FFS another bonkers MN thread!

Do we have any advance on £300?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 02/06/2021 12:20

@itsgettingwierd

Over £200 on a cake Shock

I'm not even sure I would know what a £200 cake looked like but I'd want it to tease like gold dust and last me at least 5 months!

Ds and I are 2 days apart and we either get a small cake each (I'm GF) or I make a GF cake for his birthday if he wants something particular.

It's 3 tiers and quite a complicated design. I wanted it to look decent Grin

Agree with £100.

aibutohavethisusername · 02/06/2021 12:43

£50 - £75

ShirleyPhallus · 02/06/2021 12:52

£200 on a cake?! Do you have a photo of it or something similar @Waxonwaxoff0?

Lucyh179 · 02/06/2021 13:18

£100 seems plenty! £250 seems loads....

I don't as the cake maker is designing it but it's 3 tiers, Roblox themed with 3 different flavour sponges for each tier.

I have just gone to aldi for a cake for mines birthday. Its genuinely her fave. Less than a fiver 😁

purpledagger · 02/06/2021 14:46

£150-£200.

Firstly, I used to get £100 ish when I was that age and I'm £40, so I'm factoring in inflation.

Secondly, £100 doesn't go far (thinking of the types of things my nephew is into - trainers, tracksuits).

kowari · 02/06/2021 15:17

Waitrose wedding cakes are around the £200 mark, I wouldn't pay that for a birthday cake! How many serves is that?

It serves 100.
FedNlanders · 02/06/2021 16:09

100 people :o

Feellikeimsinking · 02/06/2021 16:10

@FedNlanders

100 people :o
Giving 100 people as a gift is decidedly random 😂
purplesequins · 02/06/2021 16:12

about 100 plus a couple of things to open.
like books, gift card for their gaming, tickets for surf lessons an activity.

FedNlanders · 02/06/2021 16:18

Haha opps. It was meant to be a shock face in reply to cake. I think gifting my teen 100 people would be her idea of a nightmare!

GreyhoundG1rl · 03/06/2021 17:55

Why would you want birthday cake which serves 100? Confused. Surely he's not having a party for 100 people any time soon?

Maybe she knows she will want to eat cake 100 times?

I know that I’d like to eat cake 100 times.

Because no birthday cake that says it serves 100 actually serves 100. Unless you’re serving wafer thing teeny tiny portions of cake.

A birthday cake saying it serves 100 actually serves 30

Because it will likely only serve half of that Grin he's not having a party for 100, but we have plenty of extended family who will call to wish him a happy birthday. And I'll just pop the rest in the freezer for when I fancy some cake. Which is often.
GreyhoundG1rl · 03/06/2021 18:58

Fair enough Grin

Mathshelpme · 03/06/2021 19:43

Birthday cake is my favourite.

M&S do a lovely miniature blue birthday cake, with a red balloon on it. I tend to buy one every few days and I divide it into three for dessert. It’s yummy and completed unrelated to the thread...but I felt it should be mentioned.

GreenEyedMonsterMunch · 03/06/2021 20:15

£50

Favourite take away for dinner

Supermarket or local bakery cake (paid for one to be made last year and everyone hated it. Never again)

Paid trip to the cinema.

That's it. 16th/18th/21st will be a good bit more but for normal birthdays I wouldn't give more than £50/60 unless it was towards a new phone/laptop etc then I'd give more.
