Is this weather ever going to improve?

I’m not someone who suffers from depression but this constant grey, wet and wind is really starting to affect me. I feel so depressed waking up to the same shit everyday. I just want to feel the sun on my face, to spend time outdoors to swim at the beach. I genuinely feel like I can’t cope with this

I feel the same, I love Autumn and Winter but not in May, I'm sick of feeling cold.

PegPeople · 22/05/2021 11:12

I want to turn the heating off but it's still bloody freezing. Where I live we've genuinely only had 2 and 1/2 nice days in the whole of May so far. I don't need it to be hot but is it so much to ask for it to be dry!!

CadburyCake · 22/05/2021 11:15

I think it’s shaping up to be 2012 again - wet and cold all summer. Some years it happens. Certainly the long range forecast on the BBC is predominantly wet and cold for weeks still. I’m sure there’ll be a few nice days at some point though.

CatCup · 22/05/2021 11:17

Where I am it's 10 degree and miserable. But the BBC weather app is suggesting next weekend, bit more sun and highs of 19 degrees which sounds better!

Hypie · 22/05/2021 11:18

The longest day of the year is in 4 weeks. Then it’s downhill again. I genuinely cannot wait until my kids are grown and I can leave this place. A few nice days isn’t enough for me

It’s miserable. Sooooo sick of it.

Would normally at least have a holiday booked to look forward to but not yet this year until we know what’s happening.

I don’t want a heatwave. I just want it to be nice enough to be able to sit out and read for a bit every day. Dry dog walks. Blue skies to wake up to.

I think we should start a petition. Or something! Do you think Mother Nature would take notice of a petition?

We could make a sacrifice to the weather gods? I’d happily sacrifice Boris Johnson.

gurglebelly · 22/05/2021 11:21

You aren't the only one that feels like it, in fact there is another thread running as well

I must be the only one who likes this weather lol

kittylau44 · 22/05/2021 12:25

@CadburyCake I was thinking the same about the summer of 2012. I remember that summer so clearly simply because the weather was consistently awful!
So many people really struggling at the moment. As if the pandemic wasn't enough, we now have awful weather keeping us all indoors 😞

MrsLCSofLichfield · 22/05/2021 12:31

No, it's not not going to improve. It's going to be like we're all living in Glasgow for the rest of our lives Grin

IhaveMyMoments · 22/05/2021 12:36

It's depressing me. Been to wet to go to parks etc
Don't want to pay to go to places everyday that's inside.
It's stopped raining. It's about 11 degrees fairly windy. But I've made the kids go in garden for air playing with the neighbours kids. Otherwise they want to sit on laptops and constantly graze on anything and everything.
Hour or so of fresh air do them good. And get hours peace before toddler wakes and dh gets home haha.. Pass the cake!

murbblurb · 22/05/2021 12:37

Sun coming out now. Should get better. And definitely better after half term, weather always better outside school holidays. No idea why that is.

KurtWilde · 22/05/2021 12:40

Thoroughly depressing. I'm in Yorkshire and autumn started in July last year and morphed into never ending winter by November. Weather doesn't normally bother me too much but this is ridiculous and is really getting me down now.

JassyRadlett · 22/05/2021 12:45

It’s like bloody Narnia without the benefits of at least having a bit of snow.

PegPeople · 22/05/2021 12:50

Still pissing it down here and still baltic. If you have sun I hope you're managing to make the most of it. According to my phone it's a whole 8 degrees and not due to stop raining until 11pm tonight. Sad

ncgy · 22/05/2021 12:52

Do you think Summer will be shit? Tbf we've been incredibly lucky in my area the last few yrs summer wise.

Hypie · 22/05/2021 12:54

Pictures of mates huddled under gazebos freezing and wet. Would rather just not fucking bother. I’ve had enough

I can't remember 2012 being a bad summer. We moved house on 25thJuly that year and it was really hot at least high 20s. The Olympics started a few days later and thought it was good weather then.

Bluntness100 · 22/05/2021 12:59

It is supposed to start getting better by Tuesday wed and then on to next weekend, bank holiday weekend, so fingers crossed we start coming out of it now. I think most folks are sick of it to be honest. The bbc and met office are saying we are looking at it moving to dry weather from next week and even temps of 19/20 over the bank holiday, so fingers crossed.

tentosix · 22/05/2021 13:01

Half term is looking ok. I'm on staycation by the coast then 😀

Sorka · 22/05/2021 13:08

I’m with you OP. I’ve had enough. I just want nice weather. Even a day of nice weather so it’s not constantly dreary, wet, cold and windy. I have this week off and was so hoping it would be nice but nope, still terrible.

Lunariagal · 22/05/2021 13:24

I remember 2012 being an awful summer.

Our allotment site has a really high water table in the winter, inches of standing water, impossible to grow winter crops.

That was what it was like in the summer of 2012. Half of us shut our plots down for the winter in August.

Better not be like that this year.

Crunchymum · 22/05/2021 13:26

Not sure where you are but the S.E is set to perk up a little from end of next week (18c and sunny spells). Perfect timing for half term !

KurtWilde · 22/05/2021 13:26

My garden has been under water for weeks and weeks. The drainage is awful. My weather app says rain forever, not even let up for half term.
