Where is my sodding kindle

I had a hysterectomy last Thursday, I have 4 DC youngest is 13 months, I can't do much but sit.

I had a book and managed to read it whilst the youngest had been napping but I finished it and there are several other books by the same author. I cannot drive so can't go to a book shop so I thought I would use my kindle.

Do you think I can find the bloody thing, nope nowhere to be seen. Please help me find it, if you were a kindle where would you hide.

They're skinny slidey buggers, mine went down the side of the couch once. Hope you're feeling better soon xx

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 02/06/2021 12:16

Falls dowm side of bed between mattress and drawer.

Pompom2367 · 02/06/2021 12:18

I think it will be in a nook down the back of the bed or the side of couch

Another one saying it has slipped down the side of a chair.

Ninkanink · 02/06/2021 12:19

Sofa. Under bed. In amongst a pile of homework/paperwork.

Faranth · 02/06/2021 12:19

Down the side of the bed/sofa.

Or did you take it on a journey/day out? Could it be in a seldom used handbag?

Luckingfovely · 02/06/2021 12:21

Hiding under an actual book or magazine. I think they have an inferiority complex.

PinkFizz19 · 02/06/2021 12:22

Have you looked behind your bale of hay? Wink

(That's a whole different thread)

cornflakegirl · 02/06/2021 12:23

Download the app on to your phone / tablet and shame it into turning up.

HilaryBriss · 02/06/2021 13:00

I threw mine away once Blush, I think it was on top of a pile of magazines for recycling and someone put more on the top and they all went into the recycling bag. At least I assume that's where it went, I never found it and had to buy another one!

fatisnotafeeling · 02/06/2021 13:03

Thank you all you've made me smile

It is not down the side of the sofa, chair or bed.

I've checked my selfdom used handbag in the boot of the car and it's not there.

I though it was on DHs desk amongst the pile of books but nope, even DS thought it was there.

I have downloaded the app but I hate reading on my phone damnit.

This is very unlike because normally I know where every single item is in this house at any one time, DD thinks I'm magic, but I just cannot remember which leads me to believe it's hiding or got up and walked out in protest at not being used.

@PinkFizz19 I'm afraid I don't have a bale of hay , I do have a bit of hay for the ferrets but it's not a bale.
You have me intrigued.

My DH keeps 'tidying' mine by putting it in one of our bookshelves, where it instantly turns near-invisible because it's sandwiched in between two much taller books.
Have you any similarly 'helpful' tidiers in your house, OP?

fatisnotafeeling · 02/06/2021 13:13

@TreeWizard what is this you speak of ? Nobody in my house tries to be helpful by tiding !

I had one of the DCs bring the washing basket down on Saturday so I could put some washing in. I cannot carry it back upstairs die to the hysterectomy. I decided I wouldn't ask anyone to do it and see how long it took. I was surprised as it was taken up by DD2 this morning and I thought it would take a lot longer.

Anyway point is nobody does anything without me having to ask them to do it.

@fatisnotafeeling This person was trying to find their phone. Everyone was throwing solutions at them and it turned out to be under a bake of hay?! Grin

I’d call an emergency family meeting and have them all hunt for it. Biscuit for the winner.

PinkFizz19 · 02/06/2021 13:15

bale* of hay (sorry for typo)

BeaLola · 02/06/2021 13:19

Inside a magazine or newspaper - they are very easy to loose

Try airing cupboard (mine got sandwiched between 2 towels)

CaurnieBred · 02/06/2021 13:22

I found mine in the side pocket of the car door after looking for days. I was distraught without it.

HiGunny · 02/06/2021 13:25

My kindle decided to go missing for a few weeks last year. It had me completely baffled and I turned the house upside down looking for it. Eventually (completely by chance) I found it in a cupboard in the spare room where we keep our emergency food storage. I had obviously gone in there holding the Kindle and put it down on the shelf to grab a tin of tomatoes.

Chillychili · 02/06/2021 13:30

Mine turned up in ‘the draw’, the draw of crap every house has.

fatisnotafeeling · 02/06/2021 13:44

@Chillychili we call that the draw of shameGrin, we also have a cupboard like that and that is where it normally lives but it's not there.

The last time I remember having it for definite is when the baby was newborn and that was a year ago now.

I am wracking my brain and hoping at some point I'll have a lightbulb moment and remember where it is.

Pedant alert. Surely it is drawer not draw?

Kindles are so easy to lose. It is definitely between papers or books.

LadyLindaT · 02/06/2021 13:53

Mine tends to burrow under my pillow.

DH's helpful tidying seems to be very sporadic and limited to one or two things - usually mine or DD's, while his mountains of stuff are left in piles all over the place!

Could you bribe a DC to look for your kindle? I hope it turns up soon.
