Is this weather ever going to improve?

I’m not someone who suffers from depression but this constant grey, wet and wind is really starting to affect me. I feel so depressed waking up to the same shit everyday. I just want to feel the sun on my face, to spend time outdoors to swim at the beach. I genuinely feel like I can’t cope with this

It looks like it's going to get better from the end of this week (at least dry and fairly warm), so hang in there!

I think you've mistaken Mumsnet from the Delphic Oracle.

JellyBabiesSaveLives · 22/05/2021 13:51

It's the hail that's getting to me. The endless rain - miserable but it happens sometimes. But hail showers, several times a week? In May?

I need to speak to the manager.

@CadburyCake my dd was born summer of 2012 on the longest day (it was for me anyway!) when we brought her home my darling mum was chasing balloons and banners down the road that she had pinned to my front door but had been ripped off by the wind !! Not the lovely sunny day we had hoped for.

Flyinggeese1 · 22/05/2021 14:12

wickedwitchofthedance no, me too. I love rain and don’t understand why dry, sunny etc is better.

I like a good downpour, but even i've had enough of it now. The last 2 weeks have been constant heavy rain for most of the day, often accompanied by gusting wind and hail. Dry sunny weather isn't better, but it would be nice to have a change from cold, wet and windy.
KurtWilde · 22/05/2021 14:18

The hail was coming down our chimney during the week. My dogs came running inside panicked it was so heavy. In May?!

“ I can't remember 2012 being a bad summer. We moved house on 25thJuly that year and it was really hot at least high 20s. The Olympics started a few days later and thought it was good weather then.”

I was at the Olympics one day at an outdoor event. It was windy, rained intermittently and I wore trousers, jumper, coat and was still cold! I think there were a few better days as well but it wasn’t particularly good weather.

In summer 2012 we were under the Gulf Stream for a couple of weeks. That makes it rain a lot, apparently.

BadgerHair · 22/05/2021 16:52

I know, the weather is depressing. Just glad we had a nice spring last year, as the only thing we could do was go out for a walk.

JovialNickname · 22/05/2021 16:53

There's such a wintry chill in the air today. It's not just the low temperatures it's the autumnal feel. I think if it was bright and sunny but cold I wouldn't mind so much!

Laiste · 22/05/2021 16:55

July is going to be lovely. Especially the middle 2 weeks.

:)

lollipoprainbow · 22/05/2021 17:07

I think it's the raining one minute and sunny the next that's annoying, I'd love a properly rainy day it needs to make its mind up !!

Miljea · 22/05/2021 19:25

You mean jet stream.

The Gulf Stream (NorthAtlantic Drift by the time it reaches us) is a warm ocean current and is what makes the UK like the UK, not like Nova Scotia despite being at the same latitude.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 22/05/2021 19:28

nope.
it's just gonna carry on raining and be cold.
I'm still wearing my hooded winter coat on school runs. it's just bizarre.

nice rainbow though

@Miljea - thank you, my faulty memory at play there! Meterology not my strong point
