I'm a Beekeeper, and have a hive in my garden, was sitting out earlier on a fair way from the hive and noticed this fellow a bit tired.
No idea if it was one of mine or not, but gave a little refreshment and off he went right as rain!
Managed to get an amazing photo 😃

Thanks for this wonderful photo OP - it made me smile!People sometimes forget how important bees are to all of us. 💙 🐝

I watched this presentation live a few years ago, & was pretty surprised to learn that the only bees who leave the hive are the females - apparently males are all drones whose only job is to mate with the Queen.

You'll be the buzz of the bee hive...that little one will have flown back and will be telling all their bee buddies about you.

(I love bees 🐝 I've been gently shepherding bumbles out of my mum's conservatory all weekend)

HerMammy · 31/05/2021 17:51

Beautiful, lucky wee fella 🐝

LottaHogs · 31/05/2021 17:51

I love this!

CheerfulBunny · 31/05/2021 18:15

We've got a little solitary bee living under the shed. I love seeing him flying in and out, just going about his business. He's so gentle, he just flies around you.

LoveFall · 31/05/2021 18:17

Lovely picture, thank you. I save earthworms from drowning in puddles when I see them. Earthworms are useful little critters too! Grin

How lovely! Earlier this year I helped a bee out which looked like the spiders were eyeing up! It was a four dandelion job in the end, but about 20 mins after I moved it, it just flew away Smile

How beautiful. Thank you for sharing this.

queenofthenorthwest · 31/05/2021 18:57

That's lovely

queenofthenorthwest · 31/05/2021 18:58

If you see a bee or one gets locked in the house should I give them sugar water then?

I didn't know this was a thing.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 31/05/2021 19:02

Is there a particular mixture you have to use? I'd get a bee revival keyring but only if I can refill it.

MargaretThursday · 31/05/2021 19:07

We have a nest of bumble bees in a bird box this year. I love watching them and have planted extra flowers round the box for them.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 31/05/2021 19:17

I love bees! We had some solitary bees living in our big hotel a couple of years ago, and whenever I was gardening they'd come and buzz around me, investigating what I was doing as if they were curious about it. And my mum seems to have some bumble bees nesting in her shed, and I love seeing them wandering in and out.

IamaBluebird · 31/05/2021 19:22

Lovely photo, spent a nice quiet hour watching the bees in my garden today, such industrious little things Daffodil

MrsCatE · 31/05/2021 19:30

Just moved and are planting to attract Bees. I know this sounds stupid but after BastardCat suddenly died in early March the antics of a lovely, big fat Bumblebee lived in the established Japonica cheered us up.

exexpat · 31/05/2021 19:37

(pedant alert)

If it's a honey bee, shouldn't it be off she went? All the workers are female, and that doesn't look like a drone (male).

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 31/05/2021 19:44

I have read the whole thread thinking the same @exexpat Grin

Superwomen those bees 🐝 💪

AlfonsoTheMango · 31/05/2021 19:48

I am going to get my nature-loving father a bee-revival kit for his birthday. Thanks for the great idea, OP!

toomanyplants · 31/05/2021 20:04

@exexpat the drones are male, the females stay in the hive working with the Queen, it's the boy bees that go out collecting pollen mainly

toomanyplants · 31/05/2021 20:08

@YesItsMeIDontCare 1:1 ratio of sugar and water is fine for them as a pick me up, plain water fine also, the sugar adds an energy boost, like a red bull or Coca Cola I guess
Take an empty water bottle 0.5 litre, pour in sugar to half way mark, top up with hot water to dissolve, good shake and once it's cooled just keep it for when it's needed 👍🏼

Aww amazing, we’ve made our garden more bee friendly and love to watch them. Revived a few over the years too. Thank you for helping this little one, it’s heartwarming.
