What would your sleep timings be if....

You didnt have work, kids etc. So if your body could settle its sleep rhythm naturally.

I would be asleep by 10.30pm and up by 9.30am. The minimum sleep ideal for me is 9 hours solidly, but preferable is 11 hours.

DH on the other hand would be asleep by midnight and up at 6am, his natural body clock is better on minimal sleep. Too much sleep and he struggles the next day with tiredness which seems counter intuitive.

My natural routine is not to sleep until about 3am then sleep until the early afternoon. Worked when I did shifts and didn't have ds. Now it does not! I sleep like a teenager and can always nap. However I usually now go to bed between 11 and 12 and am up with ds at 6.45 most days.

If I totally leave it to myself I sync up to more like a 25/26 hour cycle so it gets later and later and later until I go all the way through the day, or I think I would - I've never actually tested it for long enough.

I have ADHD and apparently this is correlated with delayed sleep phase disorder, which is where your circadian cycle is longer than 24 hours.

I know that I really struggle waking up before 8am winter time / 9am summer time, any earlier feels like the middle of the night and I really struggle to get going.

But ideal for me in terms of a 24 hour cycle is to go to bed around 1/2am and wake up around 10/11am. 9 hours is about right for me.

11-7 which isn't far off the 11:30-6:50 I get most nights. DP on the other hand needs far less sleep than I do, so we have found a happy medium.

maybe stay awake for 18-22 hours, 4-6 hour sleeps, 18-22 hours awake, repeat

Bed about 2/3am, then up about 9/10am. When left to my own devices i'm nocturnal. It kills me getting up at 6 in the morning!

Pro a sly 10/11-6.

Always been an early riser.

However ds is a swimmer so now it's 9/10pm - 4/5am and I "sleep in" until 6/7am at the weekends.

Single, childfree, self employed - at least partly so I can run on my own weird nocturnal schedule.

Bed between 1am and 4am, wake between 10am and midday. Best work is done between 2pm and midnight and dinner is usually around 11pm.

Asleep 10:30 or 11 and up at 9 ish. Love, love love sleeping.

In reality, on a school night it's 9:30 / 10 and get up at 6:30 ish.
