Things in house just disappearing? Paranormal?

Okay I know you might think I'm mad but I'm genuinely serious 🤣
Weve lived on our home for 1.5yrs. We live in a terrace house so theres not much room for things to go missing. If I misplaced something I could easily spot it out.

My partner had a large glass for smoothies and milkshakes. one day it just disappeared. He got a large cup for his bday, used it and left it on his desk (I saw it, as did he) the next day it was gone.. these things have yet to turn up.

In this house I've heard crisps packets on the kitchen top crinkle and bags under the stairs make noise, the playstation and tv magically turning on (they are wired up in different rooms) just weird stuff. After noise on the kitchen by baby was staring so intensely at something, following whatever it was around till she reached the doorway and went back to playing. Most nights at 1ish I hear creaking up the stairs and then a noise on the doorframe. (We dont have doors, house is small) The other night after the creaking, a plastic wrapper besides my partners bed was being crunched, repeatedly. After 30secs or so I was like wth? I woke my partner up and as he did it stopped. I could see his hands the whole time. I've even saw a white shadow walk past the baby monitor multiole times and then it disconnects and reconnect again. Theres more but itd be too long.

All this stopped until I said to my partner? Remeber those glasses that went missing? It was all your stuff, maybe it doesnt like you as a joke. Now my stuff is going missing 🤣 the big bottle of salt? It's gone. It goes in one place and again it's pretty hard to loose and if I misplaced it, it would be easy to find. The celatape I needed to seal my parcel which was left on the kitchen top goes missing and I have to use masking tape. My babies doll goes missing, how can a 15 month old hide a large toy so intricately that neither me or my partner can find. I've searched everywhere, in every draw, in her toy box multiple times, even moving the furniture and checking behind it. It's just vanished? I'm

I've had a alot of paranormal stuff at my mums to the extent where I had carpet burn from holding on the bed cover which was ripped off me. With the stuff I experienced there youd think I was just repeating a horror film 🤣 I'm not going mad like these things are literally disappearing!!!! Has anyone else had this

Well, someone's doing it, but I'd put my house on it being a living person! Would you consider putting up cheap cameras? Does anyone have a key to your doors?

WingingItEveryDay7 · 27/05/2021 18:33

Sounds like you have a poltergeist living with you! We had one when I was young. Things always going missing and funny smells would materialise whenever my step brother visited and stayed in what we realised was the poltergeists room.... Went downstairs one morning and the table in the conservatory had been moved in front of the door. Dad had to go out the front door and in through the back to move it out the way!! 'He' randomly went away one day, no idea what we did because he'd been there years 🤷‍♀️

Spied · 27/05/2021 18:36

Do you have any older children who could/would play pranks on you?
Could it be DP?

I actually do believe in ghosts but I'd be looking to the living first.

I did. I started to think I was going mad.

It was ExH. Turned out he was very emotionally abusive and this was one of his tricks.....

MrsFin · 27/05/2021 18:40

The crisp packet crinkling stuff is probably a mouse.
Things going missing is either your DH playing a joke on you, or you are being forgetful as to where you leave stuff.
I know this because, ghosts don't exist.

Sophie1029734 · 27/05/2021 18:42

Only one child who is 15 months no one can gain access to the house other than me and partner. It's messing with my head because large items like that are so hard to just loose? And not just 1 thing but multiple. It touched my little girls favourite doll that she takes everywhere, now I'm pissed at it 🙄

We dont have mince, I can say that with extreme confidence. I worked with animals and done 3 courses, I'd know straight away if we had a mouse.

I’d have to move 😅

Jennywrenne · 27/05/2021 18:47

Did you replace the locks when you moved?

Bythemillpond · 27/05/2021 18:48

We live in a 1950s very ordinary house.
We remodelled it a few years ago and moved everything out.
As one point the only thing we had in the living room was a sofa, a tv table and a tv. There wasn’t a cushion or picture or rug on the wooden floors.

We were sat on the sofa. Dh got up to make us coffee and put his phone on the sofa arm. I saw it there as he got up.
I was looking at my phone. Dh walks back in with both coffees and then can’t find his phone. We searched high and low. In all the crevices of the sofa, up turned it. We literally looked everywhere with no look. It had vanished.

