Do you know an ‘Amanda‘ from Motherland?

I love motherland and this 3rd series has been the funniest imo 😀

Amanda and Liz are my faves, despite Amanda totally doing my head in at the same time 🤣

I wondered whether you know or knew anyone like Amanda? She seems a bit too far fetched!

Or any of the other characters?

@picturesandpickles

Julia is monstrous I think, she is so selfish. Meg is the most annoying because she is happy Grin.
I agree... she’s also too shrill and self obsessed

We definitely have an Amanda, as another poster just said, they have a real tendency to gravitate ONLY those who will be of some benefit to them, or who she can use in some way to do something she doesn't want to do. School fair? She'll take the credit for 'organising' it but really it will have been her minions who broke their backs sorting every last thing. Generally though, the social climbing tactics are RIFE. Your husband owns a New York apartment? Let me be your friend!!!

Criticises teaching staff constantly behind their backs, yet giggles and chit chats with staff any other time...hangs out at the classroom any chance she can get until the very last minute. So intense in general.

So I live near Southfields where they film it and my kids go to basically the next primary school along and it is uncomfortable as it's our houses, our cafes, etc. I think Amanda would have her kids at a Catholic or CofE school though, as the posher mums do round here. Unless it is meant to be the tighter catchment pay or pray schools...

I am sort of Julia of all of them, but hopefully a bit more Meg. Unlike Julia I don't have the classic Mumsnet "DH Problem" so I'm not resentfully doing it all myself.

I liked the first series more, I get annoyed with all of them now (except Liz). They have so much, they aren't grateful (except Meg). Julia is a victim of the patriarchy, sort of - when her boss said she's under lots of pressure but should just "sort it out". But she needs to reconsider her life and move out of London or something!

i will admit i thought Julia was a single parent for the first few episodes

Selkie1961 · 20/05/2021 21:22

Same, and I thought her husband was her brother, until I got it, that she has to ask him for help as a big favour. The way they portrayed that reminded me of me asking my brother for a dig out. And then I figured out, no, that's the joke! he's USELESS!

I knew a "Kevin". Always tying himself in knots to make it to sports days, music recitals, etc. He once got locked out as he was late to the school Christmas play, so he climbed over the back wall and then the police arrived as he was in the playground, trying to get our attention to let him in. A resident who lives in the terraces backing onto school had seen him climbing over (dressed all in black like the milk tray man) and reported him as a suspicious threat. 😂

@Annoy

It’s on Netflix too
Not in the US, at least for me.
