I just spent 25 mins stirring a risotto and Fitbit thought I'd walked 3 miles.

Stupid Fitbit. Behave yourself.

@isthismylifenow

Where I live our medical insurance companies offer incentives for living well, you can get good points if you submit your fitbit steps each month. My friend had a very energetic boxer dog and she attaches her fitbit to him. He does a months of steps in a day Smile

I will let her know about the risotto option as well...

Nah, the dog is MUCH better!!

Though I don't have a dog so I might make risotto!! 🤣

lavenderandwisteria · 07/06/2021 18:46

I do a lot of steps when travelling in OHs very bumpy campervan.

AlmostSummer21 · 07/06/2021 18:54

@SamusIsAGirl

You can adjust the sensitivity in the app
Fab. Might get 8000 out of a risotto.

@D0D0

That's why have an Instant Pot. Can't be doing with stirring a risotto.
Me too Grin.

My fitbit didn't pick up crochet, but my apple watch does, I can clock up miles that way.

DriedIris · 07/06/2021 19:08

I usually wear it on my non-dominant wrist but I've got a healing tattoo there at the moment.

I always forget what a pita making a risotto is until I'm doing it. I'll forget again for 6 months until I make the next one. Baked risotto in the oven really works well actually!

Hear 2 tbsp of oil
Soften onions, chorizo, leeks, garlic (or whatever) for 5 minutes.
Add 300g rice and cover it in oil for 20 seconds.
Add 1l of stock and bring to boil
Simmer and cover for about 15 minutes
Check and scrape off bottom of pan
Either cover for another five or stir for five, depending how lazy you feel
Add peas/prawns/parmensan or whatever and stir for a minute

Done!

You traditionally had to stir risotto for ages because it was cooked in tall, thin pots. Not so nowadays!

Years since I stirred a risotto for 20 mins Grin

I put mine in the tumble dryer whilst I lie on the sofa and eat a BIG back of crisps. .. and technically I've lost six stone.

Elieza · 07/06/2021 19:42

Lucky you OP. Mine won’t even synch tonight. Sigh. Bloody Fitbit. :-(

MyKingdomforaNameChange · 07/06/2021 19:43

Mine thinks I go for a bike ride every day, it's only when I checked the time it's logged that I realised it's when I'm driving home. I don't think I drive like I'm pedaling a bike... Grin

Winning! Grin

Over stirring ruins a risotto!

Mine clocked 77 minutes of swimming once when I was sorting out my wardrobe and trying everything on

RagzReturnsRebooted · 07/06/2021 22:40

I remember an acquaintance telling me she wears hers when cleaning as it gets her steps up with all the scrubbing, while getting quite competitive about her step count compared to mine. She couldn't understand why I wanted mine to actually accurately track my steps...

TonTonMacoute · 07/06/2021 22:45

Mine thought I had gone for a bike ride every time I did the washing up! I had to remove the Bike shortcut.

DH got a little fanfare from his Fitbit the other night when he scratched his arse. Apparently he’d just hit his step target for the day...

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 08/06/2021 10:14

My 20min HIIT session just registered... 1800 steps.

Maybe I should have made a risotto instead.

Is your car red and yellow with big eyes on the front?
itssquidstella · 08/06/2021 10:27

I changed the bedsheets the other day and my Fitbit told me I'd done an 11 minute aerobic workout.

Gotthetshirt23 · 08/06/2021 10:32

Oven baked mushroom risotto - no stirring !

3LittleDucksQuack · 08/06/2021 10:33

How many miles would it say if I mixed a cake then ate it?

SantaSue · 08/06/2021 10:33

I recently discovered that risotto is better if you don't stir it, just whack it all in and leave it.

namechange30455 · 08/06/2021 10:34

Peeling potatoes is the thing that really sets mine off!
