products and I would have my fill of crisps, chips and chocolate. I would also eat more exotic fruit (diabetic so in reality ain't going to happen). I would also go mad for mashed potatoes and yorkie puds plus victoria sponge. Yum!

What would be your foods of choice?

Proper chips, a pie with puff pastry peas and gravy and the cheapest tomato sauce I could buy

MrPanks · 11/06/2021 11:55

I'd live on biscuits and roast potatoes.

Buggerthebotox · 11/06/2021 12:01

Another vote for proper homemade chips with egg and sausage. Or homemade mash with loads of butter. Fresh doorstep with loads of butter and cheese. Beef roast with Yorkshire and horseradish. Mahoosive pie and chips.

Smarshian · 11/06/2021 12:05

Doughnuts, ice cream, chocolate, buffalo hot wings with blue cheese sauce.

idontlikealdi · 11/06/2021 12:06

bread, cheese and charcuterie. I don't have a sweet tooth but I very easily make up for it with everything else!

FizzyPink · 11/06/2021 12:06

Thai food every day. Lovely noodles with lots of peanuts on top.
Failing that bao buns, gyozas and dumplings.

Or just a loaf of fresh tiger bread with loads and loads of butter

SmellThis · 11/06/2021 12:07

Ha! I think I could happily house share with all of you 😆

zafferana · 11/06/2021 12:08

I'd eat chocolate cake every day - I love it!

lljkk · 11/06/2021 12:08

Am addicted to tea. FF milk & cream.

Mangos, cheese, potatoes, brocccoli, lots of veg soups & stews, sausages, humus, Nutella, lots of salad veg, occasional fruit cake.

BarbaraofSeville · 11/06/2021 12:08

Asian food. Lots of noodles, little nibbly dumpling things, seafood, bit spicy, but not too much, coriander all over everything. Indian vegetarian street food, Vada pav, paneer, samosas, dhal, skewers with marinaded veg and lots of sauces.

Heaven would be to have lots of little cafes serving this stuff on my doorstep and being able to afford to go there every day. Instead it's a bus/car ride away and obviously cost and time means that it only happens maybe once or twice a week.

Arbadacarba · 11/06/2021 12:10

Some of the things I eat now, such as home-made curry, I'd carry on with.

But I'd have naan bread with it!

I'd also eat loads of bread and have cake for pudding. I'd have a Domino's pizza once a month (more often and it wouldn't be such a treat).

Roast potatoes would feature heavily in my diet.

MrsCrosbyNRTB · 11/06/2021 12:13

Carbs carbs and more carbs
Cheese
Crusty bread and butter
My MIL’s samosas and chutney which are easily 40000000 calories each and AMAZING
Crisps
Nuts
Icecream

That should do it!! Grin

YouLookSoCool · 11/06/2021 12:17

I could very easily live on chicken cooked in a variety of ways, and chocolate.

minipie · 11/06/2021 12:19

hmmm… In a world with no limits or consequences I’d definitely eat a lot more biscuits. And deep fried food. Fresh white bread with butter. Ice cream every day in the heat.

Summer fruit … always a bit hit and miss in the UK. In a perfect world these fruits would be luscious every time.

Seafood and sushi… too expensive in RL to have it as often as I’d like. I could live off crab claws and tuna sashimi for a long time.

Everyday21 · 11/06/2021 12:24

Pasta, bread and cheese. And some thai food to

roguetomato · 11/06/2021 12:24

Sushi every day.

Scotlandiscold · 11/06/2021 12:26

Why aren't you all eating the things you want?
HAVE THE BREAD! We don't exist to be on diets and lose weight.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 11/06/2021 12:27

everything I want without negative consequences

Arbadacarba · 11/06/2021 12:30

@Scotlandiscold

Because I hate being overweight. The constant physical discomfort of being fat is not worth the fleeting pleasure of eating the things that make me thus.
Dozer · 11/06/2021 12:30

You mean if ‘all foods were equal’ and health considerations / calories / feeling well etc were not factors?

Not sure, probably just whatever felt like and encountered out and about on each day! A LOT of bread, butter and cheese.

If money was no object would love a personal family chef!

Chunkymenrock · 11/06/2021 12:34

Pasta, butter, cheese, cake, biscuits, crisps, fudge.

BeastOfBODMAS · 11/06/2021 12:36

In my ideal world there would be big bags of vegan frozen Yorkshire puddings in the supermarkets and they would be identical to the non vegan versions I distantly remember.

Roast potatoes would not end up potato sized, just a massive pan of gribbets.

The chippie in my old town that did battered vegan sausage and deep fried Oreos can please relocate to the seafront near me.

I can then ignore all of that and have peanut butter toast for every meal.

Ninkanink · 11/06/2021 12:37

I love all foods (pretty much) and I have a lot of favourites...

But my top 5 would probably be:

Pizza. Definitely pizza. I’d have it every day if I could.
Bread (lots and lots of crusty, wonderful homemade bread like my DH makes...) with salami, cheeses, etc, and wine of course!
Rice - love it but I routinely low carb for health reasons and now find it’s quite hard on my stomach.
Chocolate in great quantities.

Hmmmm, what else...

Cakes, I guess. That reminds me, I need to make an apple cake today!

AlfonsoTheMango · 11/06/2021 12:38

Pasta, pizza, potatoes, sushi, smoked salmon and cream cheese on a bagel, biscuits, donuts, cakes, nuts, dried fruit, prime rib, moussaka, gyros, taco salads, all sorts of breads, felafel and hummous in a wrap with lots of pickles...

That's just for starters.

peachescariad · 11/06/2021 12:39

Prawns in Marie rose sauce,
Taramasalata and white pitta bread,
Jacket potatoes with baked beans, cheese and coleslaw.
those chocolate covered marshmallow tea cakes.
