Am I to old for a nose piercing?!

33 (tomorrow) and always wanted a small silver hoop in my nose but kept getting put off by people telling me it was tacky or I’m to old.

I’m a bit “fuck it” right now but I would like some honest opinions before I “fuck it and put a hole in my face Grin

I'm 51 and I've had mine for 10 years now. I love it and don't regret getting it done. I don't care what other people think.

Elphame · 07/06/2021 23:14

Had mine done in my 50s. You are never too old.

Take care with placement though - the ideal spot is different for a stud than for a ring especially if you want a small snugly fitting ring.

Make sure the piercer knows what style of jewellery you intend to wear.

Those who have had it done...Do you have to go through a painful period of wearing a bigish stud before you can take it out and just wear a thin hoop or teeny stud?

CambridgeLightBlue · 07/06/2021 23:17

Had mine done at 25. Now twice that age and still wearing it proudly.

I would get it done properly though, not a kit off Amazon.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/06/2021 23:28

I really like them, though I prefer a tiny gem stud to a hoop .

My nose is the wrong shape for a piercing sadly .

My DD (18) has had lobes , tragus ,helix and belly button piercing . She took out (and healed) some so she's just left with one in each lobe and her bellybutton. The others have left no marks .

If you don't like it then you can remove it , you;ll have a scar of some sort .But you're not too old , no .

MrsM2021 · 07/06/2021 23:30

I wear a thin gold hoop in mine and I’m 30.
Had it done for about 10 years now and I don’t plan to take it out any time soon.

Cocolapew · 07/06/2021 23:31

I still wear a hoop in mine and I'm 52.
How can you be too old for a piece of jewellery?

countrypunk · 07/06/2021 23:33

Had mine done at 19, now 37 and love it just as much now as I did then.

@ToooOldForThis I remember having to wear the stud it was pierced with for 6 weeks and I cleaned it every day with surgical spirit. It's never even been slightly crusty.

I remember shaking with nerves before I had it done, but the dude who pierced me was amazing and I didn't feel a thing.

wobblyweasel · 07/06/2021 23:35

Had mine done at 20, I'm 55 now and either wear a tiny diamond stud, or a thin silver ring.

MonkeyPuddle · 07/06/2021 23:37

Don’t be so bloody daft.
I am a 36 year old, mother of two, nurse of 10 years and I have a nose piercing. Small silver hoop. Been there years. Once I stop breastfeeding I will be adding another hoop next to it.

My son had his done a few weeks ago and he had a ring put in from the start.
OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 07/06/2021 23:45

no, you are absolutely not too old. Its your body, you get to decide how it looks! id have a nose piercing but i genuinely dont think it would look right on me but i have a lip stud and lots of ear piercings so im clearly not against piercings!

Holothane · 07/06/2021 23:46

Go for it I lov4d m9ne had to remove for hospital and theatre’s so might have it redone.

feckwit · 07/06/2021 23:46

No, had mine done at 45

noblegreenk · 07/06/2021 23:50

Do it! I had my nose pierced when I was 31 (5 years ago) and loved it. I haven't got it anymore unfortunately, but wish I did. I had it for 6 months, got drunk on a big night out and when I woke in the morning the stud must've fallen out. I tried to put another one in but it had already started closing up so I gave up on it. I still miss it.

TeamRick · 08/06/2021 07:33

I had mine done in my twenties and wore a nose stood for years. Took it out when I was 40 because I thought it was ageing and then at 50 put it back in as couldn't give a fuck!

RedthroatedCaracara · 08/06/2021 07:44

’Id say bitchiness looks worse though

You said you were looking for "honest opinions" OP Confused

If I were being bitchy I would have pointed out that you should have written too old ...

Logmein · 08/06/2021 07:58

Had mine done nearly 40 years ago, never regretted it and wear a tiny diamond stud.
Go for it OP.

MaMelon · 08/06/2021 08:04

No, you're not too old! Smile. If you like them then go for it - although since you're asking for comments I think they look tacky (and I say that in a non-bitchy way obvs Grin). What I (or anyone else) think is totally irrelevant though.

MaMaD1990 · 08/06/2021 08:07

Go for it! If you don't like it you can just take it out!

MrsBongiovi · 08/06/2021 08:11

I don’t like any facial piercings regardless of age. But who cares, you like it and age shouldn’t stop you doing stuff like this.

copperpotsalot · 08/06/2021 09:19

40 here and I have one never thought for a minute I was too old haha

Notsogreenthumb · 08/06/2021 10:20

Depends on your cultural norm. It's really common in my culture, much the same as ear piercings so age wouldn't make a difference at all. If you like it, do it. If you don't, take it out and eventually it will seal up. Mine did Smile

Yellowcrockpot · 08/06/2021 10:42

I'm 34 very soon.

I have my nose pierced and my septum (and several other places!)

Youre never too old, go for it.
