Bakery section is good, GI loaf, Sourdough loaf are favourites . The only thing I wouldn't buy is the meat, I don't know if I have just been unlucky or something but I don't rate it at all.

Madame Glamour perfume, gets mistaken for Chanel on a regular basis.

Whysotired · 22/05/2021 19:29

@Snooks1971 yeah them! Definitely stock up I bought three packets yesterday Grin.

@SummerHouse definitely buy them I promise they are amazing!

QueenPaw · 22/05/2021 19:42

Oh the bakery brownies and doughnuts are good for the price, especially the brownies 😍
I end up spending more because I'm "oh that's cheap, let's try it"
Their own brand mayo is actually my favourite and own brand bbq sauce is sweet but decent enough for dipping etc

EversoDelighted · 22/05/2021 19:54

It's fine for unprocessed stuff like cheese, butter, flour, but things like cereal, sauces (table and cooking) and ready meals are generally poor IMO. Fruit and veg vary a lot, check carefully. Never bought much meat there but cooked fish (smoked salmon etc) is good. The olives in jars are rank.

Lidl app will save you £10 if you spend £200 a month, and there's always extra money off stuff. I avoid the bakery due to it all being open and I'm a bit weird with people handling stuff, and the fruit is always shite, especially the apples, but most other stuff is palatable. Fake Ben and Jerry's is nice, as is their other posh ice cream, the Greek yogurt is lush, their gummy bears are nicer than Haribo, chocolate is decent, the kids love the breakfast selection (waffles and croissants etc), they do some nice cheese and meats and it's always interesting to try whatever is on sale on their themed weeks. We go through a huge amount of their cola max stuff as well.

twirlbite · 22/05/2021 19:59

Pain au raisin, plus look out ( on their app) for their Italian/ Spanish/ Greek etc weeks

Flipflops85 · 22/05/2021 20:00

Layered yoghurts, the pizza (in the fridges not freezer) smoked cheese, gin

WildishBambino · 22/05/2021 20:00

Their apple juice is indistinguishable from the Waitrose Essentials one (I did a family taste test), and it comes in 1.5l cartons.

Also their Fin Carre dark chocolate with whole hazelnuts is lovely.

FleetwoodRaincoat · 22/05/2021 20:04

Oh and their premium fresh orange juice is better than branded ones.

Cornishbelle · 22/05/2021 20:05

Been to lidl a few times and been fairly impressed they have some lovely seasonal stuff that you don't see in other shops eg different salads in summer, festive chocs desserts at Christmastime. Like a pp said though the bakery puts me off especially since covid, I'm surprised they can carry on having everything uncovered like that. The stuff looks really nice but not should I would risk it these days.

Juanbablo · 22/05/2021 20:07

The sugar waffles. Greek yogurt. Dried fruit. Nuts. Jam.

H1978 · 22/05/2021 20:09

The cheese twists from the bakery and their deluxe strawberry cheesecake ice cream.

newtb · 22/05/2021 20:33

I'm in France so don't know if it's the same but their Moser Roth chocolate bars with orange/raspberry/caramel in. Don't like the pistachio one, though.

There are also cylinders of goat's cheese divided into discs that I marinade in oil with spices.

Spied · 22/05/2021 20:40

JD Gross chocolate seashells.
I always have a childish smirk at the 'Gross' but honestly they're lovely and better than Guylian imo.

Nuggetnugget · 22/05/2021 21:21

This is the vodka I recommend Grin

Nuggetnugget · 22/05/2021 21:22

I also bought artichokes but don't know what to do with them.. Maybe painting with the dc tomorrow. Use them as stampers.

TheRavenNevermore · 22/05/2021 21:27

Moser Roth chocolate is Aldi @newtb - it is delicious though.

I love Lidl and have never had any issues with their fruit, veg or meat. I think the meat is better quality than Asda and Tesco and certainly considerably better value.

bubblebath62636 · 22/05/2021 21:34

Nappies and Wipes!

If needed of cours3.

MumofPsuedoAdult · 22/05/2021 21:36

Salted caramel dark chocolate. No one else does one as good (or cheap).

Sh05 · 22/05/2021 21:44

Wild salmon from the freezer, some of their yoghurts are really good.
Their Sweet chilli crackers are great with noodles.

omgthepain · 22/05/2021 21:46

I find with both Aldi and Lidl their fruit and veg goes off really quickly and the meat isn't great quality the bacon is disgusting and the crisps are revolting as is the horrible cheap chocolate

I go maybe every couple of months for tinned tomatoes and fruit juices

I wouldn't bother
