Ok yes of course girls can watch fireman Sam, but my DD doesn't like it so far. My DS graduated from watching nursery rhymes onto Fireman Sam. So looking for something for DD. So far Peppa pig is not appreciate either. She will watch a little Paw Patrol with her older brother, she likes animals.

There isn’t one, it’s for boys and girls.

My dd watched fireman Sam. Maybe yours just doesn’t like tv much Smile My dd loved Peppa Pig!

MustardRose · 30/05/2021 21:54

How about 64 Zoo Lane?
Pingu?

GrouchyKiwi · 30/05/2021 21:55

Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Paw Patrol

Actually, how old are we talking here?

Disney has some fantastic shows:

  • Elena of Avalor
  • Mira Royal Detective
  • Tangled the Series
  • Sofia the First, even though she's bloody annoying and the animation is a bit uncanny valley, but there are good lessons and my wee girls love it
  • Big Hero 6
MadMadMadamMim · 30/05/2021 21:56

Is Dora the Explorer still on? If you're looking for a programme with a girl lead in it.

PinkBuffalo · 30/05/2021 21:57

Not sure how old your dd is but shimmer and shine were my nieces favourite a couple of years ago (I have never seen it so cannot really comment lol)

AnneShirleysNewDress · 30/05/2021 21:58

My DD is obsessed with Fireman Sam. DD1 liked Ben and Holly (Nanny Plum makes it worth watching), The Hive, Sofia the First, Doc McStuffins and Sarah and Duck.

PacifyLulu · 30/05/2021 21:59

A girl’s equivalent Hmm
Why not just an alternative? God help kids if their tastes are defined by gender by the time they’re toddlers

I like little princess, DS liked it too it's pretty funny, but I'm not keen on the butter bean cafe, it's certainly not the worst one, but I have an issue with highly giggly over girly characters. Having Nella the princess knight flashbacks- it could be been so good . I do wish DD would watch Fireman Sam. She's not that into TV to be fair, but I need to do a long car journey with them both so was trying to find some bits to download Incase DD is awake. They have a 4 year age gap so not much they both like.

It isn't a girl/boy thing Confused

LagneyandCasey · 30/05/2021 22:04

As pp has mentioned, Dora the Explorer is great. Charlie & Lola is wonderful.

purpleme12 · 30/05/2021 22:04

There's tonnes of TV shows to choose from!
I'm sure she'll be able to find one she likes
Watch tiny pop or cbeebies

purpleme12 · 30/05/2021 22:05

Or Ben & Holly...

BertieBotts · 30/05/2021 22:05

How old is she? DS2 is only just starting to watch TV programmes, he is 2.9. Before that he would happily watch some Blippi nonsense or nursery rhyme videos, but he couldn't follow a storyline. Even now he has to be in the mood to watch stories. He still prefers songs.

DS1 liked In The Night Garden when he was very little before he could focus on anything that has episodes/stories.

hopingtochangeeachtime · 30/05/2021 22:05

@PacifyLulu my DS was and is into anything vehicle ( which I'm sorry to say is a stereotypical boy interest, not something I pushed him into, I tried to get him into Sarah & Duck) so an alternative might be Thomas or Ricky zoom or Blaze, Octonauts, but DD doesn't like any of those.. so far. DD is already a toddler and has her own fiesty views on what she doesn't like. Just trying to think of some alternatives.

Dinosaur train?

Undersnatch · 30/05/2021 22:06

Does she like octonauts? That’s one that my 5 and 2yr old can agree on.

Branleuse · 30/05/2021 22:07

Charlie and lola?

FionnulaTheCooler · 30/05/2021 22:09

My DD loved My Little Pony when she was younger, she was pony daft for about 4 years. It's a pretty good show in terms of showing diverse female characters too, they're not all just pretty, pink, girly ponies, there are sporty ponies, tomboy ponies, bookworm ponies etc.

Gertie75 · 30/05/2021 22:10

Mine lived Sofia the First and Doc McStuffins, each episode had a catchy song in.

daisypond · 30/05/2021 22:10

Hey Duggee?

Bluey is fabulous.

Changechangychange · 30/05/2021 22:11

Octonauts? Lots of actual marine biology as well, if she likes animals.

Or would she like some live-action stuff? DS preferred things with real children for ages - stuff like Let’s go for a walk, Our Family, Topsy and Tim, Baby Jake, Apple Tree House. He was just far more interested in seeing real children doing things than he was into cartoons. Also liked programmes about the world, things like Maddie and Me, Vet Tales, and Andy’s Dinosaur Adventures.

Peppapeg · 30/05/2021 22:11

Put cbeebies on and see what programme she enjoys?