About 3 years later I come into the living room one morning, which now has a rug on the floor

In the middle of the rug is dh’s phone.

To this day we have no idea where it could possibly have gone or how it suddenly appeared in the middle of the rug.

I feel for you because no one believes things disappear. But they do

WeAreTheHeroes · 27/05/2021 18:50

Terraced house you say? In the loft space is it possible to get through to or from one of the next door neighbours' houses?

Bythemillpond · 27/05/2021 18:50

Oh and to make it more strange. It still was charged

Sophie1029734 · 27/05/2021 19:04

Really interesting reading your story, that's insane that it was still charged. I completely believe you, it's hard to not sound mad when your reasoning for it is something your cant see and many people dont beleieve you.

Our entry to the attack is inside my daughter room, it's like another woordrobe but we use it for strorage and it's pretty much to the top. itd make a lot of noise if someone was comeing in and out, lots would fall . theres also a book case infront of the door. When we moved in the attic was checked so it's also not that :( I'm also stay at home mum so no one would come in or out without me hearing them

Anyone else got any similar experiences?

Bythemillpond · 27/05/2021 19:21

Wait a few years and it will turn up randomly.

We did used to live in a really old thatched cottage and got quite used to going to the bottom of the stairs and shouting Shut Up up the stairs.
I did it when a friend was round and she got really creeped out first hearing noises getting louder and louder that sounded like a group running in and out of the upstairs rooms whilst yelling something or other and then me shouting Shut Up and the noise stopping
Before anyone says anything there wasn’t a bathroom or radiator upstairs so there were no banging pipes

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 27/05/2021 19:30

One of my cats had a thing for dolls. He'd drag them along by the hair and stash them in ridiculous places, along with the kids' pipecleaners and packets of crisps. Another one would nick clothes from the woman next door - she started with the odd baby sock on the back doorstep and finally graduated to an entire Salwar Kameez hoiked out of a drawer. Yes my cats were dysfunctional

Idontknowanymore05 · 27/05/2021 20:09

Ever played a Ouija board? @Sophie1029734

StrangeAddiction · 27/05/2021 21:12

Has anyone seen Lainey and Ben's YouTube channel? It's a young couple who are experiencing strange going on's and it seems pretty legit! I watched one video where they do a zoom call investigation it was long but good.

bunnytheegghunter · 27/05/2021 22:27

I had things like this happen in my old property. It was driving me mad, clothes would go missing, toys, plates, and once my glasses! I went to bed, put them on the bedside table, woke up in the morning and the glasses were gone, I literally had a bed, a bedside table a wardrobe and a chest of drawers in the room, I pulled everything out but they were just gone Hmmmy husband at the time was in work all night and my baby was 7 months old. They never ever turned up. Luckily I had a spare pair. Toys would start playing randomly when no one was near them. The rustling of bags and crisps etc used to happen too. I drove myself up the wall pulling everything out all the time looking for signs of mice or rats. You don't realise how on edge it all makes you till it stops. After about 6 years it all went away and nothing ever happened again.

partyatthepalace · 27/05/2021 23:09

Well bags do make crinkle sounds and houses do creak, and electric wiring can play up (get that checked BTW).

The missing stuff is either your DH playing about or stuff is being misplaced.

The shadows and stuff are heightened imagination.

Bythemillpond · 27/05/2021 23:22

So Dh has kept the phone recharged for a few years then even though he was in a different country he flew back, let himself in the house, left the phone in the middle of the floor then caught a plane back before flying back a few days later.

I think you can come up with explanations but ultimately none of the explanations can cover what happens.

In our last house Dh who had to wear a tie for work woke up one morning to find he couldn’t find a single one.

They appeared a couple of weeks later

Starsong82 · 27/05/2021 23:40

Anyone in the house experiencing headaches and do you have a carbon monoxide detector? Not sure on the paranormal aspect of things but long term exposure to low levels of carbon monoxide can cause memory loss, confusion and hearing disorders so I'd be inclined to check that out first.

BestZebbie · 27/05/2021 23:43

If it is a doll she takes everywhere, could yo have left it at the park, etc? Fallen out from under the buggy?
